I will never understand this. He's technically proficient, probably among the most technically skilled in the world, but he's just so soulless. And inb4 Soothsayer and Colma and Electric Tears, he's going to be remembered as the guy who could play scales at 280bpm and anyone who says otherwise is lying to you.
Michael Romeo
Jimi Hendrix
Dimebag Darrell
Absolutely not, he bleeds more heart, emotion and aggression into his craft than most guitarist, I feel

mein neger!
Come on, man, most of what he does is noodling. It's a diamond in the rough situation. He might strike a chord (no pun intended) on rare occasions, but his mammoth discography isn't helping matters. That and the fact that every single fast solo he does contains this one specific arpeggio that, once you hear it, you'll never NOT hear it in his solos. Really knocked him off the pedestal he once had in my heart.
Again, possibly unmatched in technical proficiency but I'm just not understanding where this "he's actually a wounded soul and his playing is like the weeping of angels" sentiment came from.

lets add bonnamassa, mayer, and clapton (when he's solo) to that list
