Silly Season updates cause we have fuck all to talk about before Xfinity race (And weather isn't looking good. Severe storm threat for the area tonight. Race could be run daytime tomorrow instead)
>Kenseth is out from JGR next year pretty much confirmed by Kenseth himself. Likely Jones to the 20. But the bigger news is that he might not be in the 77 either. Possibly Hendrick bound? >One "Big team" is going from 4 to 3 next year but it might be JRM in Xfinity dropping Anett and not one of the cup teams. At the same time could be Hendrick leasing the 5 >Gallagher Motorsport is now looking at two entries in NCS (One full time and one part time) and two in Xfinity while also shutting the truck team.
The rumor mill about Kenseth going to the 88 is in full swing now. If they don't officially announce something soon there will be disappointment no matter who goes where.
Caleb Garcia
>One "Big team" is going from 4 to 3 next year
Stewart-Haas to finally kick the chick to the curb and lease out the 10 to a real driver, imo.
Hunter Cox
>while also shutting the truck team.
RIP truck series
Noah Reed
>/ourguy/ Harmon qualified for the Xfinity race >Angela Cope also memed her way in Xfinity will be entertaining if they get to run tonight
Current talk is the 10 is funded for next year and going to run but it's very likely going to be Amirola as long as he can keep a clean bill of health. But if the total cup driver ban on Xfinity/Trucks is real then they might keep her on to run a part time schedule in the 41 Xfinity car Kryle and Bread got in hot water with NASCAR saying it was way too expensive to run truck teams and they were right. Losing GMS would be a disaster but with the Truck Series in the current state as it is. You can't really blame them from moving the team priority from trucks to Xfinity and Cup
Liam Brooks
Dalr Jr also said on his podcast that Kenseth helped with his throwback for Darlington (A Nationwide sponsored race)
I've been telling you all that Kenseth is going to the 88 and Nationwide wants him. This confirms it. A one year deal and then Byron takes over, just like the Mark Martin deal in 2009.
The 5 is shutting down.
Anthony James
>then Byron takes over, Still too soon for Byron
Jose Flores
Kyle Busch on pole for Xfinity
Robert Turner
>Trucks are too expensive >Okay let's have more intermediate races on the west coast
Cooper Myers
>it's very likely going to be Amirola
It'll be interesting to see what he can do in the 10 if he actually gets the slot.
Clint went from 3 top 10 finishes from the entire season last year to having 7 top 10's of 17 races so far this year, 4 of which were top 5's, including 3 P2's.
RPM just doesn't have the kit to compete effectively, but SHR sure as hell does.

O’Donnell said NASCAR would be meeting with team owners in the next 10 days to begin working on the long-term strategy for the Gen 7 car, which could make its debut in the next two to four years.
The overtime line likely would move from the backstretch to the start-finish line for overtime finishes next season.
O’Donnell acknowledged a general dissatisfaction with the splitter, which has drawn negative reactions from drivers such as Dale Earnhardt Jr. for causing extra damage on spins through the grass.
Driver biometrics, a digital readout visible on cars that indicates their positions on track (a la the IMSA and IndyCar Series) and real-time speeds from the pit lane also should be available with the new model.
The debut of a visor camera that was used at Sonoma by Danica Patrick and at Daytona by A.J. Allmendinger should become more widespread, with the whole field wearing them.
O’Donnell said NASCAR might start its second and final stages under green rather than under yellow, counting the caution that divides the segments in the previous stage.
Brandon Lopez
>O’Donnell said NASCAR might start its second and final stages under green rather than under yellow, counting the caution that divides the segments in the previous stage. what? Is that saying cautions don't count for laps in a race or that stages won't have artificial cautions after completion?
Nicholas Edwards
It sounds like there would still be cautions, but the caution laps would somehow count as laps in the previous stage. It would be easier just to not count the laps in between stages.
Chase Flores
Looks like we might lose the Xfinity race. Frequent storms coming. Qualifying might stay green though as long as lightning doesn't hit. Interesting they have not said anything about a new manufacturer for Gen 7 yet. It's been heavily rumored last few days and VW are apparently making comeback plans for motorsport already. New manufacturer seems like it could either be VW or Nissan. Might be interesting times.
Dominic Nelson
Kentucky Speedway's about to get btfo by t-storms for the next ~2 hours. Don't expect the Xfinity race to start until at least 10:30 eastern, if at all tonight.

Jason Smith
despite your trips, Kryle will go winless in the cup series this year
Brayden Clark
>visor camera(..)should become more widespread, with the whole field wearing them. how? they don't even have enough roof cameras for the main contenders kryle needs more than trips to win
Justin Bailey
Prediction:
Kyle Bush will withdraw from the Xfinity race tomorrow out of respect for the competitiveness of the series
2014 is probably the worst for that but this year is pretty bad as well. Today is forecast to be dry for Kentucky so both races will likely get in. Visor cams are 3D Printed and essentially glorified Go-Pros with broadcast capability. They are also considerably cheaper than roof cams, Teams and Drivers are interested in them for reviewing footage so they would be subsidizing the costs for Fox/NBC as well because they want to run the equipment which is why adoptation is going to be really quick.

What happened to Pirelli World Challenge? the series has changed so much it's completely different now. The Sprint X races with driver changes are retarded. The races are still short, so they don't change tires or refuel the pits stops are only for driver changes, with the minimum pit stop time. It feels like an artificial gimmick. It's like they are trying to be more like Blancpain.

for the new cars NASCAR needs to redefine the meaning of "stock car". either make them closer to production models or make them custom built tube-frame race cars that have nothing to do with road-going production models. allow for more variation between the manufacturers. maybe NASCAR should try going hybrid. F1 races are short, NASCAR is what kills the Ozone Layer they should be the ones going electric. or how about instead of V8s use a smaller turbocharged 1.5L V6? or a turbo inline-4?
Ian Phillips
They are and always will be custom built tube-frame race cars that have nothing to do with road-going production models.
William Sullivan
>NASCAR should try going hybrid. It wouldn't be worth it. The amount of time they're on the brakes wouldn't make it more expensive than it's worth.

Super Formula had been using Bridgestone for the longest time but recently they switched to Yokohama and now people are complaining about lack of overtaking and the racing not being as good as when they used Bridgestones. The Yokohamas don't degrade enough and you see weird pit strategies like pitting on lap 2 and going for a severe undercut. No one complained about the Bridgestones and there was no mandatory tyre changes rule. The teams have been using Bridgestone for so long it felt like they had those tyres figured out. Now switching to Yokohama have seem to catch them off guard, and sort of reset the field, while they learn the new tyres. So now teams can't rely on old data and have to get new tyre data. but it's the first season with Yokohama so it should improve or maybe J.A.F. will make changes. and the new team liveries aren't as good as the previous liveries.
