/X-Files/

Is this show worth getting into, or has it aged horribly?

Desperate for something to marathon while I'm on the mend. I remember watching a couple episodes when I was a kid in the 90's, seemed like the twighlight zone.

It's aged fine for the most part. It's uneven but that's expected for a procedural. Sometimes it's silly, sometimes it's genuinely spooky, but it's always entertaining imo.

The best part of watching it now is seeing all the cars that were new in 1993 being used for the series because it makes it look like it's filmed in Russia because of how old they are

>do you love aliens and conspiracies
>do you know common Sci-Fi tropes
>have you ever watched The Twilight Zone
>do you love episodes without any continuity references
>do you love basic soap-opera storylines
>can you watch an hour of television
>can you watch an hour of a show that be fit into a 30-minute show
>can you watch 200 hours of it

If all of it you can answer with a "yes," then go ahead.
I watched it a year ago. Horrible, horrible pacing. Strongly recomment to only watch the episodes you liked the summary of.
At most also the "alien arc" episodes.

Be honest, did you like the X-Files?

Aged just fine, they even made a few new episodes. I would recommend to binge watch.

Yes. More of a guilty pleasure, though. It is enjoyable, but far too long and doesn't give any real surprises in the filler episodes. Super predictable, the length doesn't justify that at all.
The conspiracy stuff never went anywhere and that would have been fine, if any of it even mattered in the first place.

It had some great ideas, some really neat characters, but it's just enough for me. Its revival show could have done things right by adapting to modern times and make it very continuity-heavy. Instead, that shit was even worse than any of the other seasons.
I did like the Lizardman episode, though. Truly enjoyable.

X-Files is a show people would call "comfy", and I'd agree. You don't need much of a brain to enjoy that at all, and can literally fall asleep.
I do like the characters, though.

Just started watching it, it's pretty good. The only thing that really stands out is the absence of smartphones (scully unfolds a giant fucking map in like the first or second episode).
Duchovney's a little hammy, but he's charismatic enough to keep it going. and DAT PRIME GILLIAN ANDERSON UNNFFF

its great

It's my favourite TV show. It's not talked about enough here.

I like The X-Files but I can't binge watch it and I disagree with and , it's from the point in the early 90s that is indistinguishable from the late 80s, both in the style of dress, the low quality sets and film stock and the slow pacing. It gets on my nerves if I don't break it up with something else.

Fringe is my favourite X-Files.

It's good, some of the CGI/effects aged so-so but the whole thing still holds up.

the good episodes of the x files are so good, and the bad ones like that video game one in s7 are hilariously bad. Imo all of it is enjoyable.

If you haven't seen
Jose Chungs From Outer Space
Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose
Ice
Squeeze
Drive
Bad Blood
Home

youre missing out senpai.
If im correct each of those can be watched as standalone episodes, Jose Chungs is the best episode of the series imo, but its better if youve watched some of the show before you watch it

>Fringe is my favourite X-Files

i will never understand how people could watch more than a season of this and i say this as someone that loves the leftovers and other convulted tv series.

also TXF had a decent budget, once it gained momentum.

You might wanna stop after season 7. It goes to shit after that.

You sound like a total twat. I bet you enjoy garbage like Stranger Things and Game of Thrones.

>not liking the ep with burt reynolds
>not liking the ep were the indian midget go's up peoples butts
>not liking the ep that ripped off jeepers creepers
>not liking the ep were mulder and dogman team up

8 and 9 are underrated kino

You sound like a person who enjoys X-Files, so you really should not get on some high pedestal right now.
I don't watch that crap either, little boy.

What do you watch?

I don't watch any TV shows of that kind. X-Files I did since I was very interested in its premise, but was severely disappointed after watching it.

I also don't like Star Trek, it's just not for me.

Don't forget 'Die Hand Die Verletzt'

Sucks to be you i suppose

Not at all.

i disagree.

not being able to enjoy any ST would be pretty shit.

I'd argue that enjoying ST would be pretty shit as well, so it's just a difference of opinions

What season does Scully get hot?

I'd argue that anyone who doesnt enjoy at least one of the series doesnt belong on this board tbqh.

You're right, this board is shit

4

even reddit can appreciate ST and TXF,you are just a pleb.

Agent Reyes was hotter anyway

I can appreciate both shows, doesn't mean I have to like them, you illiterate.

i don't think you do either, you silly philistine.

No.Even skinman was hotter then her.

>No
There's no need for denial

Is Prime Rib kino?

Her sister was fine as fuck, I wanna deep tongue her shitbox.

Just stating facts.

>Scully>Bambi>Krychek=Marita>Reyes>Diana

I can't disagree

what do you wanna talk about? any good S11 theorys?

Anything. Favourite episodes, favourite scenes (or the opposite), interesting facts about production etc. I see Twin Peaks threads constantly, even though they're the same waifu threads over and over again, I think it's a shame there's constant repetiton of those, but then so few threadds for other shows. I mean A lot of X file threads don't even get 20 posts, and move like a snail.

As for season 11, I have no idea. I am interested in how Reyes plans to sabotage Cancer Man's deal with the aliens.

Will they ever finish this arc?

Last years' short Season 10 was such a cop out. It even made me like Season 8 and 9, at last.

>Fringe is my favourite X-Files.

get out

>More of a guilty pleasure

Fucking millenials...

>8 and 9 are underrated kino

yep

Just watch it all. Its not like you have anything better to do, faggot.

>As for season 11, I have no idea

And I have no expectations. The fuckers aren't even shooting yet. Fuck, they're so old even now, should just kill Daddy Fox, hand the keys to AYY William and the new agents - SJW Scully and Chad Mulder

I got shitposting to do you fucking nigger lover.

You cant even do that shit right. Kill yourself my man.

My favorite show too, user.
High five

>Chad Mulder kek
Og Mulder was already pretty Chad

Somebody mail Chris Carter the pic "It's time to stop posting.jpg". His episodes in S11 were the worst, completely off the mark. At least watching other writers/directors' eps I feel like I'm watching The X Files, not a Jimmy Kimmel skit. Founder's Mutation was a neat example of new episode done right. Wish it was longer though, 40 mins of runtime feels rushed somehow.

>implying I don't have the shittiest shitposts

You are just jealous, my dude.

>I am interested in how Reyes plans to sabotage Cancer Man's deal with the aliens

It's not aliums anymore. Now it's ALEX JONES' "THE SHADOW GLOBALIST ELITES". Carter is a fellow #deplorable and infowars.com subscriber.

FAKE NEWS GOY!!!! PLZ GIBS US YOUR MIND TO CONTROL

What season is the best and why is it season 4?

I would possibly like to be convinced.

The FX effects have aged quite badly in many aspects but the acting and dialogue and plots are still amazing. They would never write it like this in a modern show - kids swapping on their smartphones wouldn't understand shit.

Recently began re-watching it in remastered HD quality after good 10 or 12 years. Dem early 90s in high-def, dat everything. DIAMONDS

Dangerously uneven show

>THE SHADOW GLOBALIST ELITES

Fuck you, I read that in his raspy super male vitality voice now.

If you get your news from Alex Jones, you will love this show.

Yes it's a great show. I'd check out the episode with brad dorrif. I forget the season or episode but it's really good

...

It's worth a watch, just don't expect any kind of actual resolution to anything ever

...

I have been trying to watch this show for years, I'm only part way through season 3. It's not bad, but I have to be really hurting to actually watch it.

It has absolutely aged, it's very much a product of it's time. That makes it pretty novel though, it's like watching a time capsule.

The bigger issue is that it's ten seasons long, but only the first four are good.

Also that it's the 20 years ago version of shit like Lost, enjoy the standalone stuff but understand that they had no fucking idea what the ongoing conspiracy plot was so they just dragged it along forever making stuff up as they went along, and it was awful when they finally tried to explain it.

it still hol up

s01e01

Fringe and The Leftovers are companion pieces. One is the pulp fiction adventure of LOST done right. The other is the metaphysical questioning LOST only dreamt of.

>we don't live in the world where season 3 of Millennium was Lance Henriksen vs. the Evil Dead
at least we're getting Twin Peaks back

Hmm,I think season 11 should have an ep or so from william and CSMs perspective

Musing of a cigarette smoking man was great but they never did that sorta narrative again.

Hungry is sorta similar too i suppose,so just replace a flesh eating creature with a group of alien hybrids or something.

Also the reboot NEEDED vince gilligan, darrin morgan and james wong werr fine but they need someone to help focus and polish the overall story.

You could always watch hannibal or the fall or even true detective if you are late to the party

fringe turned into total bullshit real quick

The first two seasons of Millennium were so good-- as good as early X-Files. It was such a breath of fresh air between s6 and 7 of TXF for me. The Lone Gunmen was pretty good too.

>women
>funny

idk, your mom made you so i'd say they're pretty decent at making jokes :^)

who /krycek/ here?

Every episode with The Lone Gunmen is worth a watch. They my niggas

except jump the shark and the terrorist ep from S10

There was an article about their cameo the night before that s10 episode and I was so excited. Then they were only onscreen for like 8 seconds. i am disappoint

It's completely outdated.

And by outdated I mean you would have daily threads of
>it's another episode of Scully doesn't believe in the face of overwhelming evidence

etc, if it was airing in 2016.

If you can handle watching a cheesy procedural series, you might enjoy it.

its pretty shit cause they could've used the most contrived plot device ever to bring them back to life and fans wouldn't have cared but they chose to do that instead.

they literally explain why multiple times though.

if you can't follow basic plotlines in a "cheesy" show i cant imagine what it would be like watching a serious one with you.

I love the series but it's very outdated and can be a bit cheesy. It's also a huge scattershot in quality and tone. Some episodes are serious and tearjerkers, some episodes are genuinely scary, and some end with a performance by a Cher body double.

Yet, I still love this show. Being 22, I didn't grow up with it, but started watching it a few years ago and it's my favourite. Some people recommend watching only the monster-of-the-week episodes, some recommend only the myth-arc episodes, I recommend them all, even the shitty ones. It's like a bag of jelly beans. Some are shit, most are good.

You are retarded. The "explanations" is just there to keep the dynamic between Mulder and Scully going, it has nothing to do at all to have some kind of plausible reasoning behind it.

I wouldn't expect a sub-90 IQ monkey to understand.

I agree, I love the show. Though I grew up watching it so it has it nostalgic charm for me, but I can see why even begging to watch it now can be appealing.

>some end with a performance by a Cher body double.

Still one of the better episodes, supposedly Cher couldn't make it due to scheduling conflicts which is a shame.

The direction on that episode was god-tier. But that ending was so out of left-field and it was glorious.

One of my all-time favourite camera shots from anything ever is from S01E11, Eve. Scully draws her gun while searching for the two girls at a truck stop and walks past some pipes. The shot is from the other side of the pipes as she sneaks along. Kino as fuck

If you like really boring and gross. This is the show for you.

So you expect her to tell the FBI that aliens exist without any valid proof other then eye witness testimonies?

Why would her saying they exists to mulder even help?

It doesnt change how he feels and shes still devoted regardless

Her debunking him changes nothing and helps ground the reports, which he would never be able to do without her since he would and has gotten to carried away despite the lack of evidence.

It's aged but in a really adorable way

Like a core part of it's premise is that it's a far out idea that governments might be lying to people and manipulating their lives

>Also the reboot NEEDED vince gilligan
Definitely. I was disappointed he didn't come back for it, hopefully he'd be up for returning. To be fair to Darin Morgan, the weremonster episode was one of the best episodes of the show ever. The rest of the season didn't come close.

The scene they were in was still great to be fair.

Maybe they'll stay dead, and Carter won't bother staying consistent with the comic book?

>SJW Scully

WOO-WOO!!!
youtube.com/watch?v=dFv0605ggAY

OG was autistic as fuck with unresolved sister issues and porn addiction, he'd be 24/7 resident on Sup Forums and /x/ nowadays

>the new agents - SJW Scully and Chad Mulder
Yeah, what's up with that? They looked like a cheap parody of the originals, very PROBLEMATIC desu.

Or was Carter just trolling Fox with their "soft reboot" suggestions.

>he'd be 24/7 resident on Sup Forums

i dont think he hated himself that much
