Thousands of people were brutalized in the exact same way or worse

Thousands of people were brutalized in the exact same way or worse

What's the point of this film?

It's pretty hilarious how many people have been duped by Jesus. It only just changed the course of the world

when will torture methods/execution will be legalized here in the west? fuck gotta kill the fucking infidels
even the fucking goatfuckers know that execution is the only way

He got brutalized for who he was and what he thought

these thousands of people you talk about would say "no, i'm not jesus, i was kidding, stop hitting me"
Jesus didn't do that.

The point of the movie is not to show the most brutal death and suffering in the history of the world.

>there will never be a trilogy about the mongol conquest of baghdad
>the first movie would be a bit of the mongol campaign and end wih the fall of the city
>the next 2 movies would be the mongols brutally slaughtering the 2 gorillions

Is this thread a joke? Not even a Christian and I understood the point and message of this movie.

What is the message and the point of it?

JESUS

DID

NOTHING

WRONG

why cant we just chop the fucking hands of robbers, kill rapists and pedophiles and enslave the other fucking criminals? is it so fucking hard?

...

>or worse

Crucifixion is literally the worst way to die we've ever come up with.

...

trip 6's = truth
oh the irony

Jesus was a good man

he said a lot of important things

he died for your sins

pic related

>he's serious

sure

Wrong.

But that's a nuclear mishap, not a form of execution.

Socrates did it first

He chose it. It's even beyond dying for your beliefs, he understood it was part of the plan for him to die on the crucifix so he accepted it and forgave Judas.

JUST

Skimmed through pic related out of curiosity a couple days back

I think O'Reilly projected his politics just a little bit emphasizing how tolling the Roman taxes were on Jewish citizens. He even draws comparisons to Nazis "just following orders" with the Roman soldiers who put the crown of thorns upon Jesus.

Neat read overall desu, I'm a sucker for perspective

but he wasn't the son of God lmao

It's something to do with the idea that the level of suffering Jesus endured is important to muh salvation. Imo it is a heresy

Jesus was flogged with a Cat O'Nine Tails 39 times. The flesh would have been torn completely off his body.

the point is mel gibson's fetishist belief in the redemptive power of suffering

i think that kind of romanticization of pain is really dangerous ideologically

yeah, we saw your post the first time

Jesus chose to go through that pain because he loved you. Buggered if I know why though.

An actual Roman flagellum would be a little more crude than that. Talking bits of animal bone and lead.

...

Jesus never existed

>the level of suffering Jesus endured is important to muh salvation
You don't understand how the expiation works. The physical suffering was one thing, but while jesus hung on the cross he suffered for every sin man has wrought upon man, from then until Armageddon and the end of the world. It was ultimately a spiritual trial.

It is a literal historical fact that Jesus of Nazareth was a real person.

Christianity, the only thing that can get people to pat themselves on the back for watching smut.

I'm not really religious but the sheer amount of symbolism present in the crucifixion is fairly impressive. They seem to have thought of everything.

I'm too stupid to understand the death of Jesus

Someone please explain

This is what i understand: Like regular humans killed Jesus and it's supposed that God would get mad as fuck at them for killing him, but he didn't because Jesus asked him to forgive them?

The physical suffering of Jesus is incomparable to his spiritual/religious suffering. Basically protestants are some fuck niggas.

Wtf. Is that a wooden bowflex machine? Why is he using it while bleeding?

Not necessarily, but yes, Jesus's existence is as well established as a lot of things historians presume to be true based on the evidence. His divinity of course is a whole other matter.

This, it's a really charismatic image to hinge a religion around. There's also a lot of emotional energy to it - if I belonged to some shitty pagan religion I would 100% convert.

What the fuck is that

Mel Gibson is into snuff and torture. Its his fetish.
This was basically him making the snuff film of his dreams, and tricking millions of people into theatres to see it under the guise of a biblical story.

Socrates drank some kool aid, not get crucified.

I'm not going to convert but I aint mad at it or people who do. I was a more hardcore atheist when I was a teenager but now I just feel like I don't really know anything for sure.
Jesus is a lot of incredibly solid imagery and symbolism and damn good ideas to base a religion around. Plus it's old as shit so that's valuable in a lot of peoples minds. So if you're going to be religious probably be Christian and not some cunt Muslim or something. That's the extent of my religious belief.

How did he suffer spiritually.

>Why is he using it while bleeding?
Do you even lift?

You will never be half the man Jesus was

Gibson is a Catholic but he basically portrayed the Protestant version of Jesus's suffering, ie that he suffered as a man as we do, and that's what is important. Scorcese portrayed him in The Last Temptation of Christ as suffering as a spiritual being, more of a Catholic interpretation which minimizes his torture and suffering as a human being. It's important to film history and western art history that both films exist. Calling The Passion of the Christ torture porn is just silly.

>exact same way or worse
nope

Really? You would give up the religion of your ancestors, the religion that made your country the sole world superpower for ANOTHER jewish faith?

We were all going to hell because we're born into and drawn to sin. God doesn't like that so he concocts a plan where his son would serve as the ultimate sacrifice, taking all our sin onto him, so that we can get into heaven. We killed Jesus but it was known that is what we would do before he even arrived, he knew what was coming his entire life and so did God but I guess actually seeing it made God really angry whereas Jesus having experienced it thought of nothing except our well-being and so asked God to forgive man for what he did.

He was tempted by Satan every second of the way. He actively chose immense physical suffering.

I'm not calling it torture porn to insult the subject matter itself, i'm just saying thats what the man is into, and thats what this whole movie felt like.
It seems like nearly every major project he's done has some sort of torture or body mutilation (Braveheart, Apocalypto, Payback)
With some directors, you could just say "Oh, thats just something they do here and there, its a style."
But with Mel, I can't shake this feeling that its something he's genuinely into

Christianity made western nations powerful, you pagan cunt.

>Catholic interpretation
>minimizes his torture and suffering as a human being
Wew lad! The Catholics love the blood and guts of the passion of the cross... like way to much. They do have the miraculous element of it, but its buried under torture porn. I mean the passion play itself IS a product of the catholic church.

Geography made Western nations powerful

I don't think torture or mutilation was shown in those films to the same extent that it was in Passion of the Christ (haven't seen Payback, full disclosure), because it wasn't necessary. Not saying Gibson is the greatest director of all time, far from it, but I don't think he's into torture.

Catholic theology is a lot more focused around the spiritual journey of Jesus. Protestant theology disregards it almost entirely. I was raised Protestant. Believe me, you don't know blood and guts. The nitty gritty of the Crucifixion was crucial from a young age.

Considering traditional national borders in Europe are the tightest in the world, not really. Lots of Europe is very dependable but also very difficult to manage.

>I was raised Protestant.

Based on what though?

Jared Diamond posts on Sup Forums? Your book is literal nonsense, by the way.

You're hurting my feelings.

Wouldn't Jesus' punishment been worse than most since his crimes were considered worse than most? I mean I know a lot of dudes got flogged and crucified, but it seems like Jesus would have got worse treatment for what he was doing.

>forgive people who haven't done anything for something they never did
what the fuck religion get out of here

I think he just has some old school ideas about masculinity. I don't think it's a torture fetish so much as the idea that real men are supposed to be tough.

It's a valid explanation albeit limited by Diamond's ornithological background.

Sorry user, that wasn't very jesus like. But compared to Catholicism, Protestantism is like diet Christianity. Unless and until we get to quakers, menonites, and snake handlers... which are all based as fuck and the kind of believers I want on board my sky wizard team.

Oh okay lol

I live in the South and I need you to understand that snake handlers are literally Baptists who are on meth. They're literally methheads and as far as I can tell have always have been some sort of drug addicts.

Nice dad joke ;)

that one where you get strapped into a boat and glazed with honey and fed with milk so that you'll shit yourself and so that insects would eat and lay eggs in you over the span of several days seems a bit worse

Jesus didn't invent chemistry so we could not tweak while holding venomous pit vipers whilst singing hallelujah and dancing.

Yea, eaten alive by bugs is a pretty shitty way to die. I mean, crucifixion is shitty as it is, but at least i'd have a chance to bleed out and die reasonably soon.
With the bugs, and them feeding you constantly, you'd be alive for fucking weeks, months.

No it's not. If I weren't on Sup Forums I'd bother writing an effort post. But to summarize, he's a duplicitous piece of shit who starts with the axiom that race doesn't matter and that everyone is the same and geography is all that matters, and then he goes around hunting for evidence that fits his narrative.

It's a basic texas sharpshooter fallacy.

Oh hi Milo

What about the guy who got his face cut off from the dull end of a razor blade by cartels and also his hands and was still moving around and touching his face with his hand stumps not realizing his face face gone? Was that not worse suffering that Jesus?

I am not a homosexual.

Probably because the narrative presents Jesus as doing nothing wrong.
Also if you're a Christian and believe Jesus was God, then its pretty amazing that a being of limitless power chose to be tortured.

Also Catholicism and Orthodoxy focus on guilt. Also there is the whole, Jesus died for our sins thing, that Christianity says, probably in order to rationalize his death.

Yeah 1,000 of people were brutalized in the exact same way, few of them probably started a religion on the scale of Christianity. Which is why they made this film.
But you knew that, you're just trying to tip your fedora.

He drank some poison, he wasn't tortured for days.

>manridingzebra.jpg
>preemptivedefinitionofdomestication

I've met tweakers who are not even religious who I could within 10 minutes convince to hold onto a snake while I filmed it for maybe $20 and some suda.

Any asshole can hold a snake, it takes true jesus fire to not get bit by one.

sign me up right now

They all get bit by one, m8. Snakehandlers all get bit. Multiple times.

I'm a 32 year old virgin so I'm kinda like Jesus.

hopefully that dudes nerve endings were mostly fried and they kept him doped up to not know what was going on. what a shitty way to go

The earliest account we have of Jesus damn near states he was god, you're saying they said that to rationalize his death too?

Jesus chose to die to "fulfill the scripture", Iuadas Ishkariot was a necessary evil, a martyr even

Say what you will about his other points, but the benefit of the interconnectivity of Afro-Eurasian trade on development, domesticated animals had on freeing up labor, and the effect those heard animals had on disease and how those diseases depopulated Australia and the Americas is as plain as day though.

So he chose to die to fulfill scripture and they said he resurrected to rationalize his death? According to the scriptures?

This

Also German niggers tested the same as their white counterparts in like the 40s or so compared to american niggers whose low scores were due to a shitty culture

No one disputes that locations plays a role in how a people develop. But the whole premise of GGS is that it's *ONLY* location that matters and nothing innate about a people group.

This is tantamount to creationism, because Diamond proclaims that evolution apparently stops at the neck. It's totally disingenuous. The reason africans didn't create a decent civilization or domesticate any livestock or grains is because they didn't NEED to. They evolved for simple hunting and gathering in permanently-bountiful Africa. They didn't need to worry about things like winter seasons or dry seasons of the nile, like the people in the ME and Europe and elsewhere did. They never became anything greater because they never needed to, and there was so selective pressure towards traits such as delayment of gratification.

It's time for you faggot nu males to convert to Catholicism.

The race war is coming whether you like it or not.

Get fucked, papist scum.

You're intentionally misinterpreting.

IQ is not impacted by culture. Look up the transracial adoption studies.

I don't know the details of this german study of blacks. I assume most of them were pre-migrant-crisis blacks that were a cherrypicked cream-of-the-crop immigrant group, rather than being a statistical average of their race. No different than how there are tons of smart indian doctors even though the average pooinloo is dumb as hell, simply because only the really smart ones come over here.

Fuck off you Christcuck, no one needs the fucking appeal of the afterlife to live their lives happily or functionally
