Battle of the greats

Plain and simple, who's the better director?

They are tied. Both only made two great films.

Bringing out the Dead and Goodfellas. Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown.

All the others were just very good or merely entertaining or even shit.

They were the directors for their time and place. Marty is 70s NYC. Quentin is 90s LA.

Tarantula is a screenwriter, weird to compare them.

How is bringing out the dead better in any way than Raging Bull, The Departed, Taxi Driver or any other of Marty's movies? I mean I liked it but it's nowhere near his best.

I think Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown are great movies but I would put Inglourious Basterds above Jackie Brown. I think IB is Quentin's best.

Hard to say. They are both so good in there own right when they stick to what made them legendary. I would pick Tarantula but thats just my personal preference. If I had been born before 1980 it would probably be the other way around.

Scorsese:
>A cunning true tale of the underdog Italian American youth who starts with nothing and makes it big being a criminal, getting into shenanigans with drugs and cheating on his spouse, until one day his world is turned upside down when he gets in trouble by the law, and he has to sell out his friends in order to get off scot free and write a shitty memoir about it all.

Tarantula:
>Anachronistic minority revenge porn with CGI blood! Every character is a caricature and Christof Watlz plays a condescending German man. The main character slaughters people to the sound of shitty jigaboo music!

Take your fucking pick

scorsese winning his oscar is like a cover band winning a grammy

>Scorsese vs a manchild

this is a tough one

>marty's only two great films are BoTD and goodfellas

holy shit are you retarded or trolling??

they only gave it to him to make up for not giving it to him years ago.

I hope you feel good about yourself. Youve reached a new level of contrarian.

and in doing so bumped some other deserving director

What's wrong with Tarantino's left arm?

>holy shit are you retarded or trolling??

Casino is merely very good. Taxi Driver edginess didn't age well and Raging Bull is a watch-it-once-is-enough "masterpiece".

Bringing out the Dead is a great film because it is completely unique in almost every way. An uncategorizable film.

Scorsese is the better director, obviously. They are both overrated though

>Martin Scorsese – The Departed
>Alejandro González Iñárritu – Babel
>Clint Eastwood – Letters from Iwo Jima
>Stephen Frears – The Queen
>Paul Greengrass – United 93

Eh, oscar was a "sorry it took so long" prize for Marty, but competition wasnt that strong that year anyway.

Let's be honest most of ole Marty's filmography falls into the realm of Very Good / Enjoyable and doesn't reach the level of greatness.

Most of his later stuff is borderline unwatchable (Departed), almost a comical imitation of his earlier genre work.

Tarantino is wasting his prime years by not being able to kick his drug addiction.

You misspelled Casino

This

Marty makes flicks. Tarantino makes cinema.

caleb?

>Tarantino
Isn't he the dude with pictures of him licking feet on the "small side" and has literal cuckoldry scenes?
