Bahahahah Sup Forums well and truly btfo

This is what happens when shitty video game stories gets tested on the big screen.
It gets fucking butchered.
Videos games will never be kino or close to art.
Never.

Isn't Fassbender also producing?

and when they try to be, they are just interactive movies, and not good ones at that

Good fuck ubisoft they deserve these results for running the franchise into the fucking ground

Post yfw the only good movies about games are the ones about FICTIONAL games

The only movies based on video game that is somewhat good and made a profit is Mortal Kombat.

its over no james bond for fassbender

in every video game movie I have seen the story has been actively changed to make it worse or less interesting than the source material. Or they try to transpose something with a completely unfilmable premise, like Warcraft.

Wew time to grow up video nerds

The problem is not that video games aren't kino, it's that the guy who makes the movie is not the same guy who designed the game.

The gary stu medieval adventures could actually make a fine kino

>sociopolitical bullshit
>supernatural bullshit
>stab the cunt
what's not to like

Well shit.

>Sup Forumstards unironically believe devs would make better movies

I AM A GOD

pretty much this

I didn't even know this was out.

They should have just made a CGI ezio movie in the same quality as the Brotherhood trailer. It would have probably been more well received.

Plenty of videogames have decent scripts and plots. They're just significantly longer than a two hour film, and attempting to translate and cut that down is virtually impossible. Especially since multi part movies, like LOTR or HP, have established franchises; new ones would need to be "self constained", and most of Hollywood is garbage. Vidyakino requires a true passion project worker like Peter Jackson.

hmmm Assassins Creed fans are saying this is a good adaptation. Is this kino in disguise like BvS?

The issue is not the source material but Hollywood's approach to adaptation firstly, and secondly its general respect (or lack thereof) for the source material.

Games are very different from movies in that you have agency over the protagonist in most cases. It's an active rather than passive experience. Following the adventures of a protagonist for whom the game was built around experiencing the story of first-hand does not translate to a film narrative. Ideally you should create a new protagonist and show the game's protagonist through their eyes as a supporting character.

Secondly, with regards to respecting the source material, Hollywood - despite losing market share to videogames year-on-year - has no respect for the medium or the stories they adapt from it. Both attempts at making a Hitman movie aptly demonstrate this, instead of making a compactly-budgeted, tense, early Michael Mann-esque film exploring the life of an assassin so brilliant he plans and stages murders that consistently fool the authorities into thinking they were accidents, we got two flavours of brainless, toothless, PG-13 shooting gallery.

Basically, until Hollywood revises its formula for adapting game narratives to film, and learns to treat the source material with some respect where appropriate, this will just keep happening.

Asscreed fans have Incredibly low standards for what counts as things like good acting, good stories and good gameplay. Assassin's Creed is incredibly fucking boring, so of course they like the movie.

Wreck it Ralph is 10/10

Zelda, Contra, Metal Gear could result in good cinematic adaptations. If anyones being honest themselves games are too expansive to translate well for the 125 minutes format. AC I game is too packed , you can make a trilogy of movies off the first standalone game.

Alsp The Final Fantasy movie was kind of step forwards in terms of animatoon at the time, whatever happened with that?

and? We are talking about video game adaptations, and how fans react to them. So far their fans are saying it's great. Who are we to judge if we haven't played all of them. Or are just casual gamers

Be honest muricans, you don't like it that your movie has spanish and or subs in it. Right?

>assassin's creed
>fans

...

Why so surprised?

>Fire Desilets

>buy the company he now works for the rights to his new game and cancel it.

>fire him again

>lose money on the franchise ever since he has been gone

Like pottery

was there ever vidyakino?
