Diablo is the only original property blizzard ever had, and they basically bought it bundled with the studio that made it.

>fantasy world
>no orks
>no elves
>no dwarfs
>only man
>demons from hell invade
>angles are being useless as always
>a big barbarian must use big shouts to spin 2 win his way to victory
it's at least C+ on creativity

>original property

You mean the only property that isn't a Warhammer knock-off but a knock off of something else?

>Underage fags like OP prob never even played the first game and know about heavy Christian influence the game had and just played Diablo2 and prob hate on Diablo3 cause "le nu-blizzard exxdee"

Do.... do you like Diablo 3?

That game secularized the shit out of the religious angle

>heavy Christian influence
there was nothing of the sort. Unless you're counting having a cathedral with a cross in it as a "Christian influence"

Diablo 3 is a great game. it's not a proper sequel to Diablo 1 or 2, but it's absolutely great at what it's trying to be.

I like all Diablo games, Diablo3 was fucking shit until RoS though

So I guess I don't like Diablo 3 but like RoS

>heavy Christian influence
someone explain? all I remember is that gem containment thing

>great at what it's trying to be.

Weasel words

Diablo was shit
Diablo 2 was great
Diablo 3 was shit

deal with it nerd

>but i am le old and le mature and le played the le games before you

No you didn't. Also not an argument.

What is Diablo a knock-off of?

You can't deny that Diablo 3 is fundamentally different than the others terms of both structure and aesthetic.

>diablo 1 was shit
Opinion disregarded. Diablo 1 remains the best of the series.

>diablo was shit

That's going a bit far, but i agree with everything else. Diablo was far more dark had much more of a gothic tone to the story which i can appreciate. D2 expanded on that and added more fantasy elements and of course the gameplay was a uuge upgrade. Also D2 wasn't the game most people remember it was without LoD.

i wouldn't have made that statement anyway. i played Diablo 1 and 2 for the first time within the past 5 years. been playing 3 only since Reaper of Souls came out, and i've certainly spent far more time playing it than the other two. it's an arcadey grindfest, for sure, but an incredibly fun one with very well-balanced gameplay. if that's not for you, then fine, but it's dishonest to say it's a bad game.

>Diablo was shit
it really wasn't. It was great as more of an action RPG with a lot of exploration and horror elements. It was pretty much the most atmospheric in the series before it all became about muh phat lewt

Stuff like inverted Pentagrams, " I am Legion" Diablo and (his brothers names but this is more diablo2 and forward) Burning upside down crosses, gravestones being crosses. There's a lot of stuff if you pay attention or played the game
How so? Even diablo3 had plenty of Christian stuff in it like "The fallen star " which is also a thing from the revelations
"Revelations 8:10,11 :
“... And a great burning star, like a torch, fell out of heaven. And it fell onto the third part of the rivers, and onto the fountains of waters. And the name of the star is called Wormwood. And the third part of the waters became changed into wormwood. And many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.”

It's all kinda subtle though and not as inyourface as Diablo 1 was

>mfw I realised all you do in diablo is click your mouse on the monsters

>yfw you realize all games are clicking on bad guys

>Stuff like inverted Pentagrams, " I am Legion" Diablo and (his brothers names but this is more diablo2 and forward) Burning upside down crosses, gravestones being crosses. There's a lot of stuff if you pay attention or played the game
none of that is Christian influence you retard, that's just pop culture demon stuff and everyday things. You can find cross-shaped graves in pretty much any fantasy setting

All Diablo games are shockfull of Christian references, many coming from both the Bible and other books about Christianity/Hell etc

Diablo (1) wasn't as sublte about it as Diablo3 was with item names, name of demons, places symbols/signs and so on.

Diablo 2 didn't have AS much though

Yes. If you look up blizzard north (now arenanet), it explains a lot.

You idiot, just because they have become pop culture or popular to use in games and shit doesn't mean it's not of christian origin.

Tombstones being shaped as crosses is a christian thing, regular tombstones become more common nowadays with less people being christians

i dont really play games much anymore but still about once a year a start up a single player HC character and try to make it to hell baal untwinked. Too often have i died to ranged might packs and lightning soul packs.

Not him but you are literally the only one who thinks it doesn't have christian overtones and symbolism, and your argument is
"That stuff is everywhere!"
Do you understand what is happening here?

I stumbled upon a retard thread again. good bye

Nobody plays HC without a map hack. Shows you where all the elite packs are and what fuck your day up abilities they have.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I didn't mean that D3 doesn't have Christian imagery and references, just that there is reason to dislike it besides "le nu-blizzard exxdee." It's a good game but completely different from 1 and 2, and I understand all the hate.

>Mfw you are a lowly PC cuck who will never know erginomic, comfortable, and engaging gameplay
Mice and keyboards were a mistake

Well, they're all pretty different from one another, if you want good immersion and atmosphere then the first game is the best one

If you want mindless fun then RoS is for you

not sure how to describe LoD but it's enjoyable as well, mindless fun as well I guess

Diablo is still played today and was best at what it was trying to do. So much so they're trying to recreate it with d3 shitting engine.

STAY A WHILE AND LISTEN
you read this in my voice

Here's a pretty neat article about the lords of hell and the references from christian books and whatnot

denofgeek.com/us/games/diablo/259726/the-real-mythology-behind-diablos-great-evils

>catholic imagery in a game about the devil and angels
pffft what a bunch of bullshit!

I know rite, clearly this is all OC by Blizzard, they didn't just throw the letters around or intechange names of famous demons and their roles

women are funny, get over it

entry tier bait

step up your game grasshopper

>it's a Sup Forums thread disguised as Sup Forums episode

You have to go back.

Poisoned rivers and wells and many other quests in Diablo 1 were references to christian/catholic tales and whatnot.

It's pretty neat if you recognize the references but nothing that would take away the joy of the gameplay or story

Unirconically I have never been comfortable playing a game on mouse and keyboard. That's where j draw the line and have to say this is nerdy as fuck

Do we really need more mel Gibson shit? Diablo is just bible canon

Bible stuff can be pretty cool though

>playing a video game on a different medium makes it more or less nerdy

i need more science than that to be a convert senpai

Anyone ITT who genuinely think Diablo 3 is good should neck themselves.

>cartoon graphics
>korean farmer items mechanics
>1+ viable set and build per class
>it's just your character spinning/spamming shit

Real niggas know Grim Dawn is the only real successor to Diablo 2 in terms on being hard, balanced, highly customizable character-wise, and original lore-wise.

>I have no motor skills

Its the sitting straight up with your elbows, wrists, hands on the table and a huge apparatus in front of you, 90% of which is useless to playing the game that makes me feel nerdy. Like I'm playing fucking enders game. I'm very very far from the only person who has said this, controllers are much more casual and comfortable.

Diablo 3 is good in the same way that DOTA is good. It's more e-sport than game, only the sport is gambling.

youtube.com/watch?v=7pqk3RlIS2U

my computer desk is a standing desk

Sounds even worse, I chill the fuck out when I play, the only thing working are my fingers, eyes and brain.

>I'm so retarded I think controllers don't work on computers

I SENSE A SOUL IN SEARCH OF ANSWERS

>brain

Are we gonna pretend that there isn't one viable set and build in terms of Runewords in diablo2?
And that Diablo 2 isn't putting all points into one or two skills and then synergies for it?

kek sounds just like him

First guy to finally say something smart. I never said you couldnt, but he said "Click" and never changed his tune. You need to keep up with context we are talking about mice and keyboards.
Say what you want standing rest user, but this is you and this is why I won't abide this faggy look.

>Are we gonna pretend that there isn't one viable set and build in terms of Runewords in diablo2?
A hammerdin, a zealer, and a charger will have vastly different equipment desu.

My bad, Grim Dawn is actually better.

>Tfw too intelligent to consume anything Blizzard related besides Hearthstone vids and Overwatch porn

Blizzard and Valve need to be scorched and salted

YOU HAVE QUITE A TREASURE THERE IN THAT HORADRIC CUBE

Blizzard is the lesser of two weevils

They are both good for different and similar reasons

well grim dawn is titan quest's successor. tbqh diablo 2 never got a successor. after it, the genre was revolutionised by sacred 1 and titan quest. no hack and slay ever got to the level of this three titels.

HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT THE HORODRIM?

THE HORODRIM WERE A RACE OF ANCIENT MAGE CLANS THAT SOUGHT TO BIND THE THREE PRIME EVILS

>Mfw no one else in the entire world has read all the books and knows the deepest lore like I do

Which books are good?

>no hack and slay ever got to the level of this three titels
Have you guys really played Grim Dawn?

>pick two masteries out of 6
>you get 2 skill trees
>choose between Melee and Ranged
>choose a type of damage or two out of 10
>pick Devotion skills and passive bonuses out of Path of Exile-like constellations
>pick your skills and gear accordingly
>manage your stats accordingly
>your choice will be viable most of the time
>no two characters are the same, and it's hard to find someone online with a character similar to yours
>endgame is your own character being a demi-god (lore confirms GD's gods are the same as very-high level players) with 10+ different procs and skills
>mobs are assholes with a variety of skills and attributes
>lore and factions are complexe and original
>everything is still balanced

No hack'n'slash is as perfect and fair. Even Path of Exile is too much of a Korean farmer with cash shop and either broken or shit characters.

>HELLO HERO, YOU HAD TO DESCEND LIKE 13 LEVELS DEEP INTO HELL UNTIL I TOLD YOU THE TRUE STORY OF MINE

I was definitely a good friend.

>botch a sequel so badly you've effectively killed the entire setting

fuck Blizzard

This holds for all three of their major franchises.

The first Diablo would make a great film

So would the second, at least if focused on Marius and not the player.

What film are you guys imagining that wouldn't end up being Underworld-sequel-schlock tier?

Director, Main Cast, Story, etc. etc.

Forgive me Tyreal. It wasn't my fault!

too many locations and lore info for one film

the first one has a really simple plot that can be expanded upon
>3 classes are the main characters
>decard as a narrator and side character
>that whole king whats-his-name plot
>the dread of venturing deeper and deeper into the Den of Evil™

The main Sin trilogy has GOAT combat and ties in most to the games. The protagonist is basically omnipotent from the get go, but doesn't know jack shit about how to harnass it/needs to be aware of what's happening think of creative ways to subvert it. For example sometimes he makes an armed group trip over each other, stabbing each other fatally all the while. He'll fuck with weather and tear monsters apart on a metaphysical plane, but his big bads are the Prime 3 and Tyrael, so he has some equally powerful as fuck guys to handle. It gets very meta and very poetic by the end of the third book and the ending of the trilogy is power porn.
You know every fantasy book you read and they learn how to levitate a rock a few feet or shoot a little bit of fire, and you think shit all the ways I could kill people with that power. Its like that, except he has near limitless power, actually uses it subversively/in unique ways, and is a very interesting and flawed man (a big conflict is not how but when and where to use his power, and he does some dark shit).
Armor of Blood: a cucky little sorc gets a unholy fucking knightmare set of armor that won't come off, it drags him ever onward towards its masters corpse to revive him (basically Attila the hun if he was a death knight) and all the while it uses unholy summons and spells to fuck shit up in its way and force feed him. A lot of the book is that daredevil pic where he's screaming "I don't know what I'm doing I'm sorry". Its the dark one of my recommendations.
Phantom city, dont know the name jist look for it based off synopsis.this one is cozy af , an expedition to ye magic place reveals a ghost city that comes and goes, and the ghosts want help to stay on this plane. The expedition is treated like heroes and get to fufk bitches and eat big while their mages work to undo the spell. The protag and princess are set to be married when dark secrets begin to be revealed...

i played Grim Dawn, but isn't even really finished. It is still bare bones in so many departments. grim dawn is titan quest with a worse story, a worse level system and worse design. the only genuine addon was the system taken from PoE.

Thanks for the response, friend. The Sin War books seem like a good place to start since I remember it was mentioned in Diablo 1, I think. I will check out the others too. Thanks again!

Active quests
The BANE? of Cairn.
Jesus

Who /PoE/ here?

You haven't failed, old man. You've done exactly as you were meant to do. However...I am not the Archangel Tyrael!

AAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

>That'll show him!

diablo 3 ruined it though

Breaking news: bitter autist projects
More at 9

>arguing with plebs

Thanks for the laugh though!

You just come off as a passive aggresive third worlder

>worst story
>worst level system
>worst design
What the fuck are you talking about you're triggering me so hard

Are you blind or something? Are you retarded?

Played TQ for over 1000h, used to be my fav arpg, and I made an alt recently on the Anniversary edition, and gameplay-wise it feels way emptier than Grim Dawn. At the end of legendary you're either broken as fuck or dying all the time. Are you saying le evil Titan and le evil Hades are a better story than XIXth post-apo setting with tons of well-developed factions?

Don't spout your biased shit here, some anons might believe you.

You're a complete fucking retard, just wanted to let you know.

> Idris Elba as the necromancer
> Idris Elba as the barbarian
> Idris Elba as the paladin
> Idris Elba as the shaman
Only way it can work.

I would pay to see him as paladin

youtube.com/watch?v=gMAbNFptzAA

Wish they did a movie/miniseries where the protagonist drops in and tries to lvl really fast by getting fed and doing Baal runs and cow runs like a mad man instead of an actual lore movie

That would be fucking tits

>A black paladin
why is this allowed?

True but the paladin is black so that would be a wierd role for him to take.

He knew the sin of procreating as a black and did the right thing

This desu he is based

>and they basically bought it bundled with the studio that made it.

Make it more obvious you hav eno idea of Diablos history.

Before Blizzard bought it, the game was literally mortal kombat sprite style claymation, similar to the Fallout 1 talking heads.

ahahahahahahaha the salt!!!

I live in the city with the best quality of life in the world actually.

>protip: not in the USA

Holy shit that episode was on Space in Canada 8 minutes ago.
