mma gyms are generally full of nice accepting people, just find out one that has an opening day at some point and go in. that way you wont be the only new person (even though you wouldnt be anyway, always loads)

The hardest thing about starting and walking into the gym for the first time is literally that, just starting. Once you do it it's a piece of piss. And no one cares if you're fat, have shit hair or no technique.

If going to a sport gym is a problem for you start by getting fit. Fitness gyms are more welcoming to newcomers and after you get in shape your confidence will get higher and going to martial arts gym won't be a problem
