>Yeah Will is re-recording Twin Fantasy, but at least we still have the origina...
Wrong. Will is editing the original 2011 Twin Fantasy on Bandcamp right now. He is pressing it to vinyl so he has made some changes to avoid copyright issues. He has removed all the homages to other artists on the album.
Go on Bandcamp right now and listen to "High to Death." Originally this song ended with lyrics interpolated from Pink Floyd/Syd Barret, but now it just fades out.
If you don't have the original Twin Fantasy already downloaded from before he changed it you're fucked.
Kevin Wilson
you're more fucked if you listen to this shitty ass music though
Zachary Morales
i feel like enough people have it for it to be available on every torrent site or whatever
although perhaps listeners finding it years from now might never hear the original or care about it if the rerecording is good enough, i wouldn't mind hearing one with not trash production
Blake Carter
i don't see how this prevents you from listening to the original, if you care about this album so much that you complain about it on Sup Forums then you should already have it downloaded.
Adam Wilson
also, what the fuck are you on about 'all the homages', the only one he removed is the pink floyd one, the others like the Ana Ng one on Cute Thing are still there and will also be on the new version. Do your fucking research before whining on Sup Forums

Please be sure to check out the new, reimagined twin fantasy and consider purchasing a physical copy. The original version you all know and love will be back on streaming platforms the same day as the release of Face to Face. The original version, which we have dubbed 'Mirror to Mirror', is also available as a limited pressing on Record Store Day, which takes place on April 21st this year.

Will you piece of shit. Ya think being up past midnight Is enough of an excuse to escape my response? I'm afraid you're sadly mistaken Ohio Boy. I got ya, deep in my clutches now, and there isn't any amount re-imagination possible on your part to envision any sort of escape from my grasp. Down in the dirty abyss of my primordial sea, you're mine. That being said, have a good one man, keep up the good work period
Leo Murphy
That's what OP said...
Easton Rivera
Why would he do this? Does hee think the original might be taken down for copyright issues so to preserve it he's editing it? Would think just fixing it in the rerecording would be fine
Chase Sanders
in addition to the rerecording, the original version i s also being remastered, check the matador preorder page.
Henry Ward
oo scary thanks bb
Chase Hill
Well you acknowledge that it's going to piss people off, why are you doing it, Will?
Justin Perry
When you say the original is that with or without this now missing end to High To Death
Oliver Mitchell
the album never came out finished, nothing is stopping you from listening to the original garageband version if thats the version you prefer, but you should give the new one a shot because to put it simply it's a more complete work. It's clear some people are pissed off because they think Faces to Faces will lack emotional vocal delivery, and they think the only reason Twin Fantasy is a good album in the first place is because of depressed gay college kid or whatever. The 'revised' version is what the original should have been in the first place, it's what was envisioned in those 'depressed gay college kid' days, not something that popped up after the matador signing. It's completely fair to have some sort of prejudice coming into the album because you're afraid of the charm being lost, but just give it a chance and I'm sure you will welcome some of the changes. Even if you aren't a fan of the singles, they are better experienced in the context of the album, so just wait a little bit before ruling out the new version.
Austin Robinson
Not him but will definitely be giving the new version a listen But still, why mess with the original at all? K Why not keep the original there alone and have all these revisions only on the new version
Hudson Walker
The 'original' version that's available on streaming platforms is called 'Mirror to Mirror', it's basically a polished up version of the original, 'remaster' if you will. That might scare you but don't expect major changes, if many changes at all. The end of High to Death had to be removed for the vinyl pressing, everyone has been begging for it so just look at the bright side. After the travesty of ToD it's not worth the risk, same thing happened with The Gun Song (the version on Spotify has a small portion at the end removed for similar reasons).
Charles James
basically answered that in new post, you guys should be used to revisions by now, the 'original' version of Twin Fantasy is actually the third version, and other albums like How To Leave Town have received changes post-release.
Bentley Peterson
Understandable That's unfortunate it had to be taken out. Thanks for taking the time to respond, excited to hear the new version
Charles Scott
no problem, hope you like it :)
Brandon Powell
>Going full Kanye life of Pablo with your career this early on No ones going to sort out 3 versions of the same album
Isaac Watson
>tfw i have like 7 versions of tlop (kanye's versions and fan modified versions) Help me
Juan Morgan
I wouldn't really compare this with TLOP, this isn't 'living art' and Kanye West didn't originally record his album using garageband only to completely re-imagine the entire thing 6 years later.
Carter Ramirez
Does it mean I'm gonna be rich one day?
Lucas Morris
user everyone and their dog has a copy of this album
Gabriel Turner
Hey Will, If you're still here, I just want to say don't fuck around and completely change up Bodys like you did to Nervous Young Inhumans. Thanks, love you, have a good day.
Noah Price
tons of people saying to be careful with bodys for some reason haha, nervous young inhumans had a lot of work done to it as the overall concept of the song was rethought, whereas I'm sure you noticed Beach Life-in-Death was largely the same. Bodys is still the catchy fun poppy song on the album, you should enjoy it.
Jordan Walker

Ryder Clark
With all this shit now a new album won't be coming until next year right?
Bentley Bennett

Bodys is the best.

New album will be shit. Nervous young inhumans and blid were fucking ruined by will.
Adrian Gray
Is the white background MS paint cover art you have on your Twitter thingy actual artwork? I was under the impression it was a joke, but I saw it up on Spotify.
Aaron White
And more importantly, in our HEART drives :)
Christopher Murphy
Will Toledo isn't that amazing, Car Seat Headrest and Twin Fantasy are just meme music given flesh. Great that this is somehow going to generate money, though; and now people can feel good about having downloaded an album in 2012 as opposed to 2018! Music history, you guys. Music history.
Thomas Martin

that's the artwork from Hojin Stella Jung, if it hasn't clicked yet it might when the album comes out. There is also some artwork from Cate so don't worry about that.
Ian Hall
Can anyone post a Mega to the original
Jackson Jenkins
I second this!
Landon Nguyen
Nu-Nervous Young Inhumans actually sounds amazing in every regard except vocals. The stretchy, wineyness makes listening almost unbearable I HATED the galvanism part, so the removal of that is fine for me.
Adrian Harris
Fuck, anyone got the original album saved? I thought the band camp would be left alone :-;
Charles Collins
wtf is wrong with you
Isaac Phillips
nailed it
Nathan Robinson
>Removes galvanistic cause we're too retarded for it
Luke Hall
or 'removes galvanistic cause' because the song isn't about galvanism anymore
Luke Howard
Please leave Sober to Death alone, Will, that's my favorite song.
Hunter Gomez
>I'm honestly irrationally peeved that he's changing the lyrics, like fuck Will just leave it the lyrics were so good.
>I just think that this album doesn't make sense with a studio polish. Yes, they're the same songs, but it's missing the aesthetic quality of Will sitting in his dorm room depressed as fuck, writing this album. It just doesn't really make sense as an album anymore, in the original the lyrics and the shitty recording quality all kind of came together to make something really charming and most of all, HONEST. If I had to describe twin fantasy 2011 in one way, it would be honest. Brutally honest. The rawness was integral to it as a work of art. The new versions lack the catharsis the original ones had, because they are missing that honesty. It all feels so... calculated. Will's vocals don't have that unhinged quality that made them so perfect on the 2011 recording. On this version every inflection seems planned. It's just soulless.
What's your response to this Will? Saw it in another thread and I think it's a pretty good argument. The studio polish doesn't make sense with Twin Fantasy as an album. The original recording of the album is good because of the honesty and rawness, a rawness that was contributed too by the lo fi sound.
Wyatt Clark
both albums still exist, dude.
Ayden Hernandez
Does anyone have a DL to the original? I am a spotify plebian :)
Landon Anderson
I'm just downloading the fucking youtube video of it lol.
Luke Thomas
What versions of twin fantasy currently exist? All I have is the MP3 off bandcamp
Jonathan Lopez
you'll be able to find a torrent of it dum dum
Brayden Anderson
Sure the lyrics were good, if you like them so much, listen to the original, nothing is stopping you. It's expected that people are scared the album is going to lose it's charm, but they haven't heard the full thing yet. The 'shitty recording quality' was less of an aesthetic and more literal, the recording quality was shitty. If you think the album is garbage when it sounds normal and not like a mess of instrumentation, then listen to the original, but I'd listen to the album before forming that opinion.
Jonathan Evans
William McAteer III is a far superior musician over Car seat.
Jose Johnson
Where nibber?
Asher Rivera
the first demo where the basslines are played on guitar
the second version where the bass is mixed very low, this is the first release and the original bandcamp version
the 'original' third version where the bass is mixed louder, this was added a bit after the first release
and now the fourth version called 'Mirror to Mirror', a polished up version.
Blake Miller
there's obviously also the rerecording (Face to Face)
Kevin Wood
If you're still here will or if anyone knows this: im trying to learn how to play Bodys on guitar and in the first chorus theres an ascending riff that i cant make out that nobody has tabbed out, anyone know how its played?
Aaron Gomez
>bought a cassette of twin fantasy in 2012 for $5

Brandon Smith
I love you pretty boy. I like the song I-94 W because I drive on that everyday.
Leo Hernandez
The reason I'm upset that he removed galvanism is because I see it as a dumbing down of the song as galvanism was used to describe how the guy he was imaging to be perfect was full of this energy that sustained life itself, his life. It also draws parallels to Frankenstein's monster, how Will is constructing this artificial individual that's going to turn on him and destroy him when his expectations don't match reality, just like Frankenstein's monster turned on Frankenstein.
Will should not have constructed this unrealistic individual and pinned himself to him, an incredible blown up person that defies reality. Just like Frankenstein shouldn't have created his monster.
But instead we got that replaced with, " You never lifted your voice, you never raised your hand." So what, we got that all replaced with simply saying that his boyfriend was never abusive and cared about him. But yet there's still the line about how you'll gets what you want and you'll get what you deserve. Which worked well in the original but now I'm just confused.
And even though we have the originals still, This will be the version I will have to sing along to when he performs live and hear. This will be the version that many new fans will only know when he could have just left the lyrics alone and improved the instrumentation so his band was fully utilized and had an expected way to play them live. This is also why I hope the lyrics of Sober to Death are not changed like here.
Also tell me if what I'm saying is not true and I'm misunderstanding something. I'm only human.
Tyler Perry
Will wtf
Brody Murphy
Will? More like Won't!
Liam Cox
Your music is total trash
Brody Wood
fuck you
Xavier Anderson
Exactly, the 2011 Twin Fantasy album is a great example of Gesamtkunstwerk, All the components that make up the album, the lyrics, the vocals, the instrumentation, the production value, etc, all work together to perfectly express what Will was going through.
Him having to deal with his homosexuality, his anxiety surrounding change, his depression, him idealizing others and then being heavily disappointed when reality doesn't meet his expectations. All these themes, like you said, being expressed through his lyrics and the raw, low fi sound constantly reminding you how honest a piece of work this is, a young teenager trying to express and figure out all his emotions through what he had available to him, for the world to hear.
But when you remove components of the piece through changing how the instruments sound and changing the lyrics, you not only effect what you're changing but the whole expression and synthesis of the album. When he polishes the sound and changes the honest lyrics decided at the time he made it when he was as young as he was, he fucks with its Gesamtkunstwerk.
Wyatt Phillips
thank you will
