Not true in terms of sanitation.
None of the SE Asian languages are related to any subcontinental languages except for Vietnamese being related distantly to Garo, Khasi, Munda etc. Tagalog, Malay, Javanese may have loan words with Sanskrit here and there but and may have used Brahmic scripts until Romanization but that's only because of the spread of Hinduism. Otherwise these are Austronesian and not derived from Indo-Aryan or Dravidian.
Yeah I can barely find any cognates in those languages, apart from numberals (although Vietnamese is very impure due to Chinese loanwords).

Khasi and Garo are actually very similar to Khmer in a lot of ways.
