I listened to it yesterday, expecting a masterpiece. Got some unbelievably edgy hard rock.
Great record OP. Them Bones is one of the best openers ever.

Fond memories riding around my neighborhood on my bike listening to junkhead.
Try Jar of Flies.
Cantrells guitar tone is amazing.

objectively my favourite and most listened album ever

Good album; bad thread.
Looking at it from an alternative/indie/grunge perspective, it's dumb, plodding, and tacky, like a dark Aerosmith or something. The songwriting is laughably weak compared to some of their contemporaries.
Looking at it from a metal perspective, it's cringingly lightweight, almost like if pop metal threw in the vaguest hints of sludge, while remaining catchy, radio-friendly pop metal. They pretty much beat out every other grunge band in predicting the awful post-grunge sound of groups like Godsmack and Puddle of Mudd. Even if Staley was a genuinely tortured artist, it still all comes off as manufactured angst.
I frankly don't see the appeal. From the indie lens it's dumb and manufactured, and from the metal lens it's light pop metal. They're both right, it seems.
>lumping together alternative, indie, and grunge
yeah ok
idiots made you expect too much, i think if you go into it with measured expectations and take it for what it is you'll see why it's good
>having opinions like this
should be punishable by death tbqh
> not realizing that's literally what grunge is
You only say that because I'm shitting on your terrible taste.
No, because there are literally no likeness between Aerosmith and Alice In Chains and to think that their songwriting is weak you are one or more of:
A: Not a musician
B: Working at pitchfork or some other garbage music review site
C: A nigger or wigger
HEEEEEEEEEEEEREEEEEEE THEY COME TO SNUFF THE ROOOOSTER
"Would?" is the most feels song ive ever heard
preferred tripod tbqh but both are two of my favorites
>The songwriting is laughably weak compared to some of their contemporaries.
>what is down in a hole
>literally the best ending of any album ever
kys desu
Few songs can convey that last stand feel as Rooster does
i agree tripod sounds like nothing else ive heard before
Do you even know what "edgy" means?
