This is sad. I found his music through last.fm ~10 years ago. I saw him live in 2008 during his Fordlandia tour. It was a very moving experience and I was also lucky enough to thank him for the music after the show.

I've been last year, never been to Coachella, but judging by the line up alone the two seem fundamentally different. Primavera is a special festival, given its urban setting, it takes place in Barcelona itself, not outside of the city. You reach the festival by metro. You get some solid headliners, but the most impressive part is always the very carefully chosen 'smaller' artists. Doesn't matter if you're familiar with the artists, if they play at Primavera then it's almost guaranteed they're worth seeing.
