I was scared at first when I heard they were gonna try and recapture their fun indie sound from OS that it be shallow, boring bullshit but both singles got me hyped for an mgmt album album again. The sounds not that catchy but its got momentum, love that theres more space in the mix too instead of having everything cranked to 11 like on their last album or any flaming lips album. Whoever does the mixing/mastering for the lips needs to stop.

skeletal lamping mostly, the interplay between the drums and the bass is very serpentine and nuanced and sounds familiar, they also have some off kilter psychedelic moments, more than most bands, the sour sounding lead guitar in this is similar to something like Disconnect the Dots but there are a lot of om songs like that not just the one
