lol

the 90's was shit tbfhwy laddo's

Oh dear

>six weeks

whew, probably had more fun camping and playing on his radio.

>Offered $1500 for his ticket
>$2173 in today's money
>He chose to see Episode I instead

Poor guy.

What if I told you that if you had actually worked for those six weeks, you'd have much more than 1500, and you could still watch the movie.

$1500+money you made from working > money you made from working

This

I make 3000 post tax every month doing retarded graphic design work

God knows what I would've made in the 90s when most designers were geriatric 60 year olds who thought they were the shit

Poor Liam Neeson. Pro to the very end, yet it's plain to see he hated the experience.

>managing an unruly mob of people, by yourself, for free
>is a fat pig with a loose connection to reality

Poetry.

but you're not working

I make 4.000 - 5.000 post tax by babysitting the mentally challenged and only work 15 -18 days a month. It isn't considered a high paying job. How the fuck are you making so little?

>ebay, an online service

Do you live in an area with a high cost of living?

I live in the bumfuck Rockies and pay $450 rent for a two bedroom apartment

Late 90s*, it was good up until about '96

did he kill himself?

I'm currently paying $130 a month for a room I'm renting at a relative's house. Saving up for an apartment.

Youngfag here. Was waiting in line for weeks really a thing? Was it done to get tickets or to get good seating? I ask because when I went to go see TFA with a group of friends we bought tickets online beforehand and just walked in 7 minutes before the movie started. Was the internet a thing in 1999?

>mfw not old enough to understand the Star Wars craze

>the 90's was shit
found the underage

I remember seeing this movie a few days after it opened. Skipped the trailers and we got in as the movie was starting

I knew it was going to suck after 5 minutes. I actually left for a little bit to use the bathroom and on the way back played an arcade game in the lobby

Kids these days will never understand the 2 years hype for TPM.

TFA was nothing in comparison.

>He's an AMAZING director. He gets the utmost performance from every actor.

Poor Jake.

>Wait days to see Ep 1
>So excited
>Jar Jar makes his entrance

POST YFW

Fucking greentext

youtube.com/watch?v=eBKfFycVjeI

...

...

Kind of funny how history is repeating itself.

If we only knew...

Rick McCallum is such a piece of shit, he has an equal amount of the blame to shoulder for this shit.

Probably thought he was going to play a bigger part in the future of the franchise and now he's literally mentally ill living with his mother.

meesa

>Lucas
>The most successful director in history

>wait on line
>not in line
Why are people so fucking retarded?

>God knows what I would've made in the 90s
Nothing at all, because graphic design was all done by hand with actual ink and tools and nobody relied on photoshop like your fat lying ass does. You're a waste.

What was so bad about Jar Jar? I was 12 when I went to see Ep. I and even though he's stupid rewatching it as an adult, he was funny when I was a kid. Now he's just mildly annoying. Not at all the huge deal everyone makes it out to be.

Fuck you, Rick Berman.

THANK YOU

Im guessing your a yurop by the use of decimals?

People were fucking crazy into Star Wars before the prequels came out

It like had so much of a following people lined up to watch years after it was made

Like Star Wars now

The prequels just fucking killed Star Wars people
Like the only survivors where a few fucking nerdy dudes

Now that the stigma generation has lost it's 'cool' status they can reawaken it and drive up enough love to promote it

a lot of people like Star Wars man

PEOPLE LOVED THE PREQUELS UNTIL IT BECAME A MEME TO HATE THEM
DEBUNK THIS YOU PLINKETTKEKS

youtu.be/XSaaa_OBkzw?t=1m21s

Almost like they love these new ones now

>Really makes you think

...

>wasting 6 weeks of your life to watch the worst Star Wars

Fucking cuck should have sold his ticket.

I agree

In all fairness I fucking love Jar Jar when I watched it
>youngfag here

Oh wow, a bunch of die hard Star Wars fans who desperately wanted to like TPM liked it on opening night. That's solid proof that the prequels were universally loved before Plinkett. :^)

You're a fucking idiot. TPM got mixed reviews from critics, South Park and other TV shows of the time shit all over it and fans started to shit on it once the hype died down. Only underage idiots think Plinkett is the reason the prequels are hated.

That didn't exactly answer my question

>He is an amazing director. He gets the utmost performance out of every actor he works with.

What did he mean by this?

I hate that this is such a good reaction pic and i hate even more that i know where its from.

fuck you Sup Forums...

It was the decade before everything went to shit.

>I'm playing young Darth Vader, what could go wrong?

>that shit tier nose

dayum, you got me beat

Absolutely nothing. Jake Lloyd had zero acting experience when he was cast and had no idea how a director should act. This is a rehearsed answer done for the shot-countershot copypasta promos.

vocaroo.com/i/s0wO9bpiy8N4

I will never forget that moment.

Well he was in Jingle All The Way with Arnold.

>choosing jake lloyd over this kid

what in the FUCK was george lucas thinking?

I saw episode 1 for the first time in 2014, and pop culture had me to believe jar jar was literally Satan. I mean yeah he was shit, but I expected worse.

>What was so bad about Jar Jar?
>he was funny
I was 11 and I felt like a bunch of out of touch corporate suits made him in the most retarded pitch meeting of all time.

He was funny but for all the wrong reasons, every time he spoke it just more surreal that this was indeed a protagonist in SW.

He's clinically retarded comic relief and in every bad possible way.

The faux-Jamaican accent is like nails on a chalk board.

>MEESA SO HAPPEH TO SEE U MASSA

wow I can't believe its been 20 years since Phantom Menace

But 97-99 was the best part of the 90s

>I'm actually gonna go and find a beach somewhere for a while

so THAT'S where the "I don't like sand" line came from

Who knew this movie was an omen to how terrible "the new millennium" was going to be
Everybody thought we wuz gonna to be futuristic n shit. A gateway to the next great step of humanity

It's just shit and all I have to show for it is a fucking cell phone.. I WANT TO GO BACK!!!! I'll trade in this samsung, I have like 4 phones laying around
I'll give you all of it, my kingdom for a time machine

Screw all of this to hell

The internet was a thing but wasn't really a fundamental part of day to day life like it is now, you couldn't really use it to book movie tickets or stuff like that.

He kinda did answer your question since you said getting a ticket to TFA was easy. Sure, there was a fair bit of hype for TFA but absolutely nothing compared to the prequels. This was before the era of every franchise being rebooted or remade or getting new sequels, at the time the idea that we were going to be getting new Star Wars movies was literally mind-blowing.

People were camping for tickets because that was the only way to see it when it came out, every showing was booked solid. It was by far the most anticipated movie of all time.

Wasn't 90's kid looking enough like Jake was.

>stand on line
dafuq?

I see.

...

This.

I was 16, and it was the most insulting thing I've experienced up to that point in my life.

I really like stuff like this that has to do with episode 1. Is there anything else like this? Ive seen the movie fanboys, that was great too

The internet was only barely a thing. Google was brand fuckin new. No youtube, no fagbook, no Sup Forums, very few videos of any appreciable quality, all websites looked like they were designed by retarded high school students. Most people had no internet or PC and those that did mostly had terrible 56k modems.

The internet wasn't a major thing for normies until 2003ish, though normies were kind of aware of it by 1996 which is when the super oldfags of the 80s proto-internet will tell you the internet died. I got my first internet access in 2001. Before that we had Encarta which was like really shitty microsoft wikipedia.

It's crazy to think how fast the internet went from being something you heard about on TV to something you use everyday and can't live without.

Attributed to Lucas:

>Imaginative, bold, provocative
>Amazing director
>Utmost performance out of every actor
>Is nicest guy
>Gives you all the time in the world
>TPM is relentless
>Because of the environment, it's such a joy
>I'm basically telling the story that's already set up, I just have to work out the details

>choosing to focus his first prequel story on a kid instead of a young adult

The fuck was he thinking.

and I thought lines for Supreme drops were autistic

It was better than the force awakens

This reminded me of going on message boards around 2000 where people were speculating about Episode II. The big rumour was that Leonardo DiCaprio was going to play Anakin and there was pretty much universal horror at the idea and everyone was relieved when they cast an unknown instead.

Makes you wonder how things could have been different for Leo's career

>Spend every waking hour after school studying the mannerisms of Mark Hamill and Anakin Skywalker to create the perfect blend of optimism and foreboding, managing to turn a line like "Are you an angel?" into something Shakespearean
>Get passed over for a wooden potato creature

Hating Jar Jar was a national pasttime at one point

I wonder if there are any existing camcorder footage of it from a theater. Not the Hollywood premiere, just any theater, would be cool to see the initial reaction it had. I remember the hype clearly but never saw it before it went to tape.

The internet was already mainstream by the premier of Phantom Menace, at least to people with children in grade school/high school. People were using it for chat rooms, porn, video games, etc. Hell, I had "computer science" class as early as '98 where we were making our own websites on Geocities. Sure it wasn't nearly as navigable, but you could still waste hours clicking around on Diablo webrings, shrines, and whatnot.

>3:35

Is he /ourguy/?

>liams obvious frustration with georges sloppy directing
he deserved better

JUST

Ewok!?

This is 90's Internet:

dropclaw.com/jarballs/

Do you jack off to JJ or Pegg?

Or do you prefer masturbating to Plinkett?

The PT didn't kill Star Wars you dumb faggot

Especially since from 2008 and ongoing, they've been pumping out those CG cartoons. In the later 80s and 90s if you wanted more Star Wars, you had to either read books and comics or play some video games.

Not enough pop-up windows desu

Man this brings back so many memories
>tfw will never be a kid again
>tfw will never be this hype for a movie again

youtube.com/watch?v=1RGohIKxc9M

i never cared much for star wars as a kid

I was like 9

>It like had so much of a following people lined up to watch years after it was made
Nope, there were never any lines. That was all hype. I remember watching Phantom Menace on opening night and just walking right up and getting my tickets no problem.

>Everyone who likes Star Wars is a nerd jokes
>All nerds are virgins jokes

Times sure have changed

Did you live in a suburb with an enormous multiplex or in a city? I think I saw it a few days later, but I remember it still being crowded.

I remember the only things I liked were the Trade Federation things: their ships, droids, tanks, landing ships. Looking back now, there were three Twi'lek slaves at the podrace, one lethan and two rutian. Lucas knew what he was doing.

One of the reasons why I hate people who've jumped on the band wagon. The same cunts that ridiculed me for liking these things now like it too.

Man I haven't seen Brian Peppers in years
