>Are scientists being compromised by political correctness?

Remember James Watson?

Depends on subject.

Real sciences are still more based then "social" sciences

Scientists?
Brexit is a political and economical stuff, not science.
Appeal to authority, look at the sticky.

>economists
>scientists
Pick one.

Yes. Also don't give the New Statesman traffic.

Literally:

>muh funding
>muh positions in EU science collaboration programs

Maybe, just maybe we don't need a political and financial union to cooperate on the ITER/ESA etc.

These people don't realize the blow Brexit will mean to the EU. The whole system will be shaken and hopefully dismantled. I hope this will mean a complete rethinking of the European cooperation between nations and the restoration of the original "EU".

Not a superstate but a collection of various treaties and communities tied to specific areas and under the complete control of the collaborating nation states.

How are we going to torture galileo and his fellow climate chamge deniers to death if Britan leaves the EU and we can't bribe their politicians with the money they gave us to have them extradited to the EU Commie Church torture chambers.

>let's base our entire branch of science on the ASSUMPTION that humans are rational economic actors
>when the theory gets disproved by reality, blame reality for not conforming to the truth of the theory
Economists are priests in business suits.

is that a Tokamak reactor those make me hard

Basically it's "If you want your funding lick our fingers and say what we want people to hear you say or else."

That is a fusion reactor, possibly the one currently being built by the EU.

Scientists generally dont give a shit about politics so them being "compromised" is pretty unlikely.

Fact is the EU is progressive and science is entirely progressive and for the advancement of science. They want globalization because the more scientists you have working on projects the faster breakthroughs can be made.

Leaving the EU significantly hampers British scientists due to funding, lack of access to information from other European countries, more red tape bureaucratic shit, and impedes traveling between the countries for research opportunities.

They honestly dont give a shit about anything else besides science.

Good thing the majority of Britain isn't in science.

Fusion is always only 25 years away :^)

"But we are getting closer ever day."

oh i thought they where magnetic plates and the insides of tokamak reactors look similar

That's what the inside of ITERs fusion reactor should look like when they're done. Those aren't the magnetic plates, all the magnets are inside the center ring and outside the shell.

Ideally plasma will be wrapped around the thing like a ring.

It's supposed to scare us away from Brexit. Like if you vote Leave you won't get your shiny fusion reactor from the EU. But we already have a JET fusion reactor here so we will have to make do with that and learn what we can before they pull the plug.

Tokamak reactors are pretty cool for what it's worth.

The only answer is to keep trying, have you imagined the massive butthurt the mudshits will suffer once oil is no longer the best energy source? Imagine the face of the whole SA as their fortune burns.

That's a tokamak design for a fusion reactor. Another popular design for fusion reactors is the stellarator which is being used in the Wendelstein 7-X.

>Lysenkoism
Lysenkoism, or Lysenko-Michurinism was the centralized political control exercised over genetics and agriculture by Trofim Lysenko and his followers. Lysenko was the director of the Soviet Union's Lenin All-Union Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

From 1934 to 1940, under Lysenko's admonitions and with Stalin's approval, many geneticists were executed (including Isaak Agol, Solomon Levit, Grigorii Levitskii, Georgii Karpechenko and Georgii Nadson) or sent to labor camps. The famous Soviet geneticist Nikolai Vavilov was arrested in 1940 and died in prison in 1943. Hermann Joseph Muller (and his teachings about genetics) was criticized as a bourgeois, capitalist, imperialist, and promoting fascism so he left the USSR, to return to the USA via Republican Spain.

In 1948, genetics was officially declared "a bourgeois pseudoscience"; all geneticists were fired from their jobs (some were also arrested), and all genetic research was discontinued. Nikita Khrushchev, who claimed to be an expert in agricultural science, also valued Lysenko as a great scientist, and the taboo on genetics continued (but all geneticists were released or rehabilitated posthumously). The ban was only waived in the mid-1960s.

Thus, Lysenkoism caused serious, long-term harm to Soviet knowledge of biology. It represented a serious failure of the early Soviet leadership to find real solutions to agricultural problems, throwing their support behind a charlatan at the expense of many human lives.

>Neo-Lysenkoism
The word 'Neo-Lysenkoism' has occasionally been invoked by hereditarian researchers as a rhetorical term in the debates over race and intelligence and sociobiology to describe scientists minimizing the role of genes in shaping human behavior.

There are subtle differences between the ITER / JET reactors and the Russian takamak reactor in appearance but I agree they look similar.
