I was arguing the exact opposite. Screamo is a one-trick pony; it thrives on its edginess. MCR and FOB actually took that already dull post-hardcore sound and improved on it, combining elements of Alternative Rock, Midwest Emo and Pop. They reinvigorated that genre into something worthwhile, which rendered Screamo bands all but obsolete by the early 2000s.

Not emo, but you might like this. It's probably the closest thing that exists to Tonda Gossa's sound that ever went anywhere, except maybe TWIABP in their synthier moments. I considered Heca Firimar my favorite band for a while in 2011-2012 when they were making this.
