Almost certainly. Maybe you're using a 1/4 adapter which is made for stereo headphones and it isn't compatible with the interface input and/or whatever wiring the mic plug has. Can't say, I have both the 1st and 2nd edition 2i2 and never tried that. I'd test it out of I was home.

Forgot to mention, you NEED the little switch set to "inst" mode. That means it will be more sensitive for microphone or instruments, which produce "instrument level" output voltages. "Line" mode either will not work or will be insanely quiet.

I've tried both ports and all switches and nobs several times :/

I'm using two 1/4" that step up from two 3.5mm from the mic/headphone. both have two rings
