On a tangentially related note, argint is our name for silver, too, and "arginti" used to be a generic name for coins here.

It's strange to think for an oldworlder how different Canada was in 1867. Who even knows about Kingston, Ontario today? It's probably a suburb now.

>Who even knows about Kingston, Ontario today?

It's only about 45 minutes away from me so unfortunately I never get to not know about it.

Kingston only stays known because it's a common pass through on the way down south through Ontario to head into Detroit, which is the typical way Southern Ontario residents will enter the US.

>argint is our name for silver, too, and "arginti" used to be a generic name for coins here.
Same goes for Spanish in Latin America. Spanish for silver is "plata" and Argentinians commonly use it for money.

Oh shit I live five minutes from there.

Those buildings are all still there. Kingston has preserved a lot of its old buildings.
It's mainly known as a university town.

1927

here is that square now
in winter it's used for skating, in summer it's a market

where do you live? i'm guessing belleville?

Would you say that all of the cities on that peninsula in Southern Ontario are suburbs of greater Toronto, or that they form their own region?
