this is a good thread
but in both Spanish dubbing (mexican and argentinian) he's called Frozono, which is basically same as the english version

>Argentinian
What? I thought there was only two versions, one with mexican slang and one with neutral spanish, but both made in Mexico

lol "neutral spanish". nice meme

The Incredibles was launched in a time when Cristina Kirchner forced all companies to dub "for Argentina, respecting argentinian culture"
i think they dropped it half year before Macri was elected

Neutral Spanish means with no slang, you dip.
>mexican slang in dubs
Fucking hate it. Why do they make non-mexican characters speak like Mexicans? Slang is the main reason I don't like Spanish dubs more than their accent (I'm fine with it), it's the slang the thing that destroys dubs.

>they're not mexican characters
What kind of logic is that? The characters aren't Spanish speakers either so might as well don't dub at all if you're into that sort of autism. Only reason your dub avoids slang is that you make it for the whole latin america.

gelado - cold

It sounds awful. I cringe every time a foreigner attempts to speak like us, even when written.

>No estés chingando, bob esponja
Absolute shit
>No molestes, bob esponja
Correct

Ψύχτρας (Psihtras=Coldy?)

The point with slang in dubs is using it when it fits the situation, ie Americans using American slang in an American movie, not just randomly adding local words to every character because reasons. And again non-Mexican characters using Mexican slang shouldn't be more distracting than non-hispanic people speaking spanish, you're just more used to the former.

There is always a neutral word for every slang term you find. There is no reason to not translate it correctly.

No

Me sigue sonando artificial. Pero let's agree to disagree.
