Being the greatest in something that doesn't matter is literally worthless. Your mom is the greatest whore in Great Britain but still no one acknowledges her.

Arguably the greatest heavyweight, probably not the greatest pound-for-pound. He definitely wasn't a meme though, he fought everyone he was supposed to when he was supposed to and gave us a few classic fights

Sugar Ray Robinson is the greatest boxer of all time.

The greatest Heavyweight of all time is either Muhammad Ali or Joe Louis.

/thread

>Joe Louis

*tips*

Why so salty?

Lennox Lewis would knock him out

I feel like his story outside of the ring influences peoples thoughts of him as a boxer

> Joe Louis

HIS MOMMA CALL HIM CLAY

Jack Johnson was also a beast

Greatest in terms of inspirational story, intelligence, pushing the culture and sport forward, being a tremendous fighter and a champion, all that shit. But in terms of just in-ring skill there's definitely guys who could beat him, plus there's a few questionable wins on his record due to Mob influence, but thems were the times. Obviously no other heavyweight in history has a life that can compare to Ali, some people are just bigger and more important than others, regardless of skill. Ali was that.

I SHOOK UP THE WAWLD

no, its mainly politics, he was in the right place in the right time to become a pop-culture icon

Manny Pacquiao is the greatest ever. Nobody ever climb 8 divisions and everyone except blacks thinks Manny beat Gayweather

>it's the white man's fault

lol wut

prime tyson or prime foreman were the undisputed GOATS

Ali pulled of -what has to be- the best comeback ever.

I think there are better fighters than him, but the reason why he's still remembered to this day is because he was more than just a gifted boxer. He had great banter and spoke up against controversy during his time like the Vietnam draft and race issues.
Ali is the greatest, but he's not the best.

Who did Tyson beat? Spinks? Next

I'd say it's 60's fault. Vietnam, civil rights movement, cultural marxism and TV-becoming the dominant media.

>Prime Tyson
>GOAT

Larry Holmes

He was past his prime, coming off a 2 fight losing streak to Spinks

CHI

Buster Douglas was the GOAT

Pacquiao is Filipino, you dip.

He was a meme literrally, he robbed Norton 2 times, ducked Foreman for a rematch knowing he would get anihilated and just a featherfist.
He was just the biggest loudmouth in boxing, that's why people thinks he is great and the Klitschko's suck.

And fixed match against Liston.

Meme fighter. He didn't even bite anyone's ear off.

Tyson would have made a mockery of him. I don't give a fuck about what people say about the quality of opponents. You fight who you fight. Tyson is and always will be the greatest boxer of all time. We will never see anyone as savage as that ever again because men these days are absolute pussies.

Why can't he be both?

Only beat joe frazier by shenanigans in the rematch as well.

FWIW, Ali himself considered Marciano as the best other than himself, IIRC.

That's a meme.

It was a clean KO. Joe Wolcott botched the count, yes, but it was still a KO. It only looked like a phantom punch because of the camera angle.

>Sonny Liston was nearly 40
Sonny was at most 33 at the time of their first match (claimed to be 31), and had annihilated Patterson eight months before.

>Prime Foreman
Ali beat Foremans dumb, fatass

He was good and a big draw but certainly not the best/greatest.

Sugar Ray Robinson is the greatest boxer ever, Ali himself even said so

this

>Implying Tyson wouldn't snap him in half
Wew

watch some FULL Ali fights.
a whole lot of endlessly leaning on each other.
yee

Yes but he SAID he was the greatest and he won. Therefore, he is the greatest. Memed it into existence desu. Ahead of his time.

This. Mandingo got robbed and Ali is overrated. Good, but definitely not the greatest.

Mayweather is the best boxer ever and it's not even close, if boxing had Elo ratings he'd be 300 points clear of everyone but SRR, a guy with 200 fights in the 40s and 50s

Leonard, Robinson, Tunney, Hagler, Jones Jr

Never seen a full fight of him. Looked pretty good on highlights though.

>leonard, hagler
muh fab 4 are frauds, none of them managed to truly distinguish themselves from their own generation so obviously they cannot be GOAT

Liston was into some shady shit, he had a good chin and Ali was anything but a hard punchers.
I don't know if Liston took a dive or not but he obviously didn't wanted to get up

>muh fab 4 are frauds
imagine how fucking stupid you have to be to type this

^__^

Frazier was better
