It really isn’t that good...

I agree on both counts. So many cuts bleed into each other as generic buttrock.
The definition of an album that's more than the sum of its parts.
The singles are good. Probably would have been a solid 8/10 if it was one disc. Siamese Dream is their only great album.
they could have cut out half the songs and had a really good single-disc album.
Yes! You all get it!
Ditto on SD being their only great album. Mellon Collie is overweight.
what a terrible group of people you all are.
oh and you too. Pisces Iscariot and Gish shit all over SD
>It really isn’t that good
You're right, it's even better.
itt: soyboys
It's pretty good. But what I like about it the most is it's relatable, not necessarily because it has many "fuuck can't believe they just did that" moments. There is something to be said about simplicity
>Mellon collie is melancholy turned into a name
I can’t believe I only realized that just now
...
double albums are a mistake to be honest
It is kinda bloated but still doesn't have a bad song on it
adore was a commercial failure because it wasn't as grandiose in scope as mc. had they released mc as two separate albums adore would have fared better in sales, and as a result machina would have been better fleshed out due to not having any record label pressure. releasing mc as a double album effectively killed the band's career
It does, though.
Name them.
We Only Come Out At Night for starters.
Siamese Dream has always been the better album
This, but unironically.
that one is good. the only song I don't like on Mellon Collie is Love
You're the one being mean and condescending
Bodies is a great track
It's great but Billy's nasally, irritating voice drags the whole thing down.
>tooooooNIIIIIIIIIIgggHHHHTTTTTTT
YOu are condescending as hell if you are shitting on this album FYI
Smashing Pumpkins are about as far from buttrock as you can get
I have Jellybelly, Fuck You (An Ode to No One), Love, Bodies, Stumbleine, and By Starlight deleted.
>hating Bodies, Stumbleine, and By Starlight
Not even mad just shaking my head
This, how can people like these vocals
Mellon Collie is an album full of embarrassing moments, but the "LOVE IS SUICIDE" part of Bodies is the worst. Stumbleine has great lyrics but the singing ruins it. By Starlight is like the even more overwrought cousin to Tonight, Tonight with its arrangement.
I do, though in retrospect I also like this

Pisces Iscariot all the way
that's a good hot take. kill yourself.
Sounds like I struck a nerve. Go on and keep your filler tracks, no skin off my nose.
Nigga Jellybelly is like top 5 MCIS songs. All those other songs are great too.
fixed it
>Crossed out Jellybelly, Bullet With Butterfly Wings, Muzzle, Porcelina of the Vast Oceans
>Kept Zero, Cupid De Locke and Here is No Why
Shame on you
Pisces Iscariot is amazing but SD is still the GOAT.
Gish is good but it's not even close to as good as SD, this one is just pure contrarianism.
>doesn't understamd that to truly love one must kill the self...
Hi pleb, maybe this is not the place for you, please go back to r e d d i t
Zero is pretty bad desu.
You're opinion isn't very good either faggot.
Siamese Dream SHITS all over this fuckin album.
This, only unironically.
...
Cupid De Locke is awesome??? and Zero is good not great but it wasn't worth crossing out. also the guitar solo is tight as fuck
Jellybelly and Bullet with butterfly wings are dumb horrible edgy 90s rock songs, Muzzle is boring and Porcelina is unlistenable drawn out fake prog rock garbage, to me anyway
Thanks for your opinions but I disgree and will not call you dribbling retards because it is unhealthy to do things like that haha
Mellon Collie has so much going for it.
I find revisiting and loving tracks that I used to hate after getting tired of the songs I used to like. And vice versa. Sure Siamese Dream is great and better in some parts and all, but for me the sheer variety of Mellon Collie is what makes it a winner.
I hate this cover so damn much
For the longest time I avoided this album because I thought it was some ITAOTS-tier indie cuckmusique because of the fucking cover
the vinyl cover is much nicer
(spoiler alert: the vinyl tracklist is also much better)
I always thought Mangum totally cribbed the aesthetic of the ITAOTS cover from Mellon Collie.
Machina and PI are my favorite Pumpkins albums desu
why even listen to SP if you don't like songs like these?
stop posting this image. nobody fucking agrees with it
>ITAOTS-tier indie cuckmusique
The actual fuck did he mean by this?

Best Pumpkins era coming through.
Not using guitars would automatically make one further from buttrock
80s Pumpkins were peak patrician
Billy needs to fucking remaster that shit and release an 80s Pumpkins comp
He really should, but most likely won't.
Also, Machina most underrated Pumpkins era
youtube.com
I really hope the remasters eventually come out. Corgan hinted it was label cuckery that was holding it up.
Listen to the vinyl version
I remember when Sup Forums posted the share file of the vinyl rip. It was a different overall feel with the track order. I don't know which I prefer since I grew up with the original order.
The vinyl order is interesting but I think the album works better in it's 2 CD tracklisting. It's a constant push and pull of emotions that I think is more indicative of what the album meant to convey
