What the fuck is their problem?
What the fuck is their problem?
what does this expression convey?
they had no toilet paper for a week before this. stay back
eyy lad im gon shiv yer
*listens to coil and zoviet france*
>zoviet france
what are the best essential albums by them?
i dont know i never listening because of their name and their covers are ugly too
prison is nice
Too cheeky.
free anal
Don't bother.
They sound like an ambient version of Kenny G.
I don't get how they can list Coil as an influence when they don't even sound remotely similar
>an ambient version of Kenny G.
just what i've been looking for my whole life
they shit all over literally everybody in electronic music, thats their problem
Known(1) is essentially Sean and Robs love letter to Coil.
It combines elements of some of their best work.
hi, rob. hi, sean
Don't forget Depeche Mode
Seriously though their influences are so numerous you likely couldn't ask them to sit down and write out a proper list.
>What the fuck is their problem?
they have to compete with new and innovative Mancunian IDM artists IE: thefullmontesquieu.bandcamp.com
they can never come near the quality of juicy rowling
although i despise the idea of ranking music objectively, and i still dont think you can, these guys are the closest to what id approximate what it means to be at the forefront of electronic music
youtube.com
youtube.com
even though there is probably no hope of me going back from already sounding like an elitist cunt, can u link me some people who you think are pushing the envelope further than ae?
the stretch of albums from mohnomishe to 'shadow, thief of the sun' is great. i think 'shouting at the ground' is a nice place to start, though mohnomishe is good if you like things more electronic and 'assault and mirage' is good if you like things more noisy.
generally stay away from the records that don't include robin storey, with a few exceptions
their sound is old and boring now
the fuck is YOUR problem?
you're chilling at the club and these guys come up and slap your gf on the ass with polyrhythmic sub bass pulses
wyd?
they're the forefront of popular electronic music, electroacoustic music was and is the forefront of electronic music in general. autechre are just borrowing from that more than most other artists
...
Most of their output is dance music conceptually distorted in Max/MSP. They've said in interviews that they don't really take much influence from composers or art music because they view them as too stodgy or boring
This user is right.
They are certainly pushing boundaries within the confines of their niche,
but electronic music has already been taken way beyond what they are doing long before they were doing it.
One big thing they have going for them is the generative algorithmic approach they employ.
It is still very referential of their principal influences though.
who cares, you like em or ya don't. fuck who cares about pushing boundaries. what a bunch of intellectual wank. if the music sucks, it doesn't matter. ae has loads of obnoxious garbage and loads of awesome tracks.
honestly it's the vestigial dance music parts that make Autechre not as interesting as they could be
>fuck who cares about pushing boundaries.
well that was kind of the original question, wasn't it?
the original question is WHAT THE FUCK IS THEIR PROBLEM?
rob and sean post here.
.....when does it get good?
Where did I say I did not like them? Or even detract from them?
They are one of my favorite groups, but Im not about to let that cloud my judgement and proclaim them as the end all be all.
Autechre are great but there is a whole lot more experimental music out there.
Lets not get all tribalist over fucking sound now too.
The only difference is ae value rhythm more than electroacoustic music does. show me some of these electroacoustic composers that have surpassed ae in electronic music. and dont name shit like paul doleden cause that's just regular acoustic music mixed clever.
IMO that footing in dance music is what keeps them from flying off into boring wankery
Maybe if some of those electroacoustic nerds threw in a 4-to-the-floor beat every now and then, they'd be more popular
when you have the comfy feeling of cough syrup.
>IMO that footing in dance music is what keeps them from flying off into boring wankery
that's your problem though
>Maybe if some of those electroacoustic nerds threw in a 4-to-the-floor beat every now and then, they'd be more popular
since when is popularity the point? and actually I've heard electroacoustic music that integrates dance music influences
saying "surpassed" opens the door to a retarded pissing contest
I like this a lot though
youtube.com
oh fuck off not another autechre argument thread
shut up these are the good threads
it's all been said
I was actually listening to this the other day and realized its starting to sound a touch dated like incunabula did only a few years back.
All things considered it isn't until Chiclisuite that they really start branching out into their own territory.
shut up
as though all the other threads are full of original, thought provoking discussions
tri repeate is nice though
I think Amber's problem is that it relies primarily on putting a shit ton of flange and delay effects all over everything
autechre fanbase truly as insufferable as boc or aphex. congrats m8s
that is nice but it isn't going to win the pissing contest we are supposed to be having.
it's the same fanbase
call /ourdad/ to beat them up for doing that to my gf
no it isn't, autechre includes a different set of intellectual clowns who are above boc and aphex
I recall hearing that Amber was written in a hurry so Warp could release another Ae album after the Artificial Intelligence compilation blew up.
Which makes sense in retrospect since it's kind of a mess.
except it's one of their best albums, sean
