RDJ makes the big bucks. Civil War was just supposed to be Captain America 3 with Tony Stark in a brief role, yet it became Civil War when he got more involved. The movie was ultimately a tony stark movie.
He supposedly has a decent-sized role in Homecoming as well, not just a cameo.
So needless to say, if theirs any epic moment of spotlight to be had, RDJ is gonna get it, or its gonna be another GotG ending where they combine their friendship and shoot a laser into thanos or something.

This guy gets it. The MCU began with Iron Man being a smug, showboating, quip-spewing dick, and at the time we all love it because it was honestly fresh AF. For God's sake, Reddit didn't even really exist at that point in time, and the closest thing to a "pleb" site in 2007 was AICN, Fark, or Superhero Hype. Even Sup Forums was still a young site known for lolcats more than anything else.
For that reason and that reason alone, it would be wrong for Infinity to end on any other note, tonally speaking. It needs to be RDJ slinging quips and acting like he doesn't really care while he unleashes all sorts of techno porn on Thanos.
