Explain

a Sup Forums 'YGYL' thread

I was at their concert, the singer told some asshole to turn off their cellphone, and I said 'FUCK YOU', and he went full berserk on me.
Since them Disturbed is my favourite band.

SUPER CRAZY GUITAR MANIAC DELUXE 2

It's The Go! Team from pic related.

I truly am thankful to be as autistic as I was to play exclusively flash games during my youth.

From a FB post.

April ludgate

Fuck off, I played flash games when I was young, too. I remember Metroid Elements, Super Mario Rampage and Zelda: The Lampshade of No Real Significance.

found this video while watching random flash animations on youtube, loved them since then

friend asked if I had heard american football. i was kinda familiar but listened to it and wasn't super into it. that lead me to cap'n jazz, which lead me directly to my favorite band, joan of arc

An old record I found in my parents' house.

If it makes you feel better, I found mine from a shitty teen drama

NMH?

>"how did you find out about this band, user?"
>heard one of their songs in a porn video
>"y-you know, a friend suggested them"

>Fucked Up

got some random 7" of theirs. pretty boring story i know.

No idea how I fouind out about bowie

A streamer on Twitch made an offhand mention of them, not because he was a fan, but because they had a stupid name. I thought the name was funny too, so I looked them up and slowly realized they were really good.

Guitar Hero 3: legends of ROCK

In fact it influenced my taste in music very heavily

lemme guess, butthole surfers

Same but for me it was Rock Band

Opening credits of Se7en

So, what was it,user?

It was King Gizz.

Butthole Surfers is a good guess though, because their music is way too good for their name.

>mfw it's The Beatles
Don't know the answer, maybe my parents.

friend in hs let me borrow his copy of fragile, same friend got me to buy close to the edge from the dollar bin at a record store. life has never been the same

I used to be one of those losers who obsessed about guitar gear, and used to frequent a forum called ilovefuzz.com. Someone was shilling Science Amplifiers, which the builder is a guy from Kidcrash. Checked them out, and have loved them ever since.

gonna need a link

I remember I was in the car with my dad in his light blue 1991 Honda Accord on the highway to my house. We were listening to the radio and Metallica's Master of Puppets came on. About a minute in I commented that it was a pretty good song. He informed me it was Metallica but I paid no mind to it. About three years later I was leaving my aunt's house for Christmas. Metallica's Nothing Else Matters had come onto the radio. I've heard a few Metallica songs here and there between me first hearing them and that moment but for some reason right then it just kinda hit me that Metallica was pretty fucking badass. So as soon as I got home I looked up some of their songs and was mesmerized. I almost immediately got all of their albums (except St. Anger and LuLu but I ended up getting St. Anger as well) and did nothing but listen to them for a year straight. Still listen to them a lot to this day. One of the few things in life I can thank my dad for. It's kinda sad. Love that fucker though.

lost in translation

digging through my dad's records. never looked back.

A greentext

>hey user, show us your taste in music AND porn
n-no

fuckin' pussy

MusicChoice on cable television. "Pet Sematary" was in the VH1Classics section, and at that point my 14 year old self had only heard of Metallica, I only listened to what was on MTV so mostly MCR and whatever flavor of the week rappers were back then. You're going to hate on me for still calling the Ramones my favorite but they were what got me into looking for music that wasn't just whatever is popular. I'm well aware of the Ramones' popularity but they were obscure in my redneck town eleven years ago.

You're anonymous, noone will ever know it's you

I downloaded an album randomly from a sharethread. I put it on my phone thinking that I would listen to it at some point. A year or so later, I was bored enough to do so. Boredom was the perfect setting for that album and I have been infatuated ever since

A podcast that I was listening to was talking about Weezer and how only their first two albums were good. I liked Blue and Pinkerton so much I decided to go beyond that. While Make Believe and Raditude were pretty bad, I enjoyed Maladroit quite a bit.

On a gaming forum 10 years ago

The Ramones are fucking awesome.
My first experience of finding music myself was in high school. I had an iPod, but my sister handled iTunes and I just looked through for stuff I knew or looked cool from all the shit she had from her friends. One day I saw pic related and thought it looked cool, so I threw their stuff on and never looked back. Punk is still my favourite genre and The Offspring led me to Ramones who are another favourite
These days I can't single out one favourite, but the Offspring will always be special.

>Loves the Beatles
>Posts Pete Worst

The Offspring are criminally underrated and another great band that you're supposed to hate on for tru punx points.

>implying

>Be Me
>Be Normalfag 13 year old
>Be watchin watchmojo
>OOH THIS DAFT PUNK BAND LOOKS REAL NEATO OH BOI GOLLY
>I just claim I found them through listening to the radio after a while.

>around 14 yo
>hey user try to listen to this one
>HELLO ME, MEET THE REAL ME
Didn't take too much to do the trick

Just listened to that song.

It was I wanna Fuck you Like an Animal in that one porn compilation wasnt it?

It's radiohead and it's because Sup Forums told me to listen to Kid A.

It's not a fancy story. I wish I had a better one.

my dad played Oingo Boingo a lot when I was younger, and I guess it sort of stuck. Still listen to them every day.

SUPERMAN IS KILLING HIMSELF TONIGHT HOLLYWISE HOLLYWISE
GH and RB got me into music. I would never have pursued music if not for playing those games. RB3 was my introduction to At the Drive In, one of my all time favorite groups

so you're telling me someone can identify you from your taste in porn and music but you're afraid of them finding out you post on Sup Forums?

>world famous best selling band is "criminally underrated"
kys with this stupid expression already

mfw i got into oingo boingo because I was a 17 year old girl at the time and an older man linked me the song "little girls"

unironically these

Someone on here said 'I bet you're one of those faggots who thinks death grips is experimental' and I hadn't listened to them up until that point.

I guess they're not 'experimental' as in the genre but they certainly have experimented a lot with recording, composition and genre styles.

Saw em as an opener for what I thought as the time was my favorite band. Haven't listened to the main act that played that night since, but I still listen to BTMI weekly.

my roommate but it took him a while to convince me

Discovered Animal Collective through Slenderman

>2012
>I'm 14
>watching the newest episode of superjail on youtube (the episode with the triplets)
>get to the part where the warden turns on the vr machine
>really dig the music
>look through the comments to see who made the music
>see some guy say the music sounds like king crimson
>mfw i hear starless for the first time

>tfw you get cucked so hard by the lead singer of Disturbed you become his #1 fan

originally listened to my favorite band because of memes

One I got from Kurt Cobain and The other from Pitchfork's best songs of The 90s list

i would kill myself if i was pete best

One of their songs was in a Skate game soundtrack. Licensed video game soundracks are honestly pretty good ways of discovering new music.

Nearly all my favorite albums I found second hand records..very few online

saw the arctic monkeys on mtv when i was like 14 or some shit

the view from the afternoon had a weird clip

Kurt Cobains taste is the guiding path from pleb to patrician

Same lmao

Need for speed: underground

>having a favourite artist
Kys, all of you

Seen them play live and realized they were actually pretty good

my friend gave me a mix tape.

That mix tape actually spawned my interest in music in general.

Makes me feel just thinking back to it

also my first thought

no

the meme.

Trying to find clown porn

Story time?

Nothing much to say. It was a clown burlesque vid which had Tom Waits on, specifically "God's Away On Business".

>King Gizzard
Around 2013 I became convinced Australia's psych music scene was onto something so I was paying attention to just about every single release coming out of there

Radiohead. I read comments for Muse comparing them to Radiohead.
Oh boy it was Radiohead hit me like a bag of bricks the first time, unlike muse which is "safe"

Is that Shadman?

You can't?
>not giving your best friends handjobs and gobbies

Kurt knows good music from his era to be honest.
Most others after wards just copied nirvana without listening to Cobain's influences.

Some of them are underexploited too. Like The Scientists, the Birthday Party, The Melvins, etc.

Discovered mine from Skate 3 about 7 years ago
>Dinosaur Jr.

By clicking suggested videos on youtube. I started at Belzebong's "Sonic Scapes and Weedy Grooves", clicked on over to Om's "God is Good" and ended up at Death In June "Roseclouds of Holocaust". I wonder if this journey is still as easy as it was back then.

I heard one of their songs at the end of a Black Mirror episode.

It popped up in my reccomended on youtube after listening to mantits

>youtube.com/watch?v=iANDy7-gt1Q

When I read some news article on Rolling Stone magazine about how the singer changed sex and got interested in it because I have gender dysphoria too (just like 99% of the male popullation).

a sketch comedy show had him as an act on one episode

Against Me?

gta iv radiostation

same. i can almost remember how magical it was the first time i heard 1979
