Either way, this inning is just a terrible outing not just for Lester, but the Cubs defense as a whole, plus a lot of bad luck. First they play deep and it's a lot of soft contact. Then they play shallow and suddenly the Reds get hard contact going for the wall.
At least it's not a 10 runs in the first episode. Still perfectly possible to comeback from if the bullpen can hold and the Cubs can string together some good innings against the Resd's pitching.
And it's only fitting the inning would end on a Resd fuck up at home plate.

Grimm got demoted back to AAA after Wilson was brought in (He's been worse than Grimm.) But was brought back up when Koji Uehara was put on the DL. Consistent bullpen pitching is extremely hard to come by since if you're that good, you almost always become a starter. Also, Grimm is probably middle of the road when it comes to relief pitchers.

I just don't understand what they saw in Wilson. He's fucking awful, the Tigers are probably laughing their asses off.
He's got what it takes to be a solid closer. The problem is the command issues you're clearly seeing, he should be dropped to AAA, but there's no one in the minors who are good enough to bring up to replace both Wilson and Grimm. But if Wilson still has terrible outings, he might be the one to get demoted when Uehara comes off the DL.
