Empire Strikes Back is a great movie even without the score, though, and it arguably has the weakest one in the original trilogy.
It's a really fucking good score though
The Imperial March and Han and Leia's theme puts it ahead of ROTJ
Take away the visuals and they are undeniably bad movies. They are CARRIED by their visuals. Nobody wants to stare for 1.5 hours with random dialogue and beep boop noises coming from a black screen.
Agreed. But the music is fantastic and must be taken into consideration.
>take away a crucial piece of the film and it's less good
Amazing analysis OP.
What about me?
Yub Nub gives Empire the greatest score of all time tbqh famalam
>Empire
Meant Jedi, fuck
great movie
Agreed. Another point people overlook is how technically impressive the OT is, especially for its time. 40 years later, the old effects and costumes held up pretty well. The worst looking parts are all the shit that Lucas added in the re-releases.
oh my sweet summer child
Better question. Which one has the better score?
Doesn't matter, this one beats both.
hahahaha
LOTR by far

Literally everything John Williams touches is gold
Heck, the score is more famous than the movie itself.

>Laughs at Raider's march, plays a shitty emu song about a frog man
This is the best music from any of the Indiana jones films. Also the best intro too.

No kidding.
star wars ost is good but it doesnt even compare to LOTR

The Terminator 1 theme is better though, just like the movie itself
>Unironically liking the chow mein Cole Porter
Are you kidding me? This had the best theme song of any movie
Underrated post
Silvestri basically wrote one song and just made variations. Every character in Raiders has their own recognizable theme.
except for force awakens
IN 2 THEY DROVE A FUCKING MOTORCYCLE INTO A HELICOPTER
HOW ARE YOU EVER GOING TO TOP THAT?
This is my favorite soundtrack piece from Raiders. They also reuse it near the end of Temple of Doom when Indy is fighting the Thugees.

Eh, he got old.
He really hasn't made anything good since Munich.
But Jesus, this is someone that made the ESB, Raiders and E.T. scores in consecutive years.
It had some good stuff.

Minority Report has some underrated tracks

>good the bad and the ugly not on the list
>below magnificent seven
Wew lad
But why would you take away the score?
That was an Italian film not an American one. AFI deals only with American films.
maybe a few tracks, but generally it wasn't anything that stuck out
The prequels gave us much better stuff.

Take out the score and they are iconic movies without score. Put score and the score becomes iconic. OP is a faggot once again.
>take out what makes a great movie and it becomes not great
You are a genius OP, great logic you have there.
Implying God-tier Williams even has peers worth comparing to
New Hope isn't a super great movie, but it was a cool idea, taking 1950s scifi serials and making it into a movie.
There's like no original ideas or imagery in the movie, but it all works.
And it gave us Empire Strikes Back, which is a legitimately good movie. However it then later gave us the shitquels and the current fanbase.
