Although I still enjoy Waking the Fallen immensely, I think it's a masterpiece.

Speak for yourself.

I agree with everything you said

Also "Dear God"

I used to like some pretty shit bands in middle school but I mean I think it's pretty normal to like bad music at that age. The only stuff I'm genuinely embarrassed to have liked is like, Blood on the Dance Floor and fanmade My Little Pony shit back when mlp was popular.

i still like almost everything i was into as a preteen and beyond, but i guess i have a hard time getting into the stuff i liked when i was really young, aaron carter, linkin park, etc

There are loads of examples, some I don't even care to bring up or just have forgotten/disassociated with.

I was a pretty cringy teenager in my days. I've kept my scrobbles (most of them) from around that time and occasionally revisit it just to hear myself audibly groan. It makes me feel good in the end, though, seeing that there's been genuine progress and that I've managed to burn off some parts of myself that weren't useful so that there would be more room for new things. I have a friend who turns 31 and still listens to the same shit bands he did when he was 15-16. He's still a huge Manson edgelord, links embarrassing "lyric" videos on his social media pages. He's just unable to grow out of his teens and it's unseemly being his friend anymore. It's just cringy, even though I care for the guy because of our shared history. I'm legit embarrassed for him when he brings up any topics of music or pop culture.

addendum: He always assumes that people don't "hear" the lyrics when he puts on songs so he gets really obnoxious about it and puts lyric videos on fullscreen and keeps rewinding or pausing like "did you get that part?" and stuff like that.

NIN with Josh Freese was GOAT

This is why liking lyrics is the very bottom barrel of music fandom.

I gotta agree with you somewhat. This is the reason I am embarrassed to admit that I actually like lyrical content in music very often. I even look some up afterwards or during listening to get an idea of what its story or message is. It's just that basic people rate even the very low-effort songwriting way too highly. It can serve a good function, can even be good or fitting, but it's almost never anything profound. I never understand why people who claim to be so into words almost never know anything about poetry. Poetry is a platform in which you can actually utilize wordsmanship much better than in songs. Lyrics are the absolute last thing that makes music great.

Disturbed

this but unironically

Oasis

It depends on the genre or artist for me. If it's folk or someone like king krule with lyrics that are really good I'll read em while listening. But i also enjoy countless instrumental groups.

Great band with great sampling ideas and by far the best production in hip hop. You seem salty.

I used to like Hopsin back in 2012 when I was going through my real hip-hop phase (was 12 btw)

Not embarrassed by it though

Yung Lean singles are unironically great

But yeah it's embarrassing how many times I gave Odd Future Tape Vol 2 a spin. Shit's trash

yung lean's rapping/lyrics are garbage but his beats are bops.
