I'm stunned that people actually hate Death Grips, I understand not liking them but they have like no bad albums at all and their live performances are some of the greatest of all time. So to people who hate Death Grips, why do you hate Death Grips? Shitty fanbase doesn't count

Edginess and pretentiousness has never molded so perfectly, or in this case, more terribly. Their samples fail to properly convey anything else other than their moronic barbarian ideologies, and MC Ride's "rapping" could be surpassed by any asylum patient with a hole in their head.

everything you just said is part of the appeal of death grips music

Just listened to NOTM, don't quite know how I feel about it. Gonna listen again today, might grown on me like GP.

If simplistic gibberish akin to cavemen bonking their heads with rocks is in anyway appealing to you, then you've failed to understand the beauty of music. Someone should escort you out the proverbial door and let you fall into the ravine of skeletons. Immature beast.

Checked

NOTM is definitely in the lower half of death grips albums for me. if jenny death hadn't ended up so good, TPTB might be one of my least favorite

you write like a pretentious faggot

>If simplistic gibberish akin to cavemen bonking their heads with rocks is in anyway appealing to you, then you've failed to understand the beauty of music. Someone should escort you out the proverbial door and let you fall into the ravine of skeletons. Immature beast.
I sincerely hope this is parody.

Really? Out of what I've listened to so far, it was really good. A lot more of an interesting listen than say, Exmilitary.

You sound like myself at 15. That's not a good thing.

>I sincerely hope this is parody.
Of course it is you fucking retards.

People who hate them are so fucking pleased with themselves

So elaborating my thoughts in a somewhat laconic, yet relatively eloquent manner signifies pompousness to you? No wonder this board has utterly failed. Primitivism has envenomed our mentality to the point where we express such one-dimensional platitudes.

juicy pasta

Death Grips used to be my favorite band and I can't listen to them anymore. Incredibly pretentious and shitty lyrics and listening to Ride just becomes a chore after a while. Not to mention that all their songs seem to blend together.

they're not worthy of hate. there's so many other bands i'd rather listen to

...

wew

>Incredibly pretentious and shitty lyrics
That is one of my gripes with this band. I never know when they're joking or not with some of the shit they say.

Why not combine the two?

a thing of true beauty

>I never know when they're joking or not with some of the shit they say.
I think that it's important to keep in mind that it's all a performance with Death Grips. Whether they're "joking" or "being serious" is kind of beside the point. Being entertaining and visceral seems to be their main focus.

theyre a great project

and then if you catch someone with this bait, just hit em with the
>So elaborating my thoughts in a somewhat laconic, yet relatively eloquent manner signifies pompousness to you? No wonder this board has utterly failed. Primitivism has envenomed our mentality to the point where we express such one-dimensional platitudes.

Truly a new pasta has been born

I can see that, but some of these lines just suck me right out of whatever atmosphere they were trying to create.
>I'M THE COAT HANGER IN YOUR MAN'S VAGINA (coat hanger in your man's vagina)
It is entertaining however, so I'll go in with a different attitude next time.

I really liked Jenny Death when it came out but now its probably tied with Exmilitary for my least favorite project of theirs

And at this point, I decide to leave this website and retain my sanity before the trees roll down the shrouded mountains.

The more I listen to from them, the lower Exmilitary moves down on my list.

yeah same
its definitely not bad, especially considering that it is their first project
but compared to everything else they did its very unfocused and rough

Yeah. Speaking of that, what were your thoughts on JD? I listened to NOTM, and I'm going to listen to JD today. I've heard the first two tracks and On GP.

i don't get why ppl be saying the lyrics is pretentious. them lyrics is funny af

Yeah, a lot of it is either just nonsense or very jokey and tongue in cheek.

cheek in tongue when in doubt

...

>ExM being rough and raw is bad
I'm really feeling that you don't listen to metal or much hardcore punk

feel me now

black dice is underrated

feel me now

VIOLATORS
Very. Has one of my favorite instrumentals on the album.

I know that the roughness in terms of sound is intentional and for the most part I think it works in the albums favor (spread eagle, i want it i need it, klink for example)
But I mean rough in terms of execution, like kind of all over the place stylistically and therefore pretty hit or miss
songs like thru the walls or blood creepin just dont do anything for me

Does anyone know how to navigate thirdworlds.net to find all the secret shit they have lurking? Here's the stems for GP, NLDW, and BP here that an user gave me in another thread:

thirdworlds.net/files/govt-plates-stems.zip
thirdworlds.net/files/nldw-stems.zip
thirdworlds.net/files/bottomless-pit-stems.zip

feed em' vapors
don't do me no favors

>Fuck atlas my ego palms planets
is one of my favorite lyrics of theirs

I still like most of JD but it feels like many of the songs drag on for too long without too much variation (Beyond Alive, Powers That B, Why A Bitch Gotta Lie)
Turned Off, Centuries of Damn and On GP are still up there among their best tracks imo

>being this much off the mark
Are you literally autistic?

adinadinadinadinadin
I felt that way about some of the tracks on GP, particularly Whatever I Want, which, even though it has some very phenomenal moments, goes on longer than I felt it should've.

No. And none of those links were ever secret, those are all things the band linked publicly at some point on their social media.

What? Only two of those are mine?

Chad: Ex Military, No Love Deep Web, Jenny Death

Soyboy: The Money Store, Government Plates, Niggas on the Moon, Bottomless Pit

Additional example:
thirdworlds.net/files/niggas-on-the-moon.zip
^ The original NOTM download is still up.

Okay, thanks for telling me.

>being this insecure about other people's opinions on music

Maybe, but all of those are autistic, including yours. You can't possibly say Thru the walls and Blood creepin do nothing for you, except if you're dead inside.

for some reason i think thats really awesome.

You know the inability to understand different opinions is a common symptom of autism?

>you MUST like these two specific tracks or you're dead inside
>calling others autistic

No, I'm pretty much secure.

Their lyrics aren't pretentious. They're esoteric. You're not supposed to be under the impression that they're 'deep'.

I think Thru the Walls is batshit insane, it's fantastic and cathartic. Blood Creepin, while not my favourite, is a great closer. What better way to end such a raw album with the agressiveness and loudness up to eleven? I think you have to be in the mood for ExM that is all. It's not as immediate as later outpout but when it clicks it sticks.

Those tracks aren't even that good. They're just loud.

as their later output*

see

It is awesome, considering NotM's 'final' release within TPTB is so different. A little piece of history.
Probably the closest thing to an actual secret as well, since the Plates download is visibly linked on the website's front page but this isn't.

>they're just loud
you sound like those dadrockists that call anything that is somewhat heavy just "noise"

>live performances are some of the greatest of all time.

I like Death Grips and all but what? I mean, WHAT?

Sure.

You're oblivious. I don't even know what I'm doing here. I bet you think Eh is an example of a good Death Grips song.

So are most of their fans to be fair

blood creepin is just a worse version of the concept they executed fully on NLDW
thru the walls is crazy and intense the on the first listen but gets old quickly imo
the airhorns dont help

Everyone who I've talked to who's actually seen them live agrees.

youtube.com/watch?v=ap9QXWiUOlI

maybe not greatest of all time but still pretty great regardless

I haven't listened to it yet.

too bad NLDW takes huge dip after Lock Your Doors only tos return with BRSOtS

whats so different about TPTB version?

>1:10 when the kick comes in
fucking incredible

>the airhorns don't help
but that's the best part

I would agree but I really like Deep Web and Stockton.

yeah I agree, would probably rate it in the lower half of their discog as well

also you can dance to it

What doth your phrase, "wew"? It, to this individual signifies your total rejection of all possibilities counter to your own ideology by means of mock. I reject your wew, you barbarian.

A lot of their stuff could fit in DJ set.

>Deep Web and Stockton
>not Hunger Games
where's the taste I think you lost it man

>Original cover art design was scrapped in favour of a different one
>Digital TPTB doesn't include the individual album covers at all
>Have A Sad Cum got changed to Have A Sad Cum BB
>Original release includes the phrase 'have a sad cum, bb' in the Comments field of each track's metadata (I shit you not)

yeah no shit, but Thru the Walls has that reggaeton horn and it goes so fucking hard you can basically put it in a rave mix

>calling mostly playback gigs great

Jokes aside, the clip looks pretty cool but to call it anything extraordinary, let alone, "some of the greatest live performances of all time" is ridiculous overkill and tells much about the annoying fanboy-culture surrounding the band. An this comes from someone who really rather likes DG, Ex-military is definitely in my all time Top-20.

Thanks for posting this user. Have a Bjork.
Hunger Games always felt like a bit of a drag but it has its moments, and they are great. Pretty good instrumental too.
True.

t. Sup Forums crossover who only listens to white nationalist classical composers

i'm not even defending death grips but god are you cringy

personally OP i think you're letting your love of DG blind you. not everyone is gonna like what you like or think how you do. i too like DG and super appreciate them for pushing boundaries in music but can see why someone would absolutely hate their music

lol I always see people call Death Grips pretentious, that's the fuckin opposite of Death Grips. they literally have a song called Trash which tongue-in-cheek discusses the ephemeral nature of their music. they're just in it to make some music and have fun. never has Death Grips themselves claimed to be important, in fact they seem to avoid drawing too much attention. pretension is not a fault of their music by any stretch.

>in fact they seem to avoid drawing too much attention
I don't think the whole NLDW affair was them avoiding attention.

Every Death Grips fan I've encountered have all been the dyed hair millennial white types that are offended about everything and think people over the age of 25 shouldn't be allowed to vote. As I have nothing in common with these people I doubt very seriously if I would enjoy their preferred music. Listened to a few tracks to see what the hype was about and pretty confirmed my view.

Unfortunate that their fanbase has come to be like that.

Well, every Death Grips fan I've encountered have all been normal.

To me their just a shittier version of The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy.

>t. Sup Forums crossover who only listens to white nationalist classical composers
Wrong, even whites are capable of making incoherent garbage. Ever listened to Limp Bizkit?

miss me?

Not even close to a response to his accusation. Try again.

there's no way to navigate by file but there is this thing

test.thirdworlds.net

this hasn't changed since TPTB was released.

Thank you. Do you want a Bjork?

Fine. I'm not even remotely close to a white nationalist. I never browse Sup Forums, and I absolutely abhor their beliefs and political stances. Music as an art form is supposed to represent the creativity and eclecticism we have as humans, and the beauty that blooms inside from that individuality. Racism aims to annihilate all forms of individuality, and in turn, keep us in a tepid state of meaninglessness, where the prison of solitude kills us all. How dare you insinuate that I only enjoy classical works from white composers?

Your posts are fucking gold, man. Keep it up.

yeah gimme a bjork

Anything specific? Like, what age you'd want, what part of her body of work, stuff like that.
