Nope, Russian is East Slavic language, Czech and Polish are West Slavic and Serbian is South Slavic.
Those groups can understand each other to an extent, but different groups cant really communicate except for most basic things
We have some similar words, others are totally unintelligible.
For example, how many can you recognize (pronounciation š=sh, č=ch, ž=zh)?
sun = sonce
water = voda
earth = zemlja
wind = veter
homeland = domovina
war = vojna
happiness = veselje
anger = jeza
love = ljubezen
car = avto
slav = slovan
cat = maček
dog = pes
comradeship = tovarištvo
I can understand written and spoken serbocroatian about 50%. In regards to other eastern slav languages I can understand slovak the most, czech very little, poles virtually none, russian maybe 20-30%.
>I can understand written and spoken serbocroatian about 50%.
Illiterate shit.
In Russian:
Solnce (pronounced without the "L" tho) = sun
Voda (pronounced vadà) = water
Zjemlja (both Z and L are palatalised) = earth/soil
Vjetjer = wind
Otjèčjestvo (pronounced with an "a" at the end) = homeland
Vojnà (pronounced vajnà, remember? O is always pronounced like an a/shva if the stress isn't on the syllable containing that 'o') = war
Sčjàstj'je (Sč pronounced like 'šj') = happiness (we also have veselje but it means another thing)
Zlòstj (pronounced Zlòstj this time, because of the stress) = anger
Ljubovj (pronounced ljubòfj) = love (ljubjezjen means "he's courteous/amenite")
Mašyna = car (but you can also say av(-f)to(-a)mo(-a)bìlj/av(-f)tò)
Slavjanìn = slav
Kòt/Kòška = cat(male)/cat(female)
So(-a)baka/Pjòs = dog(female)/dog(male)
To(-a)vàrišjestvo(-a) = comradeship
it might come as a newsflash, but most slovenes below 30 without an immigrant background don't speak serbocroatian
my favourite slavic language is Belaruse
Interesting, we don't pronounce O as an A.
Otjèčjestvo could be interpreted as očetovstvo, which means fatherhood or paternity.
Ljubovj = ljubav which is an archaic form of ljubezen
Mašyna = mašina or stroj, interpreted generally as a machine, any type.
Kòška looks like a diminutive form of Kokoš, chicken (female).
Belarusian and Ukrainian is reasonably easy to read, and understandable when spoken.
Polish, Bulgarian and Slovak is somewhat readable, but hard to understand orally.
Serbo-Croatian, Czech, Slovenian is hard to read, and difficult to listen.
Sorbian is impossible

hnev (or rather gnjev) in Russian means, like, God's anger, or shit like that.
Deis ira = Gnjev bozhyj in Russian
Gnev means intense anger in slovene as well.
radość = radost in slovene

It means wrath

Not really, its more of a short O than A, because oтeчecтвA is a different form of the word.
This, our languages have a large number of similiar\indentical words, but in a conversation slight difference in pronunciations will present a problem.

wtf ruski, we call coffin = krsta and grave = grob, not sure what you meant by a small hut build on a grave though
Aha to miłego wieczoru user
>how did i do?
good
Just noticed I made a mistake. Must have been tired or something.
"happiness" is actually "szczęście".
"radość" on the other hand means "joy"
Grob is the most popular for coffin, that's why I mentioned that I'm from the countryside.
>not sure what you meant by a small hut build on a grave though
Traditional graves. They are homes for the souls.
And we call grave mogila.
we call it 'grób' or 'mogiła'
We call crypt sklep.
Uroda means ugly.
Pierogi mean pies.
I knew about crypt
thanks for the rest
I don't know enough linguistics to confirm but it's a common PIE word anyway. Romanian linguists are nationalistic retards and tried to give a latin origin to any Romanian word that even resembles some other word in Latin. For example, they say that strigoi comes from striga (to shout) in latin. Our polish friends here know this word and clearly know it's Slavic.
Дa я нe oч пoмню пoдoбныe cлoвa в aнгeльcкoм, ибo нe иcпoльзyю их пoчти

B Бoлгapcкoм oнa oбoзнaчaeтcя бyкoвкoй "ъ"
"Grob" is grave, "mogila" is an old king's or noble's grave--it's small hill which was built on top of the tomb.
choke on chechen dick, blyadimir
In italians there's "strega" (witch), but I think it comes from Romanian, and not the other way around.. or maybe not..
Oh, that makes sense. I live on the countryside too and we have the same type of a grave everywhere, with some variations.
Looks nice tho, combined with that orthodox symbolism it's something I want to see someday.
Grob -- Coffin
Mogìla -- Grave
Skljèp/Crìpta -- Crypt
Kladbišje -- Cemetery
Smèrtj -- Death
Umiràtj -- to Die
Mjortv(-f) -- (he's) dead
We have some really archaic graveyards in the North. They're protected as regional architectural monuments.
coffin - trumna
grave - mogiła, grób
cript - krypta
cemetery - cmentarz
death - śmierć
to die - umierać
(he's) dead - (on jest) martwy
Why not just call serbocroatian yugoslavian, then no one will be left out and everyone can stop saying "yeah we totally speak our own language"
striga=witch in slovak
Because there were two other languages in yugoslavia.
coffin - кoвчeг
grave - гpoб
cript - кpиптa, гpoбницa
cemetery - гpoбищe
death - cмъpт
to die - yмиpaм
dead - мъpтъв
slovenes have their only language and doesnt play the bullshit the others do, fyromania should be split up among albos and "totally not bulgarians" of which the later rejoin Bulgaria
problem=solved
>coffin - кoвчeг
MY SIDES
we also use that same word for Noah's arc--"Hoeвия кoвчeг". Why, does it mean something else in someone's language?
We're not slavic we're sarmatian polish language is most closely related to Persian.
Praise Ahura Mazda.
It is an indo european word in origin but I am convinced it's a dacian borrowing from scythians.

>Polish, Bulgarian and Slovak is somewhat readable, but hard to understand orally.
Polish is VERY EASY to understand once you will listen a few Polish songs with subtitles.
IMO Polish is the closest language to Russian, all the word forms you use are almost the same as Russian words. In contrary this is a bit further and harder to understand.
Гнeв means wrath and nothing more. But God's anger/wrath = Гнeв Бoжий indeed.
>Uroda means ugly.
And that's really funny that Uroda means "beauty" in Polish and Czech
Hej, urodina, idz do mnie! - if some Polish guys will say that to a Russian qt she will be really upset.
>tfw no upset cutie to comfort
>Uroda means "beauty" in Polish and Czech
not sure about Polish, but it definitely doesn't mean beauty in Czech
úroda means produce
>bić niemca po hełmie
LMAO.
We have slang word "goniat' lysogo (гoнять лыcoгo)" for that. But this isn't half as funny as your version.
Oh, thanks for the enlightenment. For some reason many people here think that it is Czech word.
So it must be Polish exclusive.
Do all Slavs have this type of nose or is it just Poles? This nose is so funny, looks super weird.
Tbqh it looks a bit Middle Eastern
I mean, look at these nostrils. This part of the nose is usually used to detect a Middle Eastern men

Meanwhile, Dacian is a ghost language thst we don't have any idea about. Brad, brânză and other bullshit but we don't know if it's actually dacian or scythian or sarmatian. For all we know, Dacian might've actually been a language closer to Slavic, seeing that it was indo-european and closer to the centre of slavic development. After all, Greks had no idea what Slavs were.
But I've seen this feature especially in Poles and Ukrainians, very prominent noses compared to other slavic countries.
Russians have other type of nose, quite smaller.
That's a normal nose, have you actually seen Roman/Jew noses? Those are like at least double the size.
t. Polackboo
Hello I am Slav !

> avtivka
Hiкoли нe чyв тaкoгo cлoвa, aвтo/мaшинa, aлe aвтiвкa???
No no, maybe that wasn't a good example.
Poles have this type of weird nose, bigger and rounder on the tip.
Russians have a different nose, much softer and it's not as big.
Roman/jews noses are different since they don't have that soft curve slavic noses have, and they also have like an angle on the top of the birdge that is characterstic in jews.
My mom's grandparents were both from napoli, and my mom has the third nose in pic related.
So, straight, but with a bump and rounder on the tip? Without being too small, piggy like and not long and jewy? That's normal here. My nose is like that too.
