What are some of the most overrated films of all time?

What are some of the most overrated films of all time?

not that one, friendo

Real answers:

Scarface
Predator
Conan the Barbarian
Shawshank Redemption
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Empire Strikes Back

I like at least one thing in all these movies but I don't like hearing how great they are.

Overrated is the preferred go to term for children to pretend to know what they're talking about.

Scarface
Eyes Wide Shut
Event Horizon
Aliens

What's with plebs (that think they're patricians) calling Scarface overrated? Because normies like it? That doesn't make it bad.

The Godfather Part II

Star Wars

Lot of people have it as their favourite movie and if you watch it's objectively less than a 5/10. It's literally a movie for kids

Generally when you start a thread like this you post a relevant picture

Overrated doesn't mean bad. I probably wouldn't have even remember to post it if the user before hadn't. It was just pretty forgettable for me outside of the ending. That being said, I watched a ton of movies when I was like 16, including Scarface, and I might like them if I watched them now. There's not enough time in a day to catch up on them all though unfortunately.

Got 1/4, champ

Jesus, is it you first day in this cesspool of turds who call you pleb every time they have no arguments?

Enjoy your stay.

maybe rewatch it because it's actually a great film and not just some retarded thing that rappers like

"As Good As It Gets", definitely.

Which is the overrated one to you?

Any of the original Star Wars films.

Psycho. Its a good movie but Hitchcock has better films.

>Read the book with extended ending
>Hell yeah!
>So hyped, I decided to watch the film
>Trannie director shoves cocks in every scene
>COCKS. IN. EVERY. SCENE.

If you ever needed another reason to hate transsexuals, know that they fucked up one of the greatest novels of the 20th century.

The Godfather
Citizen Kane

>trannie director
?

...

>Kubrick is a tranny
Learn something new everyday.

Those are all fucking great movies.

if anything, clockwork orange is more overrated than all of those. Not memeing.

Vertigo
Breathless
Breakfast at Tiffany's
The Apartment
Love in the Afternoon
Rocco and His Brothers

Classic Hollywood in general is chock-ful of overrated movies.

Only got Event Horizon right, champ.

Even Horizon is a good movie

The Apartment is a perfect film.

It's complete trash. Nothing worthwile beyond those BDSM orgy scenes. Dull scenery, wooden one-note characters, Checkov's gun telegraphed like in the lowest budget horror movies, meh scares. I swear, the only reason it got traction on this site is because of the WH40kfags.

It's by-the-numbers "beta gets the girl" romcom, what the fuck is perfect about it? I love Wilder, I love his visuals, love his witty dialogues, but for some reason when you put that together in a romcom, what comes out is total garbage.

Everything Sup Forums (pretends to) likes.

What fucking movie are you talking about?
Or did you just watch gay porn?

Fury Road is massively overrated

People calling it the GOAT when it's really just a good action film

This so much. Star Wars are terrible and cheesy with laughable dialogue, Psycho is just straight boring and doesn't affect you in any way.

Also,
There Will Be Blood
No Country For Old Men
Lawrence Of Arabia
The Godfather
The "Alien" franchise
Every popular horror flick (Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday The 13th etc)

Unpopular opinion? Yes.
Bait? No.
They just aren't that great. They were fun to watch as a kid because they captivated my imagination but as an adult its hard view them as anything other than good/decent films.

>There Will Be Blood
>No Country For Old Men
>The Godfather

Elaborate further

Every Malick film

2001: A Space Odyssey
Goodfellas (and many other Scorsese movies)
all Tarantino movies after Jackie Brown
anything by Guy Ritchie

I don't hate Star Wars but they're just not god-tier like fan boys would have you believe.

I actually like Psycho. I say its overrated because most, or at least the plurality of people, would rate it as Hitchcock's best work which I just can't see.

>eyes wide shut
no

this but remove butch cassidy and at the lord of the rings trilogy

Scarface is easily De Palma's least memorable pre-90s movie. To me it feels like the turning point in his career where he stopped being fun.

I agree here. The first Mad Max is just as solid as an action movie despite not being 90 straight minutes of explosions.

I agree on The Lord of the Rings. The tone doesn't feel right at all.
