He's great. Definitely deserving of more recognition. Consider that piano trio is his first opus at age 20 and those modulations are incredibly sophisticated.
Its just called neoclassical because its based on structure and form rather than emotional manipulation.

>thinking it's supposed to reproduce the style It's more in line with what Bach did mixing the french, German and Italian styles of the time together. Neoclassical mixes the forms and classical style with more modern harmonies and things so it's not trying to be someting that exists. Rather update it.
