Silence 2017

Is anyone else here really excited for Scorsese's Silence?

"In the 17th century, two Portuguese Catholic priests — Sebastião Rodrigues (Andrew Garfield) and Francisco Garrpe (Adam Driver) — face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor Father Cristóvão Ferreira (Liam Neeson), who has committed apostasy after being tortured. The story is set in the time of Kakure Kirishitan ("Hidden Christians") which followed the defeat of the Shimabara Rebellion (1637–1638) of Japanese Roman Catholics against the Tokugawa shogunate."

I can't wait. Love the novel, looks like a great film, been getting good early reviews as well.

shameless self bump

Will there be cocaine???? Then no.

>am I just praying to...silence?
some kino right there

>evil, godless Japs vs. benevolent Catholic European invaders

I'm really getting tired of these Jewish tricks

A new dawn for Cathlikino everywhere.

is this the period that was in Samurai Champloo

if so I'm in

yep. They both reference the Shimabara Rebellion, though SC jumps around and references a lot of different events from roughly the same time.

Champloo was intentionally an anachronistic mess you loon. The Kakure Kirishitan took place in 1630, but they also meet Commodore Perry who only arrived in the mid 1800s

Jews are with the Samurai dumbass

Anime is degeneracy that makes white unable to carry out their family linage

It was the final kamikaze Nippon makes before they leave this world

Looks like kino to me.

Father Ferreira, I'm SHOGUN

should have been DAIMYO

why the fuck does it feel like every other famous Nip actor is named Watanabe

The accent on that Japanese guy is fucking laughable. He sounds fucking french

Is this the first Scorsese movies with a black protagonist?

nice trips, shit post

impressive digits gaijin

I'm sorry but so far Garfield's accent is nothing short of horrifying. I'm not going to be able to endure a full 2 hrs of that shit

Its actually 2.5 hours long, enjoy!

those are Jesuits user, the black parts are just robes

thank you for your opinions, user-kuns

*Gimme Shelter starts playing*

kek

>Portugese in Japan

>Speak perfect english

Okay sure

>Posts on Mongolian comic board

>Writes in English

Okay sure

uhh why is Andrew Garfield in fucking everything?

>Samurai Champloo
It's sort of understandable why in such movies characters speak English, but I wish producers would actually take the time to teach actors the specific languages of the time period their films are set in.

Watching this film in 17th century Portuguese and Japanese would be amazing.

Because Gael Garcia Bernal, Daniel Day Lewis and Benicio Del Toro all were attached and then left when it never got off the ground.

next logical casting choice is of course Spiderman

>the board is mongolian
>not the comics

wrong

He is great at picking projects that get a lot of interest

Made some capeshit bux then rode the Michael Shannon hypewave, took a risk on a Mel's comeback and now is pulling a no brainer by working with Scorsese

holy shit that'd be great
