Season 1

15 Million Merits

man, that episode was so fucking depressing

Agreed. My friends made me watch that one first and I'm glad.
That wierd shit with the priest fucking the pig was just stupid

A critique of the current society, the crowd trapped in the rat race (or in this context the bycicling) to power up the upper scales of society. Told what to eat, what to Watch, what to wear, and urged to spend their virtual money on virtual possessions. Those who fail are thrown even lower down the ladder, and become the laughing stock.
Once in a while, a few lucky ones have a chance to shine in a reality TV show, but however pure and good their intentions, they end up absorbed by the system, chewed and spat in a different form (the cute pure singer becomes a porn actress because producers see her as one).
It really is pretty accurate, only pushed to the extreme as not to hit too close to home.

I've watched all 3 seasons in a row, and I must say Netflix managed to not shit it up too much, although I liked the atmosphere better in the 2 first seasons.
Also trollface in one episode.

Not a priest but the PM of England you retard.
I found it interesting enough, would social (and media) pressure force a public figure like himself into goins as far as fucking a pig on TV? Maybe a stupid question to you, but I didn't expect a TV show to ask it.

What was the point of the girl he friend-zoned? If he wasn't gonna go back for Abi after he got dumped, what's her significance to the episode ?

Probably to show that there are always people around you that you don't even notice but really care about you. That you could have genuine relashionships, even in this world, if you stopped running after windmills. Dunno.

Also I believe once he has his own channel, he has no more interaction with the lower castes. After all he has a "real" view outside his window now (Although I suspect they are indeed meant to be displays too, only big ass ones).

I finally got to watching some of the new season. Watched "Shut Up and Dance" today. What did people think of it? It seemed like a remake of the opening episode with the pig but written by a teen.

its parking patawayo!

A bunch of dumbasses on here will declare it the best episode ever of anything because they associate with the pedo kid, but it's actually one of the worst episodes in the series.

If you weren't a complete autist, you could tell her character's purpose by her facial expressions at seeing the singer girl get humiliated.

At first, she was gleeful and spiteful, and wanted to see that chick fail as a kind of revenge. But seeing the singer girl be broken mentally kinda made her feel hollow, and probably felt some level of empathy.

Since the whole point of the episode plays on various themes of dehumanization/desensitization/isolation, I think her character played a small but important part.

tl;dr The point of her was "lolfeminism" because she felt bad for the singer bitch, as a woman.

Should have tried to coordinate with police to catch the Unknown people at several points, and hoped that would help alleviate his own charges if his info got out because of it. He'd still be in shit with his family but he could always have a career writing for Slate or Cracked.

And Hector's really going to rob a bank and leave a boy to his death to avoid confronting his wife about attempting to see a prostitute?

It was all a bit much. The first time episode took on person and spent the full hour making his decision believable. Here we're just supposed to accept they have a whole network of people complying like clockwork. None of them defect, meditate too long, or just fuck up their crazy, time-crunching demands.

only the first episode of season 1 was good, any other shows like that and like saw?

enjoying your winter break kid?

yes its nice starting school in 1 week again I can play some league and watch movies now xD

Agree with you both.
I guess they hoped to make this plausible by the fact, as we find out in the end, that he fapped not to regular porn but kids. This is why he would go through hell rather than let the word spread. This also gives a new perspective to his glance at the little girl at the food joint. Also teens are a mess.
However I also agree, Howard's behavior is nonsensical (like why did he accept to give a lift to the school's mom?). Risking jail because a failed attempt at seeing a prostitute, really?
Also fighting to death in the woods :/

I can kinda understand the kid's point. Being a pedo is pretty fucked, and he likely would've been ostracised pretty badly. Humiliation can be more daunting than prison.
But Hector's stuff made absolutely no sense. Like, yeah, it's infidelity and his wife might divorce him, and she might get full custody (highly unlikely). But I've known people who've made the relationship keep working after a cheating incident, and even at the end of the episode when his wife confronts him, she's clearly very upset but it's not like she's already left or packing up the kids. His relationship could be salvageable even then, except for the fact he robbed a bank and was an accessory to murder and is going to prison for a long time.

The whole shit was so convoluted and unlikely and seemed purely designed to just make us feel bad for a pedo while at the same time satiating Charlie Brooker's boner for extreme punishment.

Derp I meant Hector, not Howard

>seemed purely designed to just make us feel bad for a pedo while at the same time satiating Charlie Brooker's boner for extreme punishment.

Yup, also they did a better job at making us feel for the girl who turned up to be a kid killer IMO. But same causes, same effects.

I caught on he was a pedo immediately but never believed his absolute trust in the Unknown. I kept expecting it to turn into How to Catch a Predator but more game show-esque.
And yeah. Like with the first episode, that had the benefit of focus. Yeah, we had the kid main character but there were at least five people caught up in this plot.
