I don't know how to make my bass practice meaningful, I know the fretboard, how to play a walking bassline and proper fretting and plucking technique along with how to slap but that's about it I feel like there's more I should know but I don't know what. My goal is to be able to improv and also play most songs anyone would request.
Aiden Lewis
I'm a guitarist and I struggle similarly. I think a way to break out of it would be to learn licks and riffs that you like and whereas you may have learned them by rote before, now you can apply your scale and arpeggio knowledge to figure out where those licks and riffs came from and expand those ideas across the neck and applying the patterns to various modes.
Austin Stewart
have you tried switching to guitar hero?
Robert Clark
Get lessons, jam with others, join a band
Parker Allen
how do you play guitar properly with a crooked pinky? my godforsaken pinky bends inwards under the ring finger when I reach around the neck and it's impossible to exhibit any manner of dexterity whatsoever am I just holding it wrong? it's completely debilitating and I feel like I can't progress at all
Lincoln Harris
can somebody post that lovely green sg from a couple days ago?

Leo Brown
the fuck is that bridge and whatever's that behind the nut? the hell are those buttons under the knobs?
actual questions, i don't recognize those. i like the caps though, are those special covers? they're kinda pretty, looks good on the pickguard..
Chase Peterson
wow have you never heard about the who was born with a deformed pinky and still was able to play?
Joshua Lopez
T -4 Weeks.
Finally, I can start learning guitar /gg/. My goal for this week is to memorize location of notes on guitar and doing beginner stretches on guitar. What are you goals for this week /gg/?
Matthew Peterson
That guitar is an original 1980s fender elite strat which were only made for 1 or 2 years. The tremolo is a free floating freeflyte system, hence the weird part near the nut. It had a midrange boost as well as treble/bass expander controls. The push buttons are the pickup selectors.
Caleb Sanchez
memorize a few bars of a Bach violin sonata. I don't have too much time. Those guitars are really good. I love the walnut hardtail version.

Caleb Collins
Can you get more early 70s than a Burns Flyte guitar I wonder?
Elijah King
One does not have to be talented or special in order to improvise with music. Improvising is the most natural way of making music. Our original nature is to improvise – create. Listen to students in a band room warming up their instruments. What you hear are attempts at improvising. Disorganized but none-the-less improvised. Maybe what we educators need to do is learn how to remove the obstacles to improvising and allow the students’ natural creative ability to show itself.
Juan Carter

Levi Young
that all being said, there are certainly some that improvise better than others... hehe
Hudson Robinson
They care for music at a very young already and have the determination to master an instrument. Wish I started this young.
Brandon Barnes
Yup, that's me

what kind of photography? music isn't a race

Electronics repair and building(especially effects, amps and old radios), plumbing, cars, carpentry and joinery, drinking, rpgs, handegg football, residential electrical, cooking, talking shit with my boys, memez, baseball, working out, reading, studying music and different things relating to engineering. A few of my hobbies go back to guitar, I enjoy setting up and building guitars, I enjoy building clone pedals and amps, I enjoy studying my instrument. Most of them involve fixing or building things.

Guys where the fuck do I get stickers? Is there a good site, or should I just have all my stuff custom printed?
Lincoln Miller
Ruining a guitar with stickers is degenerate
Ian Johnson
There are 100pc and 200pc sticker packs on amazon sometimes labeled as skateboard stickers. 10 bucks max for them.
Asher Sanchez
You have to go all out for it to work.

Boys, I need help building a pedalboard. Right now I have a gt100 and just a few standalone pedals. >philosophers tone >ds1 >mxr custom comp What should I look at? Are there any cool modulation effects that would be better analog?
Aaron Howard
small clone is a really cool chorus
Jeremiah King
ya bro anal log is SOOO much best then nig-ital for the wubs and whoosheses cosm more cockshit amirite?
Oliver Young
should i get this MIM pao ferro for $550?
Jeremiah Martin
Eh I used to be very against digital but for convenience sake it's nice to have an all in one, you can definitely get some nice sounds out of it if you take the time to dial them in. Ehx is probably my favorite pedal company, I'll check it out
Brody Hall
That's a mustang, pau ferro is a species of wood.
Bentley Reyes
phase 90 evh is cheap and effective. replace your ds1 with something better like a ts mod or ocd when you can. find a used supa-puss and you are good.
also this
Charles Collins
yes I know...i thought it was obvious from the filename. anyway i wanna know fi anyone owns one and would they recommend it? i have a MIJ mustang from the 90s and i love it but i wanna get one without the pickup switches so i thought the pao ferro looked good for 5 bills.
Camden Martinez
yeah i dont use the ds1 at all, should probably do the keeley or jhs mod to it. ive had a phase 90 before, it was great for the vh tone but pretty much a one trick pony for me, i prefer the digital phasers, there's just so much more you can do with them although people say they don't sound as good. i am looking at getting a standalone delay so i can tweak the knobs on loops but havent heard the supa puss, thanks.
Bentley Green
any have experience with the electro harmonix holy stain? there's some cheap ones out there and i've heard conflicting reviews.
Jaxson Adams
My Pedals; Just got the Blues Driver yesterday.
>inb4 "they aren't even plugged in"
Daniel Davis
nice, i'm actually looking to get rid of an mxr comp now
Ethan Nguyen
I want to, at least, play for 30-60 minutes a day focusing on scales and barre chord transitions.
Caleb Long
price it just slightly lower than the average used price and watch it fly out of your hands.
Oliver Torres
i had a lot of phase pedals over time. but i seem to always come back to the phase 90. i even went as far as the subdecay stuff. i dont even know if they're still around. anyway, i might replace it with a flanger soon (i know, not the same thing but would be the same role). i`m just looking for the wooosh wooooshhaaaa sounds i have in my head. Electric mistress is pretty cool. its a chorus / flanger.
Adrian Wright
you seem to like that beehive feeling in your ear.
Ryan Cook
Should I get the Source Audio Programmable EQ, or just get a Zoom MS-50 and have EQ Presets?
Brandon Thomas
>not liking bee-core
Lucas Sanchez
yeah its the custom comp too so i know someone will snatch it quick at the right price
Matthew Perry
just watched the pgs demo on it, pretty cool. ehx just has the market cornered on unique, great sounding pedals. i haven't played one that i didn't like.
Landon Cooper
>goals guitar is the one place in life I don’t need goals desu
Zachary Rivera
I'm looking into getting a Strat or a Tele. I've played both at the local music shop and can't decide. I'm still a novice and currently have a Les Paul but want something a bit brighter with single coils. I play a fairly wide range of music but would say its mostly rock/blues. Any suggestions? Also, when it comes to MIM vs MIA, is it worth double the money? I was leaning towards MIM to save money now, thinking that later on I'll have a better idea of what exactly I want and I can trade up to that.
Asher Perez
>Zoom MS-50 its pretty low end. between those two and to answer your question i'd go with the source audio programmable EQ.
if you care so much about EQ you shouldn't get any of them. both will shit in your sound.
if you really need more than one EQ presets go for two like pic related. using a digital equalizer to improve your tone is like bathing in the toiled.
Hunter Sanchez
Can someone explain why rocksmith's tuner is a solid 15 cents out of tune?
Jaxon Diaz
How does Sup Forums practice? I'm about to get a bass so I really need to get into organized practice as it will be my 3rd instrument. I can sit down and play scales for 10 minutes but more than that makes me angry. What's the secret?? I wish I had some sense of discipline and organization. Oh and I can focus just fine, it's not a matter of concentration.
Wyatt Green
thats easy, its because rocksmith is literal trash
Carson Gray
strat is kinda universal, tele is more niche blues/country but you can really use any guitar for anything. which one feels more comfortable to you?
Hudson Parker
yeah the owner is an old bloke and he looks like he's always high. they make some awesome stuff. i read once he likes to leave the possible crazy settings on the production pedals so people can use it in a creative way and create new stuff. like matt bellammy has done with their octave multiplexer. they seem to be in touch with the players idk.
kek thats awesome. well now i'm stuck looking at ehx stuff on reverb and cant decide between the hot wax or holy stain
Jonathan Flores
Recite Pi to a million to a beat.
Dominic Howard
SD did a lot in two years of playing. He has a video that explains his tuning for starters.
Michael Smith
Write songs in 7/4 and 5/4. That's about it.
Eli Taylor
No difference comfort wise. Between the Les Paul and the Fenders there's a big difference but between the two Fenders they're about the same. The only real difference is the vibrato and extra coil on the Strat.
Henry Campbell
To wrap up learning toes across the floor and work on my technique
James White
sounds like the strat is for you m8
Charles Brown
Hey. Is the buzzing and bad sound due to playing a warped old guitar, or am I doing something wrong myself? Been playing for 6 months now and still don't know if I am missing finger placements or it's just a shit tier guitar. I had it looked at by someone at a music shop and he said it's garbage, falling apart, warped to shit.
>puts on A minor jam track >"alright what should I play on this" >slides into A note on 7th fret D string with ring finger
Blake Harris
Strat, and you can get a used MIA for a couple of hundred more than a Mexi. MIM are coated in a triple thick layer of ployester, and the electrics are crapola, you might as well buy a Squire and call it a day.
William Perez
All I hear is a faggot singing out of tune. Post something that we can actually hear the guitar.
Jonathan Hernandez
>pajeet still shilling squiers at every turn my sides
Nolan Thompson
Electronics on MIM stuff is not bad. It’s just not as good as MIA. Squier have shit electronics.
Sebastian Hughes
don't hear anything
Noah Carter
who else /offset larp/ here?
Blake Miller
Are you a boy or a girl.
Kayden Cook
leave it to a woman (or someone who thinks they're one) to post both a shitty pic of a guitar prominently featuring themselves, and post it incorrectly.
Try a nice picture of it on the stand next time, hon
When it comes to recording guitar, what are the general guidelines other than “use your ears” for when to use pedal effects and when to use an effects plug-in on the recording?
