Evangelion music and Sagisu's work in general was very much influenced and inspired by Ifukube's music.
Sagisu making the soundtrack for Shin was like a chain of music going full circle.

Yeah he is obviously using his Evangelion music and using it on Shin shamelessly. Honestly I thought it was hilarious but it didn't ruin it because it works, it's music that fits the scenes in the movie.
