Most of these 'death camps' were just work camps that had a number of Jews in them, who were probably in there for political reasons as most Jews of that time were Communists. Thousands of Jews dies in these camps, mainly from Typhus and starvation. Both exacerbated by the Allied bombings.

Also, many jews were not killed in camps, but by the military as they invaded other countries.
