What, specifically, is so captivating about this scene?

the realness . no cgi even if they should have used some

CIA's crotch

His stance really captivates me. It really conveys the confidence of a true alpha male who fears no bane.

It's a cinematic representation of the "gateway to power" mentioned in some of Crowley's occult texts. Bane is the first ever Hollywood villain who is a fully realised Thelemic villain:
>"Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. Love is the law, love under will."
Nolan was inspired in making Bane the most complex mystical/philosophical Hollywood villain in years. The counterplay with his raw physicality is fantastic and bolsters the mind > matter message of the movie, though of course most people aren't capable of such understanding.

This. I knew he was in charge the second I saw him

I little known fact is that Aidan Gillen as CIA was in the The Pest (1997) movie.

How fucking bad it is. Bad writing, bad directing, bad costumes, bad pacing. None of it makes a lick of sense. Why are we doing a blood transfusion into a corpse at altitude? Beats me! Why do they expect to find one of them in the wreckage? I dunno but a fire rises brother!

It's the worst part of a very bad film.

It's the subliminal messages.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the flashing stills containing the message "Moloch is your Master" before.

You can see them if you slow the scene down frame by frame.

You're right. I never even questioned it. I make it a point to stop and powerstance whenever I enter a room just to remind everyone else I'm in charge here.

It's an old actor's tradition. Also checked wew.

It isn't captivating, in fact it's one of the dullest memes in the history of Sup Forums. Each post following the CIA agent and his agency pals from the plane as they fight assorted big guys has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the homoerotic imagery, the meme's only consistency has been its lack of humor and ineffective use of photoshop, all to make other memes less funny.

Perhaps the die was cast when moot vetoed the idea of giving Sup Forums moderators; he made sure the board would never be mistaken for a place of quality discussion that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously shit posts for his site. The Sup Forums board might be anti-reddit (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-/lit/ in its refusal of discussion, beauty and understanding. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the film was good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the film was terrible. As I watched, I noticed that every time there was a fight, the characters would prance around ridiculously.

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time a character died unconvincingly. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Nolan's mind is so governed by cliches and unintentional camp that he has no other style of directing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of TDKR by the same Zach Snyder. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are watching The Dark Knight Rises at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to watch Batman v Superman." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you watch "The Dark Knight Rises" you are, in fact, trained to watch Zach Snyder

FOR YOU

Here are my genitals, please take

Nice adaptation of the pasta.

why the blood transfusion?

it's captivating because the scene is austitic and autism attracts autism. not too surprised that you're captivated towards it OP

Someone get this Hothead outta here

somebody get this hothead outta here!

>Hothead trying to be in charge
Cute

nah, can't do it

to make it look like bane died so he can go underground and plan his attack i think

Reddit pls, /lit/ is the worst board on this site

Because it was a leaked scene before the movie even came out and Sup Forums analyzed it obsessively.

The truth is merely relative perspective, when you can anticipate all perspectives you can control all situations.

you mean dr. pavel?

This. Although it needs an edit of the graphic.

Throw some Quentin in there.

It makes less and less sense every time I see it. It truly is a masterpiece.

reminder that CIA and Bane staged the whole thing. there was no plane crash!

HEAD. NICE AND HOT.

The entire film exists in that strange valley where you're not too sure if its a good film or a bad film, you feel there's something weird about it but you're not quite sure what . This scene is just the optimal expression of that feeling. It's a pretty good scene but it still has some very odd elements to it, which the meme pointed out brilliantly.

This is unironically the truth

The meme history

Its honestly not much different compared to TDKs opening

Improved

So, was Bane working for Masketta Man? Why do we never see Dr Paveleer again? Is he related to Dr Pavel?

what is he doing? what did he mean by this?

how shit it is

you forgot he was a big guy

It is simply poetic how Nolan uses the power of illusion to make it seem like you are seeing a plane crash on the big screen when actually it is a train wreck

HEALER MAN PAVEL I AM ROCK MAN OF THE TRIAD OF SECRET MYSTICS

nice1 m8

They were doing the transfusion so when the wreckage is recovered they find a body with Pavel's blood and identify the corpse as his. Being proclaimed dead no one is suspicious of him working for Bane (he is the expert in his field)

They expect to find one of them in the wreckage because the flight plan I just filled with the agency lists smee, maimen, de ktrapavel, heer, BUT ONLY ONE... OF YOU!

PAY ATTENTION REEE

I think what bothers me most about the scene and the movie as a whole is the same thing: Nolan's pacing. If you pay attention to the music and direction of the scene it does this build-build-build-build thing, it's monotonous after a while. He only has one beat and it just plays over and over.

When the actual movie rolls, there's the spot in the center where several weeks (I guess) suddenly pass and we jump forward, but the pace of the movie doesn't stop at all. Just more build-build-build-build so the time jump doesn't even feel like a jump. It's like he's afraid we'll get bored if he drops the buildup for even a second. But the end result is just really monotonous and tiring.

Why would it matter if they knew Pavel was working with them? They're already after him and they know he's trying to do some bad terrorist shit or whatever. And what would it matter if there were more bodies than the flight plan? They're still after him either way.

>Why do we never see Dr Paveleer again?
It's absolutely strange. Absolutely strange. We know that Dr. Pavel boarded the plane based on previous comments by CIA and the fact that we see him actually sitting in the plane during the scenes that follow.

Yet very oddly, Dr. Pavel is NOT mentioned in the flight plan filed with the agency by CIA. Even more peculiar, CIA mentions the mysterious character "Dr. Paveleer" who is never once seen onscreen.

Who is Dr. Paveleer? Why is he mentioned by CIA? Why do we never see him on or off the plane? What is his relation to Dr. Pavel?

My theory is, Dr. Paveleer must have been a character on the plane meant to play some role in the action but was cut very late in production due to budgetary concerns.

There's only so much Nolan could pack in to a special effects intensive five-minute action masterpiece.

>They expect to find one of them in the wreckage because the flight plan I just filled with the agency lists smee, maimen, de ktrapavel, heer, BUT ONLY ONE... OF YOU!
Except that's not true, he only said that to scare them into talking. If he actually only listed one of them on the flight plan he would've actually shot them before throwing them out of the plane.

Yeah I'm thinking there were some major cuts either during or after filming that made it make a lot less sense. But the plane scene was their big action opening so in it stayed.

>Get them on board I'll call it in
He isn't talking to them here but still mentions some coordination with the agency

Also, I just told you why Bane told HIREDGUN to stay put. Why go out of your way to prove me wrong?

Hotheadcucks BTFO

Have you ever noticed that during this shot, the view is angled such that the ground and the sky are perfectly even in the frame? What did Nolan mean by this? Let me tell you.

They're not balancing for CIA alone. Nolan is using natural symbolism to show the moral dichotomy between CIA and Bane. CIA's lofty aspirations towards achieving law, order and justice (the sky) are being challenged by the dirty reality of Bane's life in the shadows (the ground). At the beginning of the movie, of this divine confrontation, the forces are in balance but that quickly changes. Bane crashing CIA's plane, a physical metaphor for his principles, from Heaven to the Earth shows Bane's initial victory for darkness. Bruce Wayne therefore becomes the inheritor of CIA's spirit as he finds himself stuck in the Pit, a location deep within the Earth, where the light had been sent to die. But Batman overcomes that, rises from the Earth, and defeats Bane, and is last seen in his own plane, the same physical metaphor that CIA had. Whereas CIA was crashed to the Earth, Batman flew off into Heaven therefore showing that morality and justice still have a place in the world. CIA probably smiled down on him

That is a very silly pasta.

COOL IT HOTHEAD

Bneng?

...

But Bane only knows what CIA told him so he assumes CIA revealed the true flightplan to him.

Obviously there is a lot of untold lore in that scene that never got explained because they cancelled the origins movie for CIA to make Batman vs Superman.

It's well paced and tense.

i seriously thought this was Star Wars Rogue One trailer before I read the text

don't be so sure

>/lit/ has actual discussions

lol

fuck you

You're a big guy

the fact the cinematography couldn't be made 5 years prior to shooting.

dubs

Think of the holy trinity. God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Nolan is Bane, CIA, and Dr. Pavel. Nolan created all. Bane is the Father and CIA is the Son. CIA, like Jesus, had to die for the Father's plan. Dr. Pavel, like the Holy Spirit, is everywhere but not always noticed despite the fact he wasn't alone.
Think of the triforce. Power, Wisdom and Courage and the story of Link, Ganon and Zelda.
I believe Bane is Link, for he is good. Ganon is CIA, for he is a hothead jealous of Bane's size and wishes to destroy him. Dr. Pavel is Zelda, because despite not wanting to be in this situation, his lifestyle (Dr. Pavel as a nuclear engineer, Zelda as a princess) and lack of friends forces him to be a victim.
It has endless interpretation.
It's a thing of beauty because it shows the eternal struggle between the Master Plan and the Flight Plan, between Big Guys and Small Guys, between Good and Evil, between Hotheads and Coldheads, between Bane and CIA.

>Why are we doing a blood transfusion into a corpse at altitude?
>to make people thank that the guy whose blood was used died in the crash
Why do they expect to find one of them in the wreckage?
One of bane's man was on the cia flight plan. So one of bane's man is expected to be found after the crash

Can confirm. Wikipedia confirms it.

The blood transfusion is so they think that the corpse is Dr. Pavel. Bane probably had the forethought to pull out all of the body's teeth, knowing that they'd almost certainly use that to identify a corpse in a plane crash. Also, I'm sure he drained the corpse of literally all of its blood, so it'd look like he lost it in the crash.

Bane almost certainly remembered that the "flight plan" was just a bluff, and wanted to get rid of that particular henchman.

Also, I'm sure the bullets were all set to melt or otherwise evaporate, so everyone would continue to think it was a simple plane crash, rather than an attack. The holes would, of course, be blamed on hail.

Head of above average temperatures.

a daring synthesis, bravo Nolan
