He killed everybody. Hi-society hiddened his dids because it's more lucrative that way. Read the book famalam.

He is clearly asking about the movie and not the book it was based on. The movie implied that those things were his illusions and not what actually happened.

In the movie, it turns out he was just batshit and the reason no one noticed was because everyone was so self-absorbed that no one really paid attention to what anyone else was saying.

The murders happened, but some of the details are off because dubsman is crazy. In the end he can't even lash out against the people he hates because nobody will notice.

all he did was real but no one gave a fuck

It is hinted that he did, and it is hinted that he didn't. The reason for this is that it didn't really matter if he did or didn't, because nobody would care anyway. His business associates don't want him jailed, and the apartment owner who wants to rent/sell it doesn't want anybody to know that there were a series of gruesome murders in there.
Patrick is portrayed as a psychopath, motivated entirely by self interests (whether it be hedonism like brutalizing the prostitutes or killing Paul Allen so that his [Patrick's] card would be the best of the lot). By the end, you realize that everyone else is like that too.

He killed some people. The director wished she could go back and make the ending less ambiguous.

Nice Trips. Checked. Now let's see Paul Allen's card.

The movie went both ways. Like the realtor clearly not wanting a few pesky murders to get in the way of selling a property for millions (where the taxes alone would strangle her if she wasn't able to do anything with them during a police investigation) and the movie did a pretty good job with the interchangeability of 80s yuppies.

IT'S AMBIGUOUS, WE CAN'T TELL YOU BECAUSE THERE IS NO DEFINITIVE ANSWER.
Stupid thread, really.

Those dubs ain't stupid

Noice

Nicely done.

Nice but that's nothing.

Looks like you didn't file dubs with the agency.

He checked em

He killed everyone. It's a comment on the deindividuation of 80's yuppie culture that he gets away with it at the end due to mistaken identities all round.

Yes, Patrick killed those people.

You could come up with tons of theories as of why Patrick did so, I tend to stick with the conclusion that Patrick wanted to be on-top by any means necesarry as well with wanting fame to his name.

However, nobody noticed these killings 'nor questioned that specific persons absence as everyone Patrick is surrounded by is solely out for themselves just as he is. You see this when characters often mistake each other for another colleague, Patrick realized this and set up an appointment with the Detective as "another being looking for paul owen."

The Detective was hired by a persona put up by Patrick. Hell, not even his own lawyer believes him when Patrick confesses and mistakes him for someone else followed up by indirectly insulting Patrick as a spineless coward who couldn't hurt anyone.

At the end you see reality sink in onto Patrick. He'll never be anyone aside from a yuppie engulfed by 1980s materialism. He's a nobody trapped in a cage with viscous dogs.

>just read OP for the first time
>get dubs

See, it's the correct answer Here's the retarded Sup Forums tier answer

Wrong.

all the movie implied was that SOME of the murders didn't happen. He definitely killed people during them movie (the homeless guy, etc).

But he definitely did NOT kill Paul Allen.

He did all the murders until the "Feed me a stray cat" scene onwards

>But he definitely did NOT kill Paul Allen.
What did you mean by this?

What was up with his notebook filled with all that gruesome shit

>What was up with his notebook filled with all that gruesome shit

Solipsistic shitposting, 80s style.

You could say this movie has a double meaning.

Its obvious he made that one up due to the other guy saying he had lunch with Paul

Maybe he though he was having lunch with Paul Allen but was actually having lunch with that dickhead Marcus Halberstram
