ITT: movies people only pretend to like

Any/every terrance malik movie.

Anything made before the 80s

You have to be joking. The Before trilogy is incredibly easy to like. Why would anyone pretend to like it?

Anything by Monte Hellman.

A Serious Man

...

Any David Lynch movie
Any Ingmar Berman movie

...oh don't act like you weren't expecting this as soon as you made the thread.

eternal sunshine, spanglish, dodgeball, the first mad max, conan

sunset had the perfect ending and they had to make this garbage

There are reasons to truly like these, like being underage and/or uncultured

Citizen Kane
Casablanca

Mystic River
Gone Girl

Anything by this guy.

Because they assume it makes them seem hip when in fact it's basically poorly edited home movies with even worse dialog

pulp fiction

honestly this is the pajeet level of flicks
nothing but trash
ironically enjoying these flicks is alright if theirs a girl involved though

>tfw I love that movie

>she wants a get
>a what?
>it-
>oh, a get!

>ITT: movies user was too stupid to understand and now has a personal vendetta against

They are generally inoffensive background noise. So people can probably like them in the sense "well I could sit through it for 2 hours and not fall asleep"
The only one that people pretend to like but know is awful is probably Civil War

>pretending to enjoy a terrible movie on the internet

...

that bitch has got some hips

i like the gold watch part

rest of that movie is for douchebags though

I genuinely like Casablanca. Citizen Jane sucks dick tho

the sun is really great, as are the other dictator movies. russian ark put me to sleep, but hes more than that

why the fuck would anyone pretend to like billy madison

Anything by Wes Anderson. They seem more like fashion accessories for "top 10" lists more than actual films.

Because 90's kids

felt that a lot of jokes went over my head for not being jewish tbqh famalam

kys

People like to pretend Billy Madison is the only good Sandler film when in reality none of them are good.

I liked Happy Gilmore

>not enjoying the films of Wes Anderson

He's great, even his short Yeltsin docs are worthwhile, whatever you think of Sokurov's mythmaking intentions.

What's eating Gilbert Grape.

What...?

Persona and Seventh Seal are great. They're the only two I've seen but 7th Seal was easy to enjoy, and Persona was technically impressive and disturbing.

>Not liking the VVitch
>Not liking The Tree of Life
>Not liking Event Horizon
>Not liking Enemy

Rest are mediocre to bad, but those are all good. I'm fucking amazed Spotlight won awards though. Interesting story but dull everything else.

Comfy movies though. Have you see Fantastic Mr. Fox? Great animation and style.

>works

...

...

Someone actually enjoy, pretending or not, Bad Santa and Spotlight?

It's pretty much exactly as good as waterboy, happy gilmore, or any of his early ones.

LEL
The editing received specific praise from reviewers, especially for Before Sunset, and it also received a nomination for best screenplay for the writing.

In short, you don't know jack shit

Wild at Heart is kino bruv

People walking around pretending to like Spanglish?

bootcamp first half is great
Vietnam second half is shit

Dem hips.

Like a fine wine, brahs

The second half is fine but the first half really overshadows it imo

Two-Lane Blacktop
Cockfighter
The Shooting

All fucking great. Eat shit.

but OP the Before trilogy is a masterpiece. The movies tackle deep issues but they're not deep themselves. The dialogue is very natural. Both Hawke and Delpy have virtues and flaws, and they have great chemistry together. The editing is perfect as well, with very long takes traversing winding streets and small spaces. And the overall tone is fantastic, if increasingly pessimistic (maybe realistic depending on the point of view) towards the end. It's like Hawke said, the movies represent what could be, what should have been and what is.
So I don't see why anyone would pretend to like it, it's not an intellectual or overly artsy movie and it certainly doesn't give you hipster cred

Love the Before movies, my one complaint about Midnight was that I felt they made Jesse too much of an asshole when they fight at the end, it didn't seem consistent with his character across the three films.

fuck you, The Wicker Man is my favourite film.

God damn she got thick.

Upstream Color

Most people like the movie cause they don't understand it.

he was torn apart by his son being away from him. Plus Celine was being a bitch about it, shit talking his ex in front of the kid and he didn't like that

it's threads like this that make me realize this place is full of inbred imbeciles.

>proving my point

Thanks

terrible exit

I genuinly liked and enjoyed
the force awakens
some marvel movies
the lotr trilogy
some bond movies
drive
amelie
ur mom

>with even worse dialog

I hate you from the bottom of my soul and with every fiber of my being.

Speed Racer
It some how manages to be dumber Than a cheap Japanese cartoon from the 70s
Also it's nauseating to watch

anything from quentino

DUDE RELATIONSHIP SIMULATOR LMAO

it makes a poorly dubbed Godzilla movie sound like a Shakespear play in comparison.
I'm almost sure it was just a scam to get the studio to pay for his vacation. I literally couldn't imagine the type of person who actually got some level of enjoyment out of this embarrassingly bad crapfest.

it's good but not nearly as good as some people claim

>The Force Awakens
People feel a creepy obligation to defend this movie no matter what. Even Mark Hamill yelling about how hard it fucked him over only makes TFAdrones laugh.

you're such a hero user. There they are, the Academy, the critics, the majority of the audience who love these movies

And there you are, the lone knight crusading against this terrible injustice, armed with poignant criticism like "it's bad" and "the dialogue is bad". I'm actually standing and applauding right now

anything with Bogart is at least decent but this is great

>Mark Hamill yelling about how hard it fucked him over
I missed that. What did he say?

You're right
The "movie" wasn't awful

Lol

>Blade Runner
This one is true. On a technical level it's a masterpiece for the time but the plot is completely bland and the entire fandom revolves around the "is he a robot or not" debate

every drama inspired from a true story

so, Titanic?

The General
Not that it's bad but some (hipsters) say it's the best American film ever made
It's not even the best buster Keaton film (that's Sherlock Jr)

Maybe they just got tired of saying Citizen Kane is the best film?

Yeah I don't remember this either

>Sherlock Jr

It had that cool motorcycle scene at the end, but the rest was meh.

First post pleb post

Who in the past 50 years has said that?

Those aren't hips that's just fat rolls

every movie known by its director

I watch movies by directorX is the ultimate overrated fedora filter

>not liking conan
???

Most numale film trilogy ever.

I love how you could only think of Shakespeare as a paragon of "good dialogue". That's the icing on the shit cake that is your contribution to this thread. Refrain from ever commenting on art ever again you disgusting swine.

>"you'll laugh till it hurts"
Nope, didn't even smile. This is only praised by millennial mumblecore posers who think Inception is the height of complex narrative.

frickin idiot

>first mad max

Why? It is way better than the second and the third.

>tfw this film was the impetus for me to break up with my gf of 3 years

This is bait
If it's not, I sincerely and honestly love and moved by his films. He's the antithesis of pretension, and regardless of taste, a lack of respect for what he's done shows a great deal of plebiness

It's a hot new meme as it was considered bad/flop when it came out until recently when Keaton was "rediscovered "

>First 10 minutes is a somewhat cool car chase
>Nothing happens until the last 10 minutes which is a big letdown

Yep, real good movie folks.

I wanted to pick a name that an idiot would understand

The bait is strong with this one

This and anyone who switches the two is the one pretending

shes so hot, she reminds me of this freak drug addict i met once

That's historical truth though, and it all happened in the 60s.

loser

Linklater is probably the best director alive and the only one who can challenge him is Kaurismäki.

Also Napoleon Dynamite is shit.

yeah lynch movies look visually terrible
