Honestly speaking, what are the chances of Russia successfully taking back Constantinople/Istanbul if they moved to annex it from Turkey?
The more I think about it the more illogical it gets. I'm pretty sure they can blow through the army (they outnumber them vastly) but Russia's been a paper tiger for a long time. I don''t think they have what it takes to commit to a long term occupation of Turkey without crashing hard. Especially with the more religiously zealous Chechens and Dagestani's chimping out in their borders.
I can't even imagine a war of such scale without nukes. It's just impossible and there is no point in discussing it.
Tyler Ortiz
Yep nothing to see here, Australians being retards as usual.

>the more I think about it the more illogical it gets it was illogical at the start, you're just slow

But WHY would we?

Back during Rurikovich times our they somehow got a Byzantine princess to marry, giving them a somewhat valid claim to Constantinople. Rurikovich has been a dead dynasty for a while though.

What has that to do with modern Russia which descends from the Bolshevik takeover and has declared itself their successor?

firstly
>take it back
it was never rightfully theirs to begin with
secondly, the chance is zero, it's impossible
Liam Walker
The last sentence of my previous post answers your question.

It would be extremely easy if the Anglos didnt feel threatened of Russia expanding its power and get in the way like always. You'd probably unite with the Turks again.
Noah Barnes
>paper tiger Youre thinking of China. We're a very real bear.

Turkey seems to cooperate just fine with Russia nowadays so I doubt there's any need for aggression.

but that Ivan is right tho Turkey have the biggest army in europe
i hope you are not serious about that. first turkey is a nato member and russia would get destroyed if it attacks turkey. second putin is already gagging on erdogan's cock because putin wants turkey to be friendly towards russia. and russian military is total shit without nukes. and of course instanbul and all that region is a rightful turkish clay, they conquered it fairly (like russia conquered kaliningrad or kuril islands for example). only braindead Sup Forumstards think something like that might actually happen.

"taking" istanbul is unrealistic and pure meme. The USA who have the strongest army spend billions and billions of dollars on wars in irak and afghnistan for a shitty result. Turkey is way stronger than those 2 country combine. It's not 1700 anymore you can't conquer like in age of empires.
Luis Brown
lol cringe.You can't delete this post :D

You do realize that if the U.S. initiated a total war scenario we could take every capital/city on the planet. Without any real problems.
Just look how quickly we took over Iraq in 2003, and that was only a small portion of our military.
Ethan Walker
Russian army is only a single man: Putin himself.
Leo Baker
Yes, I also remember how smoothly the occupation of Iraq went.
David Smith
>we could take every capital/city on the planet stop there keyboard warrior. You can't touch countries that has nukes.
