I don't think anyone disagrees with that. But when we complain about CGI, it's a shorthand for complaining about dictors/writers who think they can make up for a shitty movie by just shoehorning a bunch of over-the-top CGI action bullshit. THAT is the problem: how CGI is being used as a lazy substitute.
