How do you feel about a helicopter ride?

Shill/slide thread. Sage or ignore.

orwell was very different to modern leftists. he despised white guilt and feminism and faggotry (or the forms of it that were around at the time)

They're more like Brave New World/Harrison Bergeron.

By pointing out that all Western Countries are democratic and socialist.

And that communists and marxists are adopting the term to hide their actual beliefs.

ebin

I thought it was common knowledge he was a democratic socialist.

I guess you're referring to Pinochet but my mind immediately went to the helicopter ride in "Brave New World."

>Not reading a Brave New World

desu family it's the more damning one. As much as I loved 1984 it's a tad unrealistic.

>what does democratic mean?

Inb4 Hilldawg

...

>animal farm
Wat

How the fuck is a bunch of talking animals relevant.

Although I did like the scene where he blows up he windmill

FIRE UP THOSE HELICOPTERS

This. Brave New World is the real dystopian masterpiece.

This HAS to be bate... How could you not see the Russian Revolution references? Fucking kek

>1 post

Orwell hated Stalinism precisely because of his own ideal version of Socialism, so there's no contradiction here.

>1 post by this ID

saged and reported now fuck off chili

shit, I didn't even know they had computers there

>Implying socialism can't be totalitarian.

NOT TRUE COMMUNISM GUYS
Orwell was a hack

We watched it in English class when I was a kid.

The only reference I got was Napolean

Funny how Orwell never advocated flooding the country with sandniggers, yet that seems to be the main mission of modern democratic socialist movements.

>Implying i didnt know that orwell was a sozi.
Btw, one post by this ID
RARE

there is computers in cities

If you didn't know Orwell was a socialist, I assume you never finished high school.

Brave New World is for fags, btw.

>HURR WE NEED TO BAN ASSAULT RIFLES
>THE SECOND AMENDMENT IS OBSOLETE

>That rifle on the wall of the labourer's cottage or working class flat is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there. -- George Orwell
See, we can do it, too.

>1 post by this ID

His political philosophy evolved as he got older and eventually distanced himself from socialism. He was an interesting dude and was incredibly critical of communism and spains dust up.

>Implying socialism can't be totalitarian.
No, he didn't imply that at all. He wrote entire books about this very idea.

>democratic socialism meant the same exact thing early last century

Gbt poli sci 101

>i-im toddally socialist, guys, i swear
>plz buy my book

I have never once heard those two books being referred to as "socialism", you texan retard

It means you can smoke weed in the bread line.

How is life in Laos? Are you only nominally socialist like China?

Sup Forums fell for the free-market jew

ITT: We post successful, accomplished democratic socialists
I'll start

His books surely sound anti communism at first, at least the kind of communism the soviets had(aka 'not true communism')

life depends quality depends a lot based on who and what you are and yes the economy is not socialist. we just have leninist dictatorship

WE ARE NOT AND WILL NEVER BE A DEMOCRACY
m.youtube.com/watch?v=ewJyuXSW5nA

DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISM WILL DESTROY AMERICA BY DEFINITION

He probably wasn't familiar with the history of Russia at the time user. Most people born after 1991 arent.

Oh hi Horsey!

George Orwell would kill himself if he saw the state of the west today.

lol the pig was such a kike
Watching the movie and laughing at all the funny faces

What he demonizes really are totalitarianism and authoritarianism, though. The books are about the *perversion* of socialist ideals by totalitarians.

If anything, people should commend him for having been a socialist with enough integrity to still criticize "his own" system and to demonstrate how it can be used to dominate and oppress people.

This guy throws a barrel at the animals and it owns them

Who does he symbolise?

Honestly shocked to hear that Orwell was a DEMOCRATIC socialist
His work, especially animal farm, are extremely critical of democracy and an argument could easily be made for animal farm being anti collectivist.
The only character in the book that is not suffering (physically or spiritually) from collectivism is the horse who is both capable and loves to work. There are some passages that portray him as dumb or simple.

ehhh, a medium rare

I don't know. I've never seen the cartoon. Is that from when the humans attempt to regain control of the farm?

>The only character in the book that is not suffering (physically or spiritually) from collectivism is the horse who is both capable and loves to work.
But he works himself to death.

ayy

Yeah. If hits a cow and it's pretty funny

The donkey and the raven were the ones who didn't suffer

if he hated the feminism and faggotry of the 40s and 50s, can you imagine his reaction today?

Orwell was just a weak ass Chomsky.

>Democratic socialism

Shouldn't even be legal to be this stupid

yes he would be a far right extremist by todays standards, and considering his love of freedom of speech he'd almost definitely post here.

Orwell was red-pilled as fuq

>There is the horrible — the really disquieting — prevalence of cranks wherever Socialists are gathered together. One sometimes gets the impression that the mere words "Socialism" and "Communism" draw towards them with magnetic force every fruit-juice drinker, nudist, sandal-wearer, sex-maniac, Quaker, "Nature Cure" quack, pacifist, and feminist in England.
The Road to Wigan Pier (1937)

>Among the intelligentsia, colour feeling only occurs in the transposed form, that is, as a belief in the innate superiority of the coloured races. This is now increasingly common among English intellectuals, probably resulting more often from masochism and sexual frustration than from contact with the Oriental and Negro nationalist movements. Even among those who do not feel strongly on the colour question, snobbery and imitation have a powerful influence. Almost any English intellectual would be scandalised by the claim that the white races are superior to the coloured, whereas the opposite claim would seem to him unexceptionable even if he disagreed with it. Nationalistic attachment to the coloured races is usually mixed up with the belief that their sex lives are superior, and there is a large underground mythology about the sexual prowess of Negroes.
Notes on Nationalism (1945)

literally saying leftists are cucks all the way back in 1945

So are you Chinese or Japanese?

Pls acknowledge the dog driving the car

Socialism has to be totalitarianism. Any non-totalitarian system functions because nature is allowed to guide the functions that are not controlled by the state.

Socialism is anti-nature at the most basic level, so it require total state administration of all areas of life. Anyone who believes the state of nature IS socialism, "once capitalism is removed" is deluded, but once they're shown to be false they'll continue to double down with more and more state control, always thinking that once the last dissenters are removed, the "natural socialism" will prevail.

But this can never happen since it wasn't true to begin with. They're trying to bring what they consider to be natural, by destroying all social functions that are actually natural. It's evidence of this that all totalitarian systems in recent history have been socialist, including national socialism.

and he loved guns

Socialism doesn't have to be totalitarian.

However, it requires the entirety of the population to both be critically intelligent, as well as buy into the system wholly.

Which is pretty unrealistic/idealistic in humanity's current form.

He's from the ocean

This the second Laos poster I have seen today and ever
What's happening?

Funny, I was going to pick up 1984 from the library just a few days ago.
