II is objectively bad, I and III are fun though, good popcorn flicks tb.h
I genuinely find them more enjoyable than the original trilogy.
>II is objectively bad,
>objectively
Prove it
it's my opinion that they are objectively bad, and opinions can't be incorrect. checkmate, faggot.
Watch out for that vicious bounty hunter Boba Fett, Luke. Did I ever tell you I fought his dad? He was hired to assassinate a senator me and your father were guarding. We kept bringing her around open windows and public areas in order to draw the would-be assassin out because we knew he had too much pride to just shoot her from long range. He had used his payment to hire another bounty hunter to kill the senator for him while he sent us on a wild bantha chase. Also the 2nd assassin used her payment to buy a robot to assassinate the senator for her. Did I mention the 2nd assassin was a shapeshifter? She could have been a good friend in disguise and just shot the senator for all we knew! Then the robot used its payment to buy poisonous bugs to release into the senator's room while she slept after lasering a hole through the window. It could have just lasered her too after that because we we weren't watching her at all, but it already bought the bugs. So we sense the hostile life forms (not the robot) in the room and rush in and save the senator in the nick of time! Then I jumped out the window to chase the robot back to its owner! Luckily it didn't have a self-destruct function. Then we found the 2nd assassin and chased her across the planet, and caught her when she tried to kill us instead of shapeshifting and escaping. But to our surprise, Jango Fett was watching the whole thing instead of going to kill the senator while we were away chasing the bugs chasing the robot chasing the shapeshifter. He shot her with a poisonous dart instead of sniper blaster, and only her instead of shooting all of us or blowing all of us with a rocket or something, then he escaped with his tiny jetpack. Luckily for the senator, my good friend Dexterr Jettster owned a 50s dinner on Courscant that had Republic secrets on the menu along with cheeseburgers and malt shakes. We found the assassin and Mace Window killed him later, right in front of Boba. And he was a good friend.
>Mike is wrong because his reviews are popular
Spoken like a true contrarian shithead
You can disagree with him on some aspects but the core of his thesis is absolutely on point
Why the hell did they made this simple room in CGI ? It looks like shit and they feel stupid. How much money would they saved if it was a simple stage with better looking furnitures and CGI just on the window ?
When the special editions came out, I knew something was wrong, but I didn't quite believe it yet.
Then I went to see Phantom Menace when it came out.
I was so excited.
After five minutes I was thinking: What's going on here?
After ten minutes: So this is how its going to be?
After twenty minutes: Jar Jar. What the fuck is that thing saying?
After thirty minutes: Oh god
After two hours: Soooooooo there it is. Childhood in shards.
>but the core of his thesis is absolutely on point
nice opinion friendo, argumentum ad populum and all
You're a retard if you don't understand that all the assassin bullshit was purposeful to lure the Jedi to Kamino so they could find the Clone Army that they'd use against the Droids long enough to get Palpatine made Emperor and then be triggered to kill all the Jedi
but that wasn't sold in the movie at all so it just came off as nonsensical
They're not good.
Sure, they have some perks, like the cinematography and worldbuilding, but character development, screenwriting and comedy all fall flat.
inb4 "disneyshill" or "RLM shill" because i think the force awakens is trash
>can't understand why the plebquels are shit
>post on the internet about it.
Thanks for making your autism all of our problem, Asshole.
>"good" cinematography
See OP's webm
The movies were bad from a certain point of view HOWEVER they were extremely quotable, have lots of rewatch value, and created tons of interesting lore and an expansive universe that millions have cherished and built upon through books, comics, games, and endless tabletop adventures.
They're not good movies. I've seen worse, but still. I'll watch them every now and then for nostalgia purposes, but they're "objectively" bad, or mediocre if you're being generous.
>implying that this isn't the funniest line in movie history
This is poetry
kys
Thank you. May the force be with you.
That line might be the only time there's genuine human warmth in the entire prequel series
Try spinning, that's a good trick.
Are you trying to say I'm incapable of having my own opinion?
You're just being a contrarian with the ulterior motive of triggering everyone into giving up their (You)s.
If the Prequels really are bad, can any of you actually explain why without repeating any of the bullshit Blinkett crap?
They are bad movies. But RLM and people who parrot their opinions are awful too.
>That line might be the only time there's genuine human warmth in the entire prequel series
There's another one, again involving Obi-Wan.
youtube.com
It's not some super-deep emotional scene, but for the first time in the prequels I thought "hey, these guys actually like each other as people".
i didnt like it
...
>Anakin smirking in the darkness
Whoa
As someone who really enjoyed the prequels:
It's riddled with plotholes, almost too many to mention. The existence of the clone army alone brings up questions like "why are the jedi not investigating further?", "who paid for this?", "does nobody find it suspicious how this well-trained army was ready to go literally one day before a war started?".
They answer questions we never asked and don't want the answers to, like "what was Anakin like as a 10 year old", "who made c3p0", "how did Yoda use a lightsaber", "how did the tax system of the republic work", etc. .
The characterization of Anakin clashes horribly with what we're told in later episodes, making Obi-Wan out to be a delusional liar. Anakin was not "a good friend", he was a ticking time bomb, exactly the kind of person you'd expect to turn evil.
The dialogue is clunky and at times just downright awful, Episode II in particular has far more bad lines than good ones.
so you're saying that all criticisms by Plinkett aren't legit? Go fuck yourself
Pointing out holes in plot continuity isn't criticism, it's the sperging of fan boys and is hard to take seriously
>for the first time in the prequels I thought "hey, these guys actually like each other as people"
This encapsulates the core problem with the prequels. They feel like hours of literally nothing happening, without a single memorable moment. It's like watching paint dry. I can't recall a single thing that happened. It's like the prequels didn't even happen.
>can you explain why these movies are bad without repeating a single point from a 5-hour long comprehensiveanalysis that addresses every single thing wrong in them
How about you explain why they're good without using the words "lore", "lightsaber", "planets", "duels" and "worldbuilding"
>Did I ever tell you I fought his dad?
Boba is a clone.
They aren't. If you think they are you probably only watch mass produced special effects bullshit
>pointing out problems with the story isn't a criticism
I can't tell if this is serious or not.
they're memetic.
I only saw part of Plinkett's episode 1 review, because I'd much rather watch the actual prequels then some midwestern-sounding nerd bitch about them, but he had some legitimate criticisms, such as:
>the lack of a protagonist
>uninteresting characters
>a poorly explained conflict
>an incoherent story
>child acting
They're ambitious on a scale that's never been attempted before or since.
It covers almost 30 years of not only the fall of a republic but also the personal fall of one of the most beloved characters in all of history.
>it covers 30 years of history
More like 20, but whatever, either way it's hardly the only movie to take place over several decades.
>not only the fall of a republic but also the personal fall of one of the most beloved characters in all of history
Of course, what else would the prequels be about? There's nothing particularly ambitious about that. And "they aimed high" does not make a movie good if the end product was barely even mediocre.
>opinions can't be incorrect
This is an opinion that is incorrect.
I only just watched Ep7 today and desu the prequels were at the very least more mentally engaging and had a story.
>CGI clones and robots shooting at each other
>Anakin
>One of the most beloved characters
See, here's the problem. The movies did a terrible job of developing his character so he never really became beloved and his fall from grace didn't seem to be that tragic. I know the writers are somewhat limited because Anakin becoming Vader was a foregone conclusion, but they could at least have tried giving him some character other than "annoying kid" and "angsty teen".
This.
What an idiot.
>From my point of view the Jedi are evil
You're right, the prequels really made you think.
Is Jake Lloyd a good child actor? Is he even a decent child actor?
>Childhood in shards
>One movie being bad renders other movies also bad
>This is how manchildren think
The OT and all your memories of it still exist, if you don't like the PT just ignore it and pretend it isn't canon, your childhood is not affected by anything in your adulthood in any way
As opposed to your argumentum ad but I liked it as a kidum.
Lucas should be hanged for ruining Jake's life 2bh
>why are the jedi not investigating further
They'd love to but they were suddenly caught up in this massive war and that became their priority
>Who paid for this
Jedi Master Sifo Diyas, alluded to be either Sidious or one of his lackeys but ultimately was just left as a mystery
>Does nobody find it suspicious how this well-trained army was ready to go literally one day before a war started?
Again, they had a war to fight and were just happy for the army at that point
>he actually looks like Vader
Now this is pottery
Why did they even start a war?
It's like the Separatists attacked them
Yes, I remember when the FBI and CIA were disbanded because of the Vietnam war.
whats so special about this scene that people keep posting a webm of it?
Look where they are walking to
I can't I'm blind
So all investigations stop because a war starts? The Republic doesn't have its own intelligence services, no wealthy prominent citizens who are pro-peace (like Padme or the Organa family) do their own digging, the Jedi can't assign some of their older/weaker members to do some police work, etc. ?
The strange thing is that a lot of questions about the terrible plot of the prequels are given at least semi-decent answers in the EU materials, but that doesn't improve the movies one bit because on their own they tell us nothing.
Look at the left side of the webm as they move. Does anything look a little off to you?
all the furniture is cgi? what the heck?
They are kids movies, like capeshit, so it doesn't really matters if they are 'good or bad'.
They are just disposable entertainment.
For a cinema buff pov, they are bad by default, but so are all the Marvel and WB capeshit, Alien, Predator, David O Rusell flicks, etc
>FBI and CIA
>Star Wars
Tbh in the films, especially ROTS, the Jedi are portrayed as pretty incompetent, in part due to Sidious clouding their judement. And yes, in the films, the Republic seem to put too much weight on the Jedi, thinking that these magical wizard dudes can solve all their problems, and no other intelligence services or the like are depicted. The Jedi spend most of their time sitting around debating things rather than actually doing anything, they probably had several discussions on whether to investigate further but it went nowhere because they're idiots
What did George mean by this?
Jesus christ, hahahahahaha...oh wow...
I was 11 when Ep1 was released. I remember being bored. I don't even remember if I saw 2 or 3 at the cinema.
Meh was my overall experience of the prequels.
Thank you for reading.
Christ that looks like a early 2000s training video
I think Forklift Operator Klaus had better production value than the sets in the Prequels
