>too many
>Been to Sun Kil Moon last year, fucking epic.
>Been to Antonio Sanchez last week, best jazz live I've ever seen.

Oh wow nice haha, I didnt see many people, was to young, only went for Snoop, Pearl Jam and Ghost but they ended up all playing at the same time which was pretty shit. Still good experience though

Shouldn't you be posting at Sup Forums?

Rare fantano

Oh hey, I went there too when I was 16
Went there for Pearl Jam but ended up loving Primus and The Naked and Famous

Where did you see Death grips?

Shit, a lot

>Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears
Fucking killed it, incredible live

>Melvins
Seen them live 3 times. Last time was the perfect Melvins show; they covered The Beatles and played most of Lysol, absolutely incredible.

>Andrew Jackson Jihad/Jeff Rosenstock/Chumped/Smith Street Band
Saw all these guys crammed into a tiny brewery in San Luis Obispo and that show probably had the best energy I've ever been too. It was a tiny venue in a small town, and all the members of each band knew each other so they would hop out and play songs with the other bands impromptu. Crowd was great too. One of the times I saw the Melvins was at this same brewery and it was sweet.

>Death Grips
Seen live twice; lots of energy but abyssmal sound quality. They just solo over their studio recordings, which was pretty crappy imo.

>The Avalanches
Saw them in LA. A shitshow, but a lovable one and still one of my favorite concerts regardless.

>The Who
My buddy's uncle is a longtime roadie for The Who, so we got working crew passes for their show in Anaheim. Me and my roommate spent the entire show running around the stadium watching them from various places before finally going backstage and watching them play from the sidelines. They were great, and Roger Daltry's voice is still incredible.

>Modest Mouse
Saw them 3 times, the crowd is always shitty and the sound quality is always meg

>U2/Black Eyed Peas
I was there at the really big U2360 tour gig in LA when the show was livestreamed into space and stuff. Was actually my first concert wayyyy back in HS. Sound quality was great, Bono was annoying between sets. Also Slash came out during the Black Eyed Peas opening set and we knew for sure he was banging Fergie.

>Animal Collective
Saw them twice, they killed it both times. Great shows.

>BADBADNOTGOOD
Absolutely slayed, in my top 5 concerts for sure. They jammed and were top-notch musicians.

>Spoon
Kind of stiff but really clean and good live.

It's hard for me to tell how good a lot of the shows I saw from 2010 through 2015 actually were because I was so overtly worshipful of everyone at the time and has so little self respect that everything seemed inherently amazing to me. I kind of wonder what my problem was, why I felt that everyone was so much better than me that I couldn't have opinions or be critical of anything in the slightest. I though, writes music = Jesus fucking Christ. I felt like I was in a stroller looking up at all the tall people. I mean I was raised by baby boomers, so maybe that has something to do with it. I never really knew who I was or developed any sense of self.

cont'd

>Thundercat
Dude slays, his voice is perfect live and he jams the bass like a motherfucker.

>Vulfpeck
One of the best shows I've ever seen. I was skeptical because their studio albums are so-so, but they jammed like crazy and had amazing solos live. Highly recommended. Also amazing sound quality, the best in any concert I've been to.

>DJ Shadow
Alright. He tweaks all of his old stuff into a new style which is just okay. Also he met everyone after the show and was the nicest, most humble and kind musician I have ever met in person.

>Deltron 3030
Awful sound quality, couldn't hear anything but bass. Hopefully they clean up a bit. Dan the Automator told me after the show a new Deltron album was in the works but that was like 4 years ago and nothing so...

>Pixies
Pretty damn good.

>The Flaming Lips
Best concert I've ever been to.

>Mac Demarco
Opened for Flaming Lips. Super charismatic. Saw him smash a guitar, repeatedly jump off his amps, undress a camera man and make the camera man sing a song. Then he and the cameraman made out. Neat night.

you didn't like mewithoutyou? why? did you see them for the a->b life tour?

ahh man i really wanna see beck. it wasnt good? 2017 though i can understand why. his last two albums have been uncharacteristically awful

their vocalist was being shitty metalcore hype man guy. really corny. plus the venue was huge which i usually hate. their music was just not translating there. thinking more about it, it was really a poor and boring performance. they were touring in support of circa survives 10th anniversary on letting go tour, which was amazing

fuck i forgot to include:
Dinosaur Jr - 2016 - 8.25/10

Haven't been to many out of state shows, just mostly local shows.

The Front Bottoms 2015,2016 8/10

The World is A Beautiful Place 2016 10/10

They blew alex g out of the fucking water.

Only two recently

>Boris
10/10 saw them play Pink earlier this year, so fucking good, would recommend if you even remotely like Boris or the genre of the album they're playing.

>Perturbator
A great time, puts way more effort in than other electronic artists I've seen live. Sound conked out during the encore cos the venue couldn't handle the volume lol. Talked to him afterwards and he was a really down to earth guy. Never expected him to have the opportunity to play in Perth, so that was a nice surprise.

i saw them opening for wavves and best coast in NC lmao It was cool bc when they played i didn't know they'd gotten a qt pi asian keyboardist and the synth added a cool dimension to the music that i don't feel had really shown in their music at the time

Steve Vai 2016, great show but venue and mix were terrible

RATT 2017, terrible show opened by even worse local acts but it was free so, fuck it

Galactic/ Govt Mule 2017, fantastic performance from both bands, comfy venue

BadBadNotGood 2017, great show and really tight musicianship

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard 2017, put on a good show, played some older tracks which was a pleasant surprise

Steely Dan 2017, glad to finally see them live, unfortunately without Walter Becker :,(

And countless other local jazz acts

hm. I saw them play the entire album of a->b life in a very small venue and it was pretty great. plus they played in a sweater poorly knit as the encore

fuck, thanks for reminding me!

I too saw boris. 8/10, really damn loud

I saw U2 and Interpol in Saint Louis on that tour. It was actually pretty solid.

i mean he played the hits. Show started really late and he only played for about an hour before introducing everyone on his stage for like 30 minutes then got curfewed. I had a pretty good time though

Did you hear their new album, Apocalypstick? It's pretty good. And yeah I had never heard of them when I saw them open for Spoon. Clem, the lead singer, looked pretty sloshed and kept cracking crappy jokes which was neat. Also the Asian keyboardist you're talking about said she peed her pants in a mall, so they sang a quick refrain about peeing your pants. Neat bunch of peeps I guess.

Far and away the best live thing I ever saw was Shaky Knees Fest 2015:

im stupid and brought none and was too proud to buy some. same for pelican and dinosaur jr. loud as all hell. my band plays really fucking loud though so in the moment it doesnt bother me. but after the show and the next day is awful

>Ministry 2
>Trentemoeller 2

I've seen neither of them live, but I'm curious as to what made those shows subpar?

here's the ones i went to in the past 6 months

>The Districts
At the Troubadour in West Hollywood. If you've never been to a concert at this place, it should be on your bucket list. The venue is small and always extremely packed. The Districts have an insane cult following. This was probably the most energetic concert I've ever been to. Lead guitarist crowdsurfed while shredding two different solos, dozens of people were thrown onto the stage and had to be escorted by security, and the whole place was a fucking mosh pit for the most hype songs.

9/10

>Coast Modern
Saw them on the Santa Monica pier. Really shit. Boring crowd, boring set, not engaging at all. Left halfway through and rode the ferris wheel with my girlfriend and watched the rest from a distance. That was a saving grace.

2/10

>Glass Animals
At the Greek Theater at UC Berkeley. It was okay. Nothing really to say about it. Lots of weed, the whole crowd was high, so that was enjoyable. They really crank the bass at their concerts so it's impossible to hear the vocals, especially since their lyrics are almost always whispered. Overall, not bad. The real fun was smoking up with a bunch of Berkeley kids.

5/10

>The Flaming Lips
Saw them at USC. Mac DeMarco was the opener. Near the end of his set, DeMarco said, "for those in the audience who are suffering from constipation, hang on tight. Because The Flaming Lips are about to blow the shit out your asshole." Boy howdy, he was right. The Flaming Lips do NOT fuck around at their shows. Confetti, lights, props, giant rubber balls, they got it all. The whole concert felt like a psychedelic trip. Do You Realize?? as an encore was the most magical concert experience I can imagine.

9/10

>Daniel Johnston
His last tour. Saw him in San Francisco. It was what you would imagine from a 56 year old schizophrenic outsider artist, I guess. I really only went, because it seemed important to see his last show.

Can't really rate this one.

Saw ministry after death grips, i stuck around cause i like their old stuff. Unfortunately they only played their shitty new songs and al jorgensen was acting super cocky onstage and saying obnoxious political shit between tracks. Not to mention that awful antifa thing that they played, I can't think of anything more cringy. And the crowd was absolutely dead (except a tiny pit) - 90% greasy middle-aged metalheads. I stayed in the pit the whole time which was fun but it was honestly the only part that didnt make me wanna die instantly.

And trentemoeller, holy fuck. I love their older techno-inspired shit and their newer releases aren't bad either, although they're much more rock-oriented. The new songs sounded kinda good live but it became a snoozefest pretty quickly... and then the played the old stuff. The problem is, they were trying to recreate techno with rock instruments. It was so fucking corny. The crowd was dead too. The band played well and had good energy but musically it was 50% borning and 50% atrocity

Disclosure - 2013 - 10/10
Saw them in Paris right before settle dropped and it was fucking Brilliant.

Kishi Bashi - 2017 (Nov) - 10/10
My favorite artist so I'm a little biased, not to mention I was on 5 tabs of acid.
But the show was incredible, and the format that it was done in was spectacular,

I honestly can't decide which concert was better.

I also saw a free (military show) boys II men concert when I was like 7 but I don't remember much besides being bored.

Well if you saw Ministry on their most recent tour then I guess I'm not surprised. The people I knew who saw them live a while back said they put on a really good show.

I'd still be down to see Trentmoeller regardless as long as the tickets are cheap.

The ones I can remember from the past year or so...

Preoccupations - ehh letdown. Lyrics were fumbled a couple of times and the band in general just didn't seem to be that into it
Low - fucking awesome
Actress - ehh
Mono - Good for what it was, loud as fuck
Flying Lotus - batshit insane. I ended up leaving a bit early because the sensory overload just became too much after a while
Thor and Friends - boring as fuck, just an hour of fucking xylophone scales. Also they had a dedicated member of the band performing interpretive dance. Barf.
Ex Eye - probably my favourite show this year. Dingy little basement venue and they just about took the roof off
Explosions in the Sky with Juliana Barwick opening - fantastic on both counts
Colin Stetson performing Symphony of Sorrowful Songs - underwhelming. I liked the studio recording but the percussion was way too overpowering live.
GYBE - GYBE/10

next show I'm going to is Tim Hecker on my birthday, fucking psyched.

Oh yeah a couple of others I forgot:

Best Coast - 2011 - Okay

Flying Lotus - 2012? - Okay

Oh and one more:

Bass Drum of Death - 2011 - Awesome

Daft Punk - 10 Absolutely fucking amazing, honestly one of the highlights of my life
Run the Jewels - 7 pretty hype
Travis Scott - 9 great energy, lots of fireworks, bumped some stuff off the first album probably because it was in Houston
BROCKHAMPTON - 8
The Internet - 5 only live performance that I was ever just "eh" to it, just one of those bands with a big difference between studio and live.

I paid like 30 bucks to see them? Maybe it would have been worth 15

America - 2013 - Okay
Swans - 2016 - Orgasmic
Front Bottoms/Brand New/Modern Baseball - 2016 - Fantastic

>I rate The Beatles

AC/DC 2016 - meh
Descendents 2016 - le epic
Bully - 2016 - also epic win

>Drake - A lot better than I expected
