>no vaporwave
im sleep

Too laughable to really get flustered about
that Klein ep is fucking awful, I suppose they had to fulfill the obligatory black woman quota though

This is still a hell of a lot better than the other shitty lists they've done this year.

>No animal collective
what shit

Yeah new dds, or anything from orange milk this year, should top this

Just cause it sounds slur and muddy doesn't mean it's bad.

but seriously Pharma by Nmesh was extremely good and experimental and pushed the boundaries of vaporwave and sample based music in general really far this year

also HKE had his SQ 777 project which was 7 albums of 7 tracks spread across 7 different labels and each song was supposedly made in one sitting, I mean that's super cool conceptually and the music holds up really well, also Heavy Black Heart by death's dynamic shroud.wmv was a kaleidoscopic psychedelic sexy enigma made from pop music of the last couple years and also should of made the list

Warp records recognizing LILITHTWIN and Yoshimi in their end of year list was cool though

yeah I don't know if music journalism has some weird aversion to covering vaporwave or if they're just stupid, like it's been the most popular tag on bandcamp for the last 3 years and vaporwave cassettes are constantly on the highest selling bandcamp physical releases

They just think bandcamp is tumblr music=Disney pop

I think anything even loosely tagged vaporwave has a hard time getting any 'legitimate' attention with some good reason i suppose....
I got pretty invested in the whole genre but unique releases have been few and far between until now - i think artists are really starting to experiment in the genre and not be so bound by conventions
Havent been the hugest fan of hke, giant claw and nmesh but theyve each had some seriously new experimental vaporwave/electronic releases this year that deserve some attention

bruh hke is the shit, dude has like 30+ aliases and a lot of them relate to eachother thematically, like some of them are Gods and some are computers and some are robots its so tight, and he's got different labels that are supposed to be like ancient vaults with strange digital files of vaporwave albums, he's really killing it conceptually in my opinion and some of those albums are fucking killer (HK is probably my favorite vaporwave or ambient release ever)

Oh yeah im definitely interested insome of his ideas and have liked a bit of his music - just not a huge fan of the whole ambient/vaporwave stuff on the whole personally

you should check out Arctic Circuitry by Electric Spectre from Business Casual

I think it was one of the better vaporwave releases this year it's super paranoid and crazy kinda like some of Darksleep's more experimental stuff but it's still really groovy

Cheers for the rec, will give it a look

It's bad because it's an uninteresting mess. It's like people have never listened to a sound collage before.

is this not experimentaL enough?

Almost none of the music there is experimental

>1. Damn.

seriously?

Where the FUCK is Lee Gamble

Then what is, genius ovalayer?

Pop

>Awful comprehension
What in sound making field is experimental?

yves shuld have been top 5
anyway this is more of the experimental pop list
lots of good shit on bandcamp didn't even get mentioned

Such as?

Eh, maybe because of the copyright issues?

I liked this. This was a nice album.

. Jefre Cantu-Ledesma - On the Echoing Green
pleased to see JCL on here but it's not that experimental, especially compared to his other work.

>1. Arca - Arca
jesus christ

also these

Most of these aren't even experimental.

. Arca - Arca

Fuck you, this album is somehow very, very underrated by Sup Forums. Its hard for me to tell why. Imo its a great album and earns the first place

>Imo
thanks for sharing now fuck off with your tumblr coil shite

nice meme

>arca being tumblr core

Ok boi

Just tell me why do you find arca's new album shit? Whats so bad about it?

> Whats so bad about it?
lets see
urchin was a throwaway from mutant that xl made him put on it
sin rumbo should have been the closer like it was on entranas with the fireworks. it doesn't work well with it being in the middle of the album. ESPECIALLY since he adds another interlude with whip(which should have been longer)
desfactio is easily the best song but the songs afterward are just plain and are skippable
and what really pissed me off. is that in concert hes WAY MORE AGGRESSIVE. especially with his vocals but here he kept up the same cry me river emotional singing all through.
like i get he was trying to be like this youtube.com/watch?v=uHQnb3HS4hc
but cmon man switch it up

mutant is still his best work. but this is obviously getting overblown by publication because they wanted to so badly give props to a lgbt artist and arca gave it to them
i still love him and think hes one of the best producers. but this album is meh

Why are you comparing this album to his earlier works? Listen to it without thinking of it as another arcas album but as a individual one.

>Why are you comparing this album to his earlier works?
did you even read what i wrote?

>the most hyped electronic albums are also the highest ranked
No surprise there

>pushed the boundaries of vaporwave
so its almost not vaporwave?

>Arca
I really, really don't understand this meme

He is gay

What meme do you think you understand?

how any of these are experimental?

>how any of these are experimental?
its not top 40, indie rock and hip hop

TMT sometimes covers vaporwave

>Narkopop
>experimental

what the fuck

it's basically "experimental" music for people who's taste is so sheltered in by indie rock and memerap that even the slightest bit of adventurous instrumentation or abstractness makes them go WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

If anything, this displays how far p4k has fallen. Not that they were any good in the first place, mind you

>Their end of year songs list is even worse

They're not. When I saw gy!be on this list I had a legitimate laugh though
