Why do people doubt how good he is? He's consistently gotten 20+ goals in the premier league in a mid table club and he's only 24 years old. His touch is questionable at times but he more than makes up for it and his record speaks for itself.
Man Utd must have seen something in him to bid as much as they did, Chelsea too to match that offer. If he's so clearly shit and overrated why were two top teams fighting over each other to sign him?
>Man Utd must have seen something in him to bid as much as they did, Chelsea too to match that offer
They have more money than sense.
Screencap this post, he'll flop. He's above average, not even worth 40m
Connor Turner
>why were two top teams fighting over each other to sign him? Because English teams for some reason are awful at buying players. See: all the money they spent and their results in europe. Remove Chelsea and since 2010 England has won only one EL.
Colton Nguyen
But a lot of those flops are players outside the league, players who were very clearly past it (Torres) and players who never reached the heights Lukaku did (Carroll)
Lukaku is premier league proven, at his peak or approaching it, and already one of the best strikers in the league.
Jonathan Hall
PL proven doesn't mean shit anymore.
Gabriel Murphy
Because he statpads against relegation fodder. He's not the striker to make United competitive in the CL again
Lincoln Morales
because he has been a good scorer for a small club so there is no way he can be a good scorer for a big club its logic
Mason Morales
because they envy the BBC
Kayden Stewart
>awful first touch >Literally no movement >Disappears in big games >Slow
He's basically a worse ibrahimovic
Jeremiah Carter
He cannot play with his back to goal.
Against the best sides this will become a problem as chances are few and far between. The opposition will get a foothold into the game because everything in to feet gets wasted.
At Everton, attacks would break down regularly because of his poor first touch. Fortunately Everton had a squad that was good enough to dominate the majority of teams with just 10 men, so Lukaku could be forgiven his first touch and the players would look to play him in on goal.
He's a flat track bully. You need all 11 players to put a shift in and do the dirty work when you are playing the top teams. Lukaku just doesn't do that.
Man Utd will need to decide, are they going to drop him in the big games and start Rashford. Bringing Lukaku on later in the game to run at tired legs because he will be ineffective for them otherwise
Julian Harris
Man Utd and Chelsea were both after him because he guarantees bundles of goals against relegation fodder.
It's when the top sides slip up against the Watford's and Swansea's that league titles are lost.
Michael Bennett
Is this pogba?
Kevin Thomas
Lukaku was scoring regularly when Mourinho sold him in the first place because he didn't fit his style of football, this screams panic buy.
He's not a Drogba or Costa who spent 90 minutes winding up and giving defenders hell so teammates could move up into space, he's a box hanger who can finish but needs service. Good striker, not a Mourinho player, not worth 100 million quid.
Eli Lee
>500 gorillion for a belgian lukaku
what the hell is going on with EPL
Kevin Cruz
>le tap inside against PL trash teams man
Joshua Young
That's exactly what Man Utd need.
Wyatt Sullivan
he has dogshit skills but somehow gets goals and in the end thats literally all that matters so he is worth the money
Grayson Nguyen
I'll give you the first point but his movement off the ball is good and his game is all about getting on the end of chances. He's also pretty fast, don't just assume he isn't because he's big and strong.
As for the big game thing you can't really expect a guy playing for Everton to consistently score against top 6 teams because the vast majority of the time they're on the losing end. Even then his goal scoring record against them recently is better than people give him credit for all things considered.
Colton Stewart
The problem it's what Ibra was and that wasn't enough to make United actually good in the league (though ironically Ibra - never win shit in europe- imovic finally a european trophy).
Jackson James
Didn't 1/3 of his goals come from like 3 games that Everton dominated?
Isaac Morgan
yes
Elijah Anderson
Have you seen him play for the Belgian NT? Granted, even guys like Hazard and De Bruyne disappoint with Belgium but Lukaku looks genuinely useless every time I've seen him.
Hudson Evans
15 goals in 57 league games against the top 6. That's not great even if you're playing for Everton, who people seem to forget aren't far off the top 6.
Jason Nguyen
>you now remember bobby martinez failing at everton got him the belgium job
Andrew Anderson
>75m for lazy nigger TOP KEK.
Aaron Roberts
Way past his prime. He relies on his power but top level defenders will let him do a foul.
Ethan Collins
>200m lss than sanchez >Lazy Not really
Dylan Taylor
Sanchez is lazy too, but he plays just efficiently.
Jason Mitchell
>20+ goals in the premier league in a mid table club That's not always a good thing. A lot of players flourish when they have no competition and can play without pressure. Seeing as he's Belgian and black, he will most likely go down in history as a choke artist
Justin Wright
Manure are like Arsenal but with more money
I.e. they try to panic sign whoever their rivals are targeting
DIfference is Wonga is a tightarse and Manure are stupid with their money
Hudson Moore
This
Sanchez does a lot of intensive sprints, and then spends a few minutes jogging around. That's why people think he's got great work rate, while in reality he doesn't even cover that much ground.
Meanwhile Lukaku just sort of trots around, few intensive sprints, he doesn't open up much space for his teammates.
Jaxon Martin
what a fucking stupid way to evaluate workrate.
who's going to have more consistent service and runs to make, kane at spurs from alli and eriksen or lukaku at neverton from barkley and davies? likewise aguero is the focal point of city's attack, costa's game is running around kicking people and sanchez plays everything close and quick as arsenal do.
8km+ in stop sprints is a million times harder than running. they're the polar opposite of lazy, if being in the top scorers table didn't make it obvious already.
Aiden White
>He's consistently gotten 20+ goals in the premier league in a mid table club
Why do you keep posting this everywhere lel. He had the game of his life in a friendly against us and we all like his ridiculous goal too. So what?
Julian Edwards
Did he just really improve last season or what? Because even considering its Everton those stats before that are poor
Jaxon Reyes
This was the first season he scored over 20 goals in the league in 5 full seasons and this is a player who is rarely injured
Nice troll though
Mason Rivera
United are the meme team, everything they do gets shit on. As is law.
Colton Rogers
Lukaku's shot to goal conversion percentage is atrocious that's why. And so is his shooting accuracy.
It will be interesting to see how he does in big games though, something he's never been in in this lifetime.
Robert Fisher
he can't control a ball. and won't cause problems for top teams, in the CL knockout stages or whatever.
could improve though, and he'll stemroll the likes of huddersfield and stoke
Brandon Jenkins
You should watch more Zlatan videos. He wasn't lucky. And unless you're fucking blind it's obvious that Zlatan is a much much more versatile player than Lukaku ever will be. His technique, agility, strenght, split vision, creativity is far superior to Lukaku.
Isaiah Scott
>salute with the left hand
yeah he's shit
Jose Morris
>He doesn't perform in big games >4 - Only 4 players (Vardy, Hazard, Alli, Sigurdsson) scored more goals against the @premierleague top 6 last season than Lukaku (4). Myth.
Joshua Wright
Everton were the 7th best team and this is a 100m player according to Man Utd, he should be first there surely.
Hunter Perry
>(4)
Camden Walker
Total fluke
Lucas Butler
>desperately need someone to score against the shit teams >buy someone who does just that >??????????? >profit
haha manure right
Aiden Myers
RARE A R E
Jayden Jackson
this, I'm as abu as it gets but this is a fantastic hikacking for manure
getting your players to tamper with and convince tranfer targets to come play for your team seems pretty effective
Isaiah Nelson
>statpadding
nice buzz word every time someone has a good record. if "statpadding" was easy than everyone could do it, but guess what only ronaldo, messi, and lukaku and Kane can "statpad"
so go suck a dick cuck
Adrian Diaz
What a load of petty bollocks
Noah Allen
lukaku used to be fast and explosive, taking devastating shots. he put on weight now looks bulky and clumsy. he's more boring now.
Parker Smith
Because he only seems good as Everton play everything through him, he basically is their one and only focal point and that's why there's always a shit striker from a bottom team somewhere near the top scorer
Having him in your team is like having Zlatan 2.0, yeah he will probably score for you but nobody else will, and lord helps you if he has an off day as he will kill all your attacks by not helping the other attacking players
Honestly think Morata would've been better desu, Everton must be happy with the figure
Isaiah Davis
>panic >9th July
Liam Morgan
He's not slow by any means dumbass Just goes to show people on here know shit and don't even watch, only form their opinions on bias and what other retards on here are spouting
Elijah Long
75 million is way too much for this guy, give me a break if you find a way to justify this nonsense.
Caleb James
He scores a lot of goals because the shit teams aren't yet afraid enough of Everton to park the bus when they face them. With United he won't have nearly as much space to exploit and counterattack opportunities will be few and far between. I doubt he'll score more than 15 goals in all competitions this season. Ibra will probably come back and save Utd's arse once again
Dylan Johnson
>Honestly think Morata would've been better desu
Seriously, Chelsea fans must be breathing a sigh of relief right now. Although it'd be even better if they signed Aubamayang instead. He's clearly the best striker on the market
Grayson Watson
It absolutely isn't a good purchase lol, why not just get Danny Welbeck back? What a waste of 75 million. It was ridiculous when Liverpool splashed 35 million for Andy Caroll using this same dumb logic, and what a waste of money that was.
Owen Allen
>It was ridiculous when Liverpool splashed 35 million for Andy Caroll using this same dumb logic
And they did the same fucking thing with Benteke, the black Lukaku
Matthew Gutierrez
Don't forget Ricky Lambert too.
>b-b-but he scored 20 goals against bad teams that means he's a good striker
When will they literally learn?
James Cox
Reminder that Lukaku's goals only got Everton 6 points last season
The vast majority of his goals are when the game is already dead, and some games he doesn't even bother showing up
Christopher Carter
Had Chelsea signed lukaku and united put in a last minute bid: >SNUBCHESTER! Chelsea will dominate next season, he's gonna be drogba 2.0. LMAO at Mouyes! JUST
Cooper Diaz
Let's set the standard now. What does Lukaku have to do to be a successful signing?
For £90m, anything less than 30 goals in all competitions has to be considered a failure. Assuming he plays about 50 games.
Lincoln Adams
Lukaku has always been an enigma to me. I don't think he's a good footballer, his first touch is terrible, his hold up play is noticeably lacking and hasn't really improved since his first season on loan at West Brom. He is also terrible against a defensively set up team. You can see it with Belgium, when he is asked to lead the line and the opposition is very defensively organized, he's kind of useless because he can't really perform well in tight spaces.
The enigma lies in the fact that he doesn't really play well, he still scores a lot of goals every season, but I don't think he'll be a success at Manchester United
Owen Cruz
>lelbeck At any rate, lukaku is going to be asked to do the same things at MU as he was doing at Everton (provide an outlet for and hold the ball). He's going to slot right in where Zlatan did except not be 34 years old. On paper it's a very good move.
Aiden Wright
Bitter chelsea faggot detected
You know fuck all about lukaku you're just parroting other shitty Chelsea fans
Ayden Howard
>On paper it's a very good move. Good thing the game is played on the field and he has a horrific first touch. He essentially costs the same price as Suarez which is an absolute con-job. Man Utd. were better off getting some literally who Ghanaian striker from Ligue 1 if they wanted someone physical who could hold up the ball for $5 million.
Grayson Reed
Last year he got 26 in 39 games for Everton. No europe and they were knocked out of both cups early
Samuel Lee
UH no. I think he would run into the same problems at Chelsea or Real Madrid or wherever
Michael Powell
>panic buy in july lool
Grayson Nelson
dry your eyes. Everything he said is true.
William Williams
transfers fees have inflated massively since suarez's tranfer, you're mad to think that a 65mil transfer 3 years ago is at all comparable with a 75mil transfer this year
every 20yo tom dick and harry with one good season and a lot of "potential" is worth a suarez these days, you can't compare lukaku's transfer to suarez's when chelsea are trying to buy a young strike for NINETY mil ffs
Ryan Cruz
Of course it's a panic buy, there are no strikers available
Asher Butler
market is surprisingly thin
you want to pay the same amount for fucking morata? or 90mil for a young serie a striker who totally won't bust spectacularly?
why the fuck am I defending manure transfer policy? I hate this club to an unhealthy degree
Ryder Taylor
Man Utd don't press. He fits in well.
Why is work rate a good thing? You drop off and invite teams onto you then counter-attack in behind.
Jayden White
Nope I'm not gonna chalk this down to inflation. Not even a little bit because that amount is just absurd.
I thought 80 million was too much for Ronaldo in 2009 but he was the best player in the world so it did make sense, Lukaku isn't even the best player in the EPL.
Jeremiah Walker
>no movement Yeah he just magically appears in the right spot for headers and tap ins >disappears in big games Most strikers do, better teams have better defenses. Still better against top teams than other "elite" forwards, got 3 in 12 matches against top 6. Decent return. >slow You have literally never watched him, have you?
Kevin Cox
Why is everyone overlooking Aubamayang? Unlike Lukaku and Morata he can actually play
Henry Cox
the numbers mean nothing you moron, and it has nothing to do with currency inflation. it has to do with how much liquidity clubs have as a whole, and the prem tv deal poured it into england and thereafter the rest of europe
point being that suarez would cost 180mil these days if someone was trying to buy him because all fees have gone up to ludicrous levels. comparing his transfer fee three years ago to lukaku's today is wildly out of context
Alexander Wood
>15 goals in 57 league games against the top 6. Literally means nothing to me, or anyone else. People don't have a vague idea of what are good numbers against top 6 sides. Heck, the top 6 only became a thing in the last few seasons.
Adam Stewart
players like aspas, aduriz, lacazette, dzeko, mertens, kramaric, modeste, joshua fucking king, and players on their death beds like ibra and robben scored tons of goals, and none besides the last 2 (and definitely not this season) are world class
Liam Cook
Doubt he's being overlooked. No bids from United, Chelsea, Liverpool with Klopp who used to manage him and Wenger buying Lacazette instead. Clearly not wanted.
Angel Morgan
>he bought the dirtmund meme
kek you gonna buy reus too
Kayden Myers
Because he's not that good and he's carried hard by Dortmund's creative midfielders/wingers like Pulisbele.
Samuel Wood
>this thread >you need good first touch or technical abilities to play in the EPL
Nice meme
He is big, fast, young and will dab with Pogba from time to time
OF COURSE HE IS NOT WORTH 90M FOOTBALISTICALLY no one ever said that
Easton Rodriguez
>suarez would cost 180mil these days Lukaku is a 20 million striker at most, including inflation. 3 years ago he'd have been a free transfer. Justifying horrible purchases with "it's just overinflation" is an age-old dumb excuse you moron that was used to justify paying for guys like Veron and Caroll who just never panned out.
No way does 3 years cause someone's price to quadruple.
Mason Ramirez
It's not that, he's good and he works well in a fast team
He's just largely a pacebabby, has a contract through 2020, and has to play for fucking gabon
Klopp doesn't even want him and nobody else is interested. could be an additional factor such as he like it in dortmund and wants to stay, or is a cuntish personality, or clubs suspect he might fail a medical. His stock is not that high
Carson Baker
>OF COURSE HE IS NOT WORTH 90M FOOTBALISTICALLY He is though. Morata and Belotti will go for a little bit less and he is worth more than them.
Brandon Barnes
my man
you have no idea what you're talking about
Henry Campbell
Neither of those other players perform that well in big games either. It isn't impressive being close to the aberage when the average is shit
James Carter
Neither do you, cause you apparently think inflation means justifying overpaying for a mediocre striker.
Ryder Young
>surely
Jaxon Bennett
Holding the ball is literally one of his biggest weaknesses
James Jackson
you don't even have a basic understanding of the concept of inflation beyond currency inflation
whatever mang
John Evans
I just said that even with inflation he's still not worth 75 million, what's so hard to understand about that?
Jordan Hernandez
what's inflation?
Isaiah Brooks
>guys like Veron Veron was world-class.
Christopher Flores
>Raiola's player to Man U
What did you expect? Pogba is playing like a 30M player as well, same for Martial Money dont mean shit to PL clubs
