Reckon its worth it going to see mysterio on the big screen? its only 1 day only and 2 sessions.
Darn it, going to miss these 2 together.
...
Hey are we gonna start the Whomas stream again? Is Schlemmy here?
It seems like quite a crowd-pleaser of an episode, so you probably won't have a bad or awkward time. Really it's just down to whether or not the idea of watching it in a cinema appeals to you.
...
Are most big finish stories 2 hours long? If so, that sucks dick. I was hoping at least a good amount of them would be an hour or less so I could pound them back before bed. Maybe they should start a range of "singles" with two short stories in sets as an A side story and a B side story.
It depends on the range actually. Virtually all McGann stories since like 2007 have been hour-longs (though recently they have been coming out in box sets of 4. Same for the Companion Chronicles).
>Flatline
This one was better than I remembered. Mathieson is definitely the best new writer of the Capaldi era. The tiny TARDIS stuff and Clara playing the Doctor's role are great, although a lot of what makes this episode good is the special effects, which isn't something you get to say often with Doctor Who.
But they're divided into 30-minute episodes. Why not just listen to them two episodes at a time?
There's quite a few hour long audios like the Companion Chronicles, the Eighth Doctor Adventures, Torchwood, and all of the box sets.
I thoroughly enjoy Mathieson's episodes too. Mummy is a favorite here. I was particularly impressed with Flatline because of it's seemingly more "hard sci-fi" elements. I thought the monster was relatively original for nuWho.
I enjoyed his pilot episode of "Tripped" too. A shame the show didn't get another series. It was alot of fun.
And a shit ton of these Short Trips that are only 30 minutes long.
Can we go back to 2010?
>2010
>Series 5
>No Class
>Torchwood and SJA were still airing
>Lis Sladen, Caroline John, Mary Tamm, and Nicholas Courtney still alive
>Big Finish wasn't going full traditional and instead released GOAT stories like Death in the Family
2010 was a pretty cool time to be a Who fan.
Why? We didn't have so much shitposting fodder back then... then again End of Time was fresh garbage.
ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS WHO
Tripped was good. A bit like the Sliders TV show of the 90s, but with the Great Brit sense of humor.
>tfw not even a little bit excited for the christmas episode
just fuck my shit up basically
...
> I thought the monster was relatively original for nuWho.
I'd like to see a return of the Boneless. They were fucking creepy.
CYBERMAN CYBERMAN
DOES WHATEVER A CYBER CAN
Mathieson's monster is a race of aliens that wears human skin to hide. Not like the Slitheens nor the Zygons, proper skin wearing. It's terrifying.
Good, that way even if it's just average you can be satisfied.
doesn't sound terrifying because the only way that would work as a hiding technique is if it passed them off as human, and there's not really anything scary about watching regular human actors pretending they're an alien in disguise
although men in black made it a bit disturbing, so maybe they could go for that angle
>Not like the Slitheens nor the Zygons, proper skin wearing.
But that is what the Slitheen do?
It's exactly how MiB did it.
They played the funny angle with skin looking like suits. This will be proper skin, you'll get to see the actual process of them skinning people. Not as gory as in Class but way more suggestive than the Slitheens. They are under the skin, you can see the skin is worn and there's something inside it if you look close enough and it's disturbing. It's not perfect disguise nor is it "now I look human". It's literally an alien wearing human skin.
Yeah but without cartoonish green babyfaces/farting

BASED MATHIESON
This Who marathon has made me realize that Clara is the worst companion of all time. Is that a popular opinion in /WHO/?
sadly no, but she is literal shit. I've wanted her dead from the minute she joined
Among easily triggered people with zero perspective, maybe.
Reminder that the Christmas special is fun but forgettable.
I literally do not know what you have against her.
I literally don't know what she has going for her so we're sorta in the same boat
Nothing. This is just my first time watching the episodes linearly since their release. It's also my first time posting in this general, I didn't realize it was a hot topic.
Comparing them side by side just makes me realize that Clara is annoying and not that likeable compared to Rose, Amy, Rory and Donna. donnas probably my fav though.
It's also making me like Capaldi less too. Is that a controversial opinion as well??

definitely, the capaldi bros are gonna slaughter you
PS: i'm not a fan either
I don't hate him, just realized ten and eleven were more fun
Is Doctor Who a good show?
Sometimes
I think my marathon is doing just the opposite, I'm finding a greater appreciation for Clara.
Opinions are opinions /who/ is just a shit flinging competition, sometimes you get some flung at you and sometimes you get to fling some. Feel free to read the wiki though, you'll get more familiarized.
Capaldi is GOAT though so you're wrong there. Clara can be pretty boring at first but she gets better with Capaldi.
Doctor Who is fucking shit and I say this as a true fan.
>Rose
>likeable
Can anyone provide me with a link to the last series? I've got some catching up to do.
Torrent or stream?
...
Preferably stream.
Are you guys doing any cytube streams at the moment?
Oh then I dont know, Im more of a torrent guy try here onwatchseries.to
not at the moment, Schlemihl said he'd try to do one today though so we'll see
no but schlemihl said he was gonna continue last night's christmas special stream tonite
cytu dot be slash r slash whomas
i'd rather wait for him to come on before we start the stream but we could watch some other eps in the meantime
As a new poster, please be sure to read Shit Trips: Vol 1, the Who fan fic anthology, with stories all written by /who/ posters, and edited by yours truly. You can find a link to the pdf below.
Get in the whomas stream Immigrant, your idol Cats is there.
>In the Forest of the Night
Basically KTM but not as bad. At least it doesn't have the famous "terrible dilemma" and I didn't really dislike the kids in this one, though I kind of wonder what the point is. Do kids really get a kick out of stuff like Maebh recording the message telling the world's governments not to burn trees instead of the Doctor doing it?
>Dark Water/Death in Heaven
Holy fuck, I forgot Danny Pink died because he forgot to SPLINK. And I think this actually predated the "meme magic" meme, so it looks like /who/ were already meme magicians before Sup Forums and Sup Forums.
I like this one. The buildup to the reveal of the Cybermen is masterful, complete with some red herrings that point to the Daleks instead, Missy is the GOAT Master, I actually found cyberbrig quite touching, and the Doctor and Clara's final scene in the cafe would have been a good ending for Clara. The whole series 8 arc is pretty good overall.
Clara should not have come back for series 9. Her entire presence feels awkward the entire time given the way series 8 ended. Plus the whole fake killing her thing over and over to piss the doctor off in the first couple episodes was so goddamned lame.

We are in whomas doing The Unquiet Dead while we wait for Schlemihl. Starting in a minute.
Get in the stream, senpaitachi.
I'm not British so I like the whole chav thing.
Voyage of the Damned starting soon
VOVAGE OF THE DANNED SARTING IN ABOUT 8 MINUTES. GET IN HERE
Can I read Lungbarrow without having read the others VNA's?
Is Voyage the best so bad it's good episode of NuWho?
Maybe? There's a "previously on Doctor Who" summary in the beginning iirc - if you know who Rassilon, Omega and the Other are + what Ace got up to after leaving you're probably fine
I'm there.
STARTING cytu dot be/r/whomas
getting comfy lads?
Getting comfy in the stream whomas stream.
Haven't been in here for many moons lads. Is Capaldi leaving at the end of the coming season? When does casting start?
We still don't know. Get in this Christmas stream though
We all hope not, but you never know.
need 7 more things and a free space
Nah. If Clara left and we had a new companion then the focus would have shifted away from 12.
BANAKAFALATA
CYBORG!!!1
free space should be something along the lines of "embarrassing to watch with your family". since Christmas episodes are watched by non-fans too
it's a bit hard to empirically yes/no that though
any doctor who episode could be embarrassing to watch with your family depending on who they are
"A supporting actor gives a mediocre performance"
>it's a bit hard to empirically yes/no that though
there's a literally a space called "embarrassingly bad cgi" already, shut up
>any doctor who episode could be embarrassing to watch with your family depending on who they are
sounds like free space material to me, m8
I agree
>Joke about British people vs. Americans
>Bad American accent

sorry for telling you to shut up user

Moff writes an awkward sex joke
>Donald Trump is mentioned
Add this. It's set in New York so there's no way they're going without it.
A romantic subplot that adds very little.
Is it true Eccleson hates Doctor Who, or is that a rumor?
that will only cause shitposting and derailment
He doesn't hate it.
It won't. Well it might now, you've probably jinxed it.
>6666
meme magic confirms that the thread will be derailed
i will start by saying that i feel no sympathy for trump supporters who have been beaten and harassed after the election. you vote for a bigot and you pay the price. this is an unironic, true opinion of mine. who's gonna go next?
i will start by saying that i feel no sympathy for hillary supporters who have been beaten and harassed after the election. you vote for a loser and you pay the price. this is an unironic, true opinion of mine. who's gonna go next?
I feel like that's a bit harsh, since some of them weren't even bigots (not denying that a certain amount absolutely are) but just farmers and shit who were so desperate for a job they fell for his wild promises. And Clinton was her own species of horrible - the Doctor would be disgusted with everybody.
>fell for his wild promises
he's not even in office yet, it's too early to say he definitely will not deliver
what is your favourite doctor who episode?
but this is obviously an ironic opinion of yours, intended to mock mine. my opinion is actually real, despite the memetic way in which i presented it. plenty of liberals i know have called me "edgy" for saying it but that's because they can't find anything actually wrong with what i'm saying so they resort to ad hominem attacks.
>but just farmers and shit who were so desperate for a job they fell for his wild promises
i would accept this reasoning for almost any other republican candidate but trump's bigotry is too extreme to turn a blind eye to. you vote for him and you have to explain to me why the wellbeings of all LGBT people, black people, hispanics and other minorities are worth less than your own.
>I feel like that's a bit harsh, since some of them weren't even bigots (not denying that a certain amount absolutely are) but just farmers and shit who were so desperate for a job they fell for his wild promises
not that user but I have no sympathy for somebody who votes for a bigot just because they think it might help them get a job
