Did Islam ever have a "golden age"?

Did Islam ever have a "golden age"?

>Did Islam ever have a "golden age"?

Define "golden" age. Why should Islam get credit for the ideas and inventions created by people who just happened to be Muslim?

Of course they were the master race. Hitler was going to rebuild this with Aryans this time and conquer the world.

yes it did

it had as much to do with Islam as Renaissance had to do with Christianity

Because it only happened because of Islam, if it didn't it would be the Arab Golden Age.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age#Religious_influence

Why should Christianity get credit for the ideas and inventions created by people who just happened to be Christian?

What a fucking retarded thought.

yes. islamic civilization had it's up points and down points, pretty much started declining whilst european christendom was just emerging though. modern islam is trash.

They did some interesting stuff but it is not nearly as golden as they make it out to be, besides if you have to go back 1.000 years for examples of your co-believers that did some good things for civilization, you are not exactly making a very good case for that religion.

Can you name a single Muslim inventor, explorer, or entrepreneur?
Didn't think so!
Islam conquered the advanced civilizations of ran them into the ground within a few hundred years / when more then 20% per cent of the population had been converted!

Pretty much everything Muslims take credit for culturally was produced by some other culturally superior group they enslaved for a while.

Nestorian Christians should literally be like:

HOL UP! So what you be sayin' is WE WAZ INVENTING ALGEBRA an'

Go to a "Islamic art" exhibit at a big museum paid for by CAIR or Saudi terror fags or whatever, read the little labels closely. It's fucking always Jews or Chaldeans or Byzantines or someone else's stuff they're claiming as their own.

Islam literally bans art, it's the most shit tier religion in history.

Muslims first came up with the concept of 'the pursuit of knowledge as worship', it's the argument used by scientists of the age that reveling the wonders of nature through science cannot be against god, as the natural world is his doing and he wants up to understand it.
This was adopted by Cristian scientists in the renaissance.

Apologize for armenian genocide

Arabs. Not Muslims. Pretty sure Mohammed destroyed books and universities, but don't quote me on that.

So what happened? When did they turn into goat raping sandniggers?

forgot shitting streets link

> youtube.com/watch?v=Us8FsyWw29k&t=36

They did but it was almost all Persians.

AKA whites

the numbers we use today are Arabic btw.

No.
In fact the only time Islam was ever at peace was before the dawn of the crusades in Jerusalem where they were able to be slightly tolerant of other religions. Despite this, there were still blatant discrimination against anyone whom wasn't a Muslim as they were typically cast out, beaten, taxed heavily, or killed.
That's what I know off the top of my head.
That and the Ottoman Empire.
But no. There was never a time of economic and self sustaining life style based off of peace for Muslims. It was always about gathering up a shit ton of sand niggers and stealing shit from other people. That's where their economic success came from and that's where it still comes from to this day.
Muslims have always had a reputation for being vile savages who justify their actions by claiming that it is God's will that allows them to prey on the innocent and weak. They're a cancer.

Some of you are being really nice but others are being very disrespectful. As someone with Islamic ancestry I will tell you that Islam had an amazing golden age while the Christian dark age was holding everyone back.

>being this retarded
>being this history illiterate
>Who is Avicenna, Ibn Kalud, Umar, Ibn Battuta etc....
The Islamic Golden Age lasted 1000 years, they barley even conquered, they just took advantage of oppressive empires and offered more freedom to those nations and the provinces and cities one by one left their old empire and joined the Islamic ones who were more economically friendly and did not practice usury

Top Canadian shitpost.

there was a point where they were wealthy enough to have an intellectual class and gather the writings of classical philosophers and patronize scholars from the far east. that's all it was.

turks took over and they got fucked by exploration era europe getting overseas gold buying out all the materials for production

Screw off toothpaste.

islam never had a golden age, it just sat on ancient trade wealth... and created the dark ages in Europe by crippling trade and forcing us to adopt feudalism as damage control

I've seen better shitposting from frogs

It's greatly exaggerated. Even the greatest Islamic philosphers, Averroes and Avicenna, were merely commentators on Aristotle, and the latter ran afoul of Islamic orthodoxy for his philosophical speculations (the Muslim rulers of Spain also expelled the Jewish philosopher Moses Maimonides). In any case the Arabs only "preserved" Classical works that had already been translated in Syriac by Christian monks. They did have a handful of decent astronomers and alchemists, but that's it.

Ask yourself: how great can a civilization really be if it needs to reach back 1000 years for its achievements, however dubious or limited those are?

...

Christianity was a huge part of the renaissance tho

"Arabic numerals" were invented by Indians most likely prior to the birth of Mohammed.

Arabs \= Muslims for fuck's sake. The whole Middle East was basically christian or christianizing before Mohammed turned the whole place into a shit hole and his followers ruined it culturally for over a thousand years

>mfw LGBT History Month
>mfw Islamic History Month

As if anyone under the Commonwealth even knows what that is.

yeah like the church threatening to execute free-thinkers? Sure smart people back then realize to get the fuck out of that shit

>we din du the dark age
Then why didn't Rome also have a Dark Age? Italy was a major trade port, yet Europoors never made any money from it until the Renaissance

>adopted feudalism as damage control
>not because barbarians didn't know how the Romans ran their government

>Did Islam ever have a "golden age"?

No. The 'Golden Age' in Islam covers the early centuries of the cult after it had conquered advanced regions but before it had totally ruined them. Middle East used to be one of (maybe the) great centres of human civilization and this was unchanged by various empires coming and going, religions coming and going, until Islam came along and permanently fucked it.

Christianity actually nurtured scientific studies through the 1600's. Scientists needed money and the Church was the one that had it. They gave them grants and allowances for their studies.

>Some of you are being really nice but others are being very disrespectful. As someone with Islamic ancestry I will tell you that Islam had an amazing golden age while the Christian dark age was holding everyone back.

The people that made the West great.

Their "golden age" was literally a three hundred year period where they used information that they never developed further.

>>literally on wikipedia

I repeat: the Arabs did not invent alcohol (brewed at least since ancient Egypt), cotton (cultivated for thousands of years before Islam), algebra (known the Greeks if not earlier), chemistry (known since at least the invention of metal alloys), etc. These are facts; what you've been taught is propaganda.

Quad 8s it's over Canada dude, you've been thoroughly rekt by this Dutchman.

Yup. It was just after the conquest when arab goat-fuckers first meet civilised persians, egyptians and so on. They screwed it quite quickly though. This is why it's muslim golden age: islam just went down hill from there.

yeah but in medieval times, they still shit in buckets and throw to streets almost like being india.

Dante, Chaucer, Giotto, Chartres Cathedral, Cologne Cathedral, St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Anselm... you know absolutely nothing about medieval Europe, so why shitpost about it?

They were taking over a foreign nation in a middle of a fucking desert. Excuse them for not taking showers with them.

Arabs don't drink alcohols, they did synthesize it for chemistry and cleaning purposes.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age

They invented millions of new things.

>Ibn Muʿādh al-Jayyānī is one of several Islamic mathematicians to whom the law of sines is attributed; he wrote his The Book of Unknown Arcs of a Sphere in the 11th century. This formula relates the lengths of the sides of any triangle, rather than only right triangles, to the sines of its angles.[38]

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_sines#History

>According to Ubiratàn D'Ambrosio and Helaine Selin, the spherical law of sines was discovered in the 10th century. It is variously attributed to Abu-Mahmud Khojandi, Abu al-Wafa' Buzjani, Nasir al-Din al-Tusi and Abu Nasr Mansur.[4]

>Ibn Muʿādh al-Jayyānī's The book of unknown arcs of a sphere in the 11th century introduced the general law of sines.[5] The plane law of sines was later described in the 13th century by Nasīr al-Dīn al-Tūsī. In his On the Sector Figure, he stated the law of sines for plane and spherical triangles, and provided proofs for this law.[6]

... copied from the West. The magnificent artistic and architectural achievements of medieval Europe were not copied from anyone else. If you're saying the life of a Christian peasant in Germany in 1100 A.D. was shit, that's certainly true, but it's no more true than saying the life of a Muslim peasant in Syria in 1100 A.D. was shit -- either way, it's irrelevant to this discussion.

The term "golden age" can mean a lot of things and tends to vary from historian to historian, though almost every historian will agree that islamic had a golden age where military strength, food production and economic success led to strong forward leaps in science, mathematics and art. This was undoubtedly cause directly by islam which served as a unifying force within the arab world at that time.

QUIT DELETING THIS IMAGE FAGS

>we waz da romans
The Byzantines were conquered not destroyed, half their Empire left and joined the Islamic Empire because the Byzantines were so culturally different and interfered in the free market and trade.

They were already destroyed when they lost Rome to the Barbarians. After that it was just a decline and attempt to reconquer their original capital.

All those cathedrals took hundreds of years to build where as in the Islamic world at that time, they would be built in years.

Nigga I can make that list for Europe as well.

Also the "smelly Europe" dark ages n shiiiieet is only something from around the late middle ages when people started living in cities, and after the massive pest epidemics hit. People thought water carried the pathogen.

As for crusaders stinking, try wearing a massive armor and chainmail in a sandnigger country for days and days because on a crusade and we'll see how nice you smell.

The latter.
They tell people that islam had a golden age, but that golden age they're talking about was before islam.

I LITERALLY JUST WROTE THAT I KNOW THEM! CAN'T YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU READ!

And (for the THIRD time) name some inventors, explorers or entrepreneurs!

And (AGAIN) Let me ask you this question: when Napoleon conquered Egypt around 1800, how had the life of an Egyptian fellach changed compared to 1000 B.C.?

Golden Age Islam was pretty based desu, nothing like that sorry excuse that it is today

Never, muzzies have always walked on a house made of cards

This is about the Islamic golden age
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_Golden_Age

The crusaders also smelled because they didn't shower and the poor weren't allowed to shower anyways. The Muslims didn't smell on their campaigns, because they used the water from the river to clean themselves. The smell also gave them away removing their element of suprise

>during crusades warriors of Muslim countries complained mostly about how stinky crusaders are

I'd take any lecture on cleanliness from Muslims, many of whom wipe their asses with their left hands to this very day, with a massive grain of salt.

...

>Arabs don't drink alcohols, they did synthesize it for chemistry and cleaning purposes.

So did the ancient Greeks, who invented distillation. Why should the Arabs get a special snowflake medal for it?

Those are the inventors, etc..

When Napoleon conquered Egypt he free'd them from Ottoman rule.

The entirety of their lives were different, they had a free market for the past thousand years and improved quality of life.

Even Napoleon wrote about this in his diary and even adopted a curved saber-type sword which he found was superior to a traditional European long sword.

This vid at the timecode explains some things

youtu.be/t_Qpy0mXg8Y?t=2034

...

Same reason Andrew Carnegie is praised for making steel even though he didn't invent it. He improved it and invented a way more efficient way for it, just like the Arabs.

It's like saying we shouldn't praise NASA for taking pictures of the moon since cavemen did that 10,000 years ago.

>The Byzantines were conquered not destroyed, half their Empire left and joined the Islamic Empire

Lel, that'd be news to the Byzantines whose empire was destroyed and capital sacked by the Turks. "It's OK, we're not being conquered, we're 'joining' the Ottoman Empire!!"

>All those cathedrals took hundreds of years to build where as in the Islamic world at that time, they would be built in years.

What utter delusional bullshit. You never built anything half so grand as Sainte-Chapelle or Chartres Cathedral in any case.

...

>Even Napoleon wrote about this in his diary and even adopted a curved saber-type sword which he found was superior to a traditional European long sword.

AFTER the introduction of firearms and the abandonment of heavy metal armor.

>translate Greek and Indian works into goat speak
>geographically between far east and west
>MUH GOLDEN AGE

Everything you write is intended to vastly exaggerate the meagre achievements of your religion in order to try to obscure the many incredible accomplishments of Western civilization and to deflect attention from the fact that your co-religionists inflict death and misery around the world every day. If Islam were really a great religion it wouldn't have to go back a thousand years for something to brag about.

fuck Charles Cartel

Who?

Byzantine was sacked by the Crusaders in the 8th crusade, lol since Jeruselum was too far away and they wanted shekels

We built entire cities from dirt

P.S. many Roman citizens helped the Ottomans take over Constantinople and the Jews infact opened the gates for us, lol

The Ottoman king made great plans to make sure no attack would damage the city as he wanted it intact to be the new capital

If I posted this in /his/, I would have triggered them for questioning its validity.

I know Sup Forums will give me arguments from both sides, free from cultural marxist brainwashing.

sorry i meant, Fuck Charles Martel!

>heavy armor
>confirmed not knowing anything about war
Light armor and curved blades were used since ancient Egypt and even rome.

nobody intelligent used heavy meme armor, for example the Spartans who had no armor at all, only a helmet, sword and sheild.

The Europeans(the germanic barbarians) didn't know anything about this and continue using their traditional weapons instead of adopted a superior one.

Projection, this is what Hitler said. You simply are a dying nation and are saying "we iz kangs, we dindu nuffins" like how niggers in America say greek homos were in caves

Well then, what machines did they invent?(none!) What companies did they start? (none!). What wealth did they create? (none!).
And the life of the Egyptian peasant was just as shitty as it was 3000 years earlier.

Sure there were intelligent people in Muslim ruled territory, but peasant life was static!
