And I don't mean the hums of a happening, I mean... does anyone get this eerie sensation like we're right near the climax of a terrible, historic moment? Like with all these latest events, there's something we're missing out on, and that somewhere, something is speeding towards oblivion with unsung characters that will be forgotten like sand trying desperately to save it before it's too late, and yet others push it ever closer to the great death of history?
I know we shit post a lot about happenings and race wars but there's something indescribably off about it this. Not just a helter skelter plot, but something much more than that. Do you feel it?
Do you feel the clock ticking?
Because if so, it's time to get comfy and embrace the end! Get on in here, Zero Hour is fine!

i lurk these threads all the time the beautiful ones particularly unnerved me since i can almost see it happening in todays world thank you for making these threads the very comfy to watch the end times
Anthony Anderson
Good to have these nightly threads. I feel it as well. Obama's term is almost up. brexit, terrorist attacks non stop, countless unconstitutional laws passing, UN meetings, vote manipulation, MSM getting caught lying or fabricating stories like crazy and an economy that is about to implode.
Cooper James
I'm a lurker, and I saw this thread again. I almost hid it, but I see OP and friends are interested in quality happening speculation. You sound like my kind of folk.

>implode
I feel like human intelligence marked the evolutionary big bang. Now that we have made it this far it feels like it is going to become the opposite- the Big Crunch. Collapse seems like the only route and it feels... just bad. Considering we came this far and all.

I think about that all the time. Not sure if it's exactly what you mean, but it seems like we may have hit our evolutionary peak. Reset happening possibly?
Parker Martinez
Been watching zhg threads since the initial thread that started the generals.
So what can any one person hope to do if shit hits the fan? Survivalism? I doubt there'd be any way to "stop" some big scale happening like an economic collapse or an escalation to nuclear war. Seems only solution is to prepare to cope for the event.
What even is the "zero hour event" we're all sensing? Any ideas?

Zero Hour is the hour in which a fire becomes to big to put out, the second that a bird needed to escape the jaws of an alligator - but didn't.
I've been here since the first thread too. A shame more anons don't chime in.
It is possible to reset but it seems our development stages are limited. At least for now.

Tonight we could start off by talking about the psychology of it all.
Do you think most people feel the global tension? A lot of them seem to channel it into bullshit non-issues (like transgender bathrooms), but even then, are people realizing that there *is* some sort of new source of anger present in the world these days?
Easton Cook
I feel pretty good tonight. None of you try to depress me, now.

the best thing about living right now is that you can enjoy the luxuries of life while also experiencing the outdoors and learning how to be self sufficient. If you invest some time now you'll have fun and be better prepared for the future.
I could imagine preparing for societal/economic collapse via survivalism/standard prepping. Terrorist attack doesn't seem like it could be a civilization ending scenario unless on the scale of nukes. Or starting WW3, or something along those lines.
>Project Blue Beam >Project Blue Beam is a conspiracy theory that claims that NASA is attempting to implement a New Age religion with the Antichrist at its head and start a New World Order, via a technologically-simulated Second Coming.
...how the hell would anyone prepare for this? Aside from the standard plan of going innawoods and building a defendable self-sustaining retreat stocked with supplies and ammo. Which seems to be the standard survivalism plan for almost any catastrophe.

With the current state of affairs in the world as it stands, ramping up into the general unease we are all currently feeling also comes an awakening. I can say for certain 100% of my close friends have woken up, and it seems the general public is being gradually redpilled as we speak. With our politicians openly declaring a war against our way of life and our countries I've noticed the facade has faded and it is overwhelmingly clear to everyone that something is seriously rotten at the core of the political class.
But with the coming happening(s) I'm not exactly sure we will go quietly into the night. Once the proverbial band-aid has been ripped off and the point of no return has been reached people will have no choice but to return to the values that built our respective countries. The general public in Britain was not prepared or wiling to fight WW2, until it happened, and then they were.
Connor Reyes
It isn't that dramatic. This is something humanity has been through countless times--the safety blanket of civilization wears thin, and the cold hostility of the world seeps through, setting off the survival instincts we've inherited from before we walked upright.
The main difference this time is that civilization already encompasses the world. There are no young nations, no new frontiers. We can't pack up and start a new life somewhere that we aren't afraid to even speak without first looking over our shoulders.
The fight-or-flight reflex is active. And there's nowhere to flee.
Parker Thomas
What is so significant about this tunnel. I saw the video of the opening ceremony and everything but what is so important about it?

The world has been burning for years. There's always a bit of time left to gather a few of the basics at your local wal-mart and army surplus.
Truth is, most of the people here live relatively boring and unfulfilling lives. Feeling like there is going to be some happening is a way for them to have some kind of excitement in their life. Think of people that go into old houses and think that there are ghosts. They do that because their lives are so boring that they need something to be there or exist even if it is not true. An unhealthy obsession with a collapse or happening shows how little excitement and satisfaction you have with your own life.
Done with these threads. Too many of em and the magic is gone. Good fucking job.
Just add /zhg/ to your filter and stop bitching about a thread that isn't just dank anglo meems and dubs.
Though I do agree that these threads are starting to become a little bit too much about doomsday prepping and less about society's psychological breaking point.
Let me say this. When have they ever been so bold in our lifetimes? Big names, such as George Soros operating in plain sight now for the past year or so, way fucking different than his usual M.O. of working from the shadows. As our presidential election draws even nearer, I feel more and more wild things are occurring, but even worse, the reactions of the indoctrinated drones are nonexistent.
Really sit and think to yourself. Why the fuck would Obama tell schools that if they do not allow transgender students access to the bathroom of their choice, he will cut their funding. How in the flying fuck does that even remotely benefit our nation? I don't think any person with a shred of sanity can come up with a logical answer to how this declaration benefits our country. He also goes on T.V. and openly laughs at us, saying only fools believe in racism or prejudice against whites. This is right out in the open, and I feel like only a few years ago this would be met with deafening criticism. Yet it just isn't there today. Their talons are now fully pierced into every facet of media. Some have seen this happening, caught glimpses of the takeover during previous years, yet were ridiculed as delusional. Even here on Sup Forums, before the shills arrived.
Think to yourself, why are our second amendment rights being stripped away by the actions of Islamic Terrorism? Why is the World Economy once again in disarray?
Well now we all know there is no delusion. A complete takeover has taken place. It's 1983 and next year will be 1984. We stand on the prescipice of a terrible event or series of events. Everyone who isn't numbed by their conditioning can feel this.
Aiden Hughes
Perhaps another time we can discuss the metaphysical aspects of zero hour. I've lurked a bit of these threads and found d the post referencing Kali Yuga and the Iron Age of the Greeks and other similar low points in traditionalist cultures with cyclic time referencing breakdown of society values and spirituality fascinating to contemplate. The list of attributes of the Kali Yuga in the Wikipedia page pretty accurately sums up the problems of Western society today.

Honestly my issue right now is technology. I used to be addicted to methamp and the pull I get from just browsing on my laptop all day is much stronger than a real needle addiction ever was. People are so sucked in. As a kid you did not have this and it produced great happiness but even in a classroom you can't even talk to someone because their attention is absorbed into something else.

We haven't hit our evolutionary peak. Evolution simply takes longer because the population is higher, and higher populations mean it takes longer for mutations to propagate. The problem isn't a biological limit but a social one, as we only have one society left due to globalization, and thus a single weakness is enough to wipe everybody out.
A long time ago, early in the Republican primary, one of the GOP figureheads--I don't recall who--commented that Trump represents a revolution, and that everybody should be thankful that it's a peaceful one. My fear is that when Trump fails, either in the election or as president, the revolution will cease to be peaceful, and the entire world will follow suit.

>society's psychological breaking point
I think that the with the development of the internet and video games and other electronic media, combined with the current modern urban society built around industrial centers and working to make money with which to buy food, goods, and services, many people can have really uninteresting, unsatisfying lives.

As this goes on people get fed up and find ways to release their suppressed tension. Like all this feel good SJW political activism. Or NEETs or hikikomoris dropping out society.
And possibly this same tension is what is making all of us here in this thread think there's something about to happen. Because we want something to break the monotony.
Or maybe I'm projecting.

As I've gotten older too I feel like I have done a lot less exploring. When I was young I used to go on vacations with my parents, go golfing, go to the waterpark, hang out, camp, travel, different places every day. Now my route is to and fro school fucking GAY.

Look at it this way. If Trump doesn't win, there are going to be _millions_ of Americans who feel there is no longer a representative government in the United States, that the very foundation of democracy has fallen out from under their feet. And Hillary Clinton will be insane enough to opportunistically antagonize them.
Instead of getting a figurative Hitler, in 2020 America is going to elect an actual Hitler and things are going to get very ugly, very quickly.
I really hope you anons weren't planning to live long and peaceful lives like the boomers. They will be the last Americans to know what it is like to retire and die at an old age.
Jonathan Martinez
I think the anger you speak of is a symptom of reality not being met by the unrealistically high expectations younger generations in the West were given by the parents who all told them they could become president. When their own incompetence faces them these pathetic people start lying to themselves and blaming it on others, pursuing hedonistic lifestyles to help distract and cope. This too is why the poisonous liberal ideology is so appealing because it says it's not YOUR fault, blame it on someone else!!!
Brandon Stewart

Somewhere in my big ol' folder of shit that really makes you think there's an excerpt of a book where the writer was studying the collapse of ancient civilizations and found direct references to pop stars and sexual liberty eating away at the social mechanisms that kept everything running smoothly.

I believe this is a product of having access to first hand accounts and documentation of devastating events and bizarro human discourse at our fingertips 24/7.
Personally, I rarely see any strife locally, I live in relative peace and comfort; yet undoubtably my news feeds are chock full of negativity,I come on Sup Forums and see negativity. This dichotomy is, I suspect, unsettling as you see one thing but are lead to believe it's another. How can one be told the world is in shambles when you can look outside and see nothing but blue skies?
Subversion? Psychological disconnect? I noticed it once I became much more active and involved in current affairs, but it has done nothing but add the burden of knowing on my mind and it's not for the better.
Hudson Collins
Some thoughts of possible productive discussions for these threads is survival tactics and prep but ALSO the value and belief systems that have worked and that those survivalists should pass on somehow.
For example, lately I've been daydreaming about going somewhere far removed from civilization but still in America (it's a beautiful county in all honesty folks, and I've traveled a bit!) And building a sort of temple or church. It would not be denominational or assigned to a particular spirituality, but I would strive to make it beautiful, sublime, awe-inspiring. I would collect within it truths I have found in life, values I deem worthy of passing on, conceptual understanding of different traditionalist cultures, etc. And not tell too many people about it in the hopes it would persist unto a better time.
Some values I have been thinking about are traditional familial roles, filial piety, respect and collective effort, or ritual, and symbiosis with nature. I've been reading a lot of Confucian and daoist thought recently, but we should by all means draw from every instance of human ingenuity wherever available!!
Thoughts?

If living a long and peaceful life means being like the boomers, count me out.
Maybe. But it assumes in the first place that free and fair elections are still possible, and that civil war hasn't broken out already.

I really think that if most people went outside and disconnected from the internet for a week they would not be so fucking paranoid about the world like they are now. This place is just a reinforcing echo chamber of all the bad in the world. Of course you will feel this way. Not that it isn't happening but it's magnified and unhealthy here.

I've had that line of thought for a while now. Earlier this year I read the Unabomber Ted Kaczynski's Manifesto "Industrial Society and its Future", which goes into pretty good detail about the same line of thought, how he thinks "industrial society" can effect the human mind. It was written in the 90s, while reading it I could find much of it described the modern events and society pretty accurately.
He uses the idea of "autonomy". Different people need to meet different levels of autonomy in their lives. If this need is unmet, there is an inherent unshakeable feeling of something missing. Some people can be happy and content with the level of autonomy they achieve in industrial society. Others cannot. And according to Kaczynski as technology progresses further and governments gain more control over people, the less and less "autonomy" the average person can meet and the greater and greater the spread of "dissatisfaction" amongst people in a society.
What the baby boomers did affects everyone and every males' ability to build stable families.
Aaron Ramirez
On the contrary, it was my 'exciting and fulfillinglife' that, well, left me unfulfilled. Without the moderating aspect of Christianity that I had had earlier in life, the risks and joys got so intense that it was hard to find ones that topped the last. I had accomplished and experienced so much more than most that I grew isolated and contemplative. Then cynical and complacent. In the past year, I've started to realize how much good Christianity had done for me early in life, but now I have strayed, have developed my own metaphysical ideas and cannot really go back, not yet at least. Also in the past year I've realized how much true good has been vandalized and slandered and it seems the world has been turned on its head. This has given me new motivations to self improve, albeit in different ways than before (I no longer give a fuck about social life, etc) and find ways to perpetuate what I believe to be wholesome and good in this world while evil becomes mainstream. So yeah, I get excited about ZHG. Now go back stick to your slide threads faggot

Everyone thinks they're on the precipice of epochal change.
Truth of the matter is Fukuyama was right - history ended in 1989. There's no grand civilizational question along the lines of communism vs. liberalism vs. fascism and the threat of nuclear war is, thankfully, long in the rear view mirror. We're all squabbling over what tiny portion of the post cold war consensus we want to change and pretending that a few savages that blow up airplanes every once in awhile are more than a minor annoyance.
Relax. The world is more peaceful and prosperous than it's ever been, and no matter how shrilly the media wil ltry to insist to you things are falling apart there's no indication that that's going to stop anytime soon. We're in the dreamtime of history, with ideological conflict at an all time low and economic prosperity at a point where few have to worry about starvation, at least in the first world.
Enjoy the nap. Chances are technological civilization will put scarcity to bed sometime in our lifetimes, but there's also a chance that something serious actually does go tits up and you'll feel foolish for wasting this time.
