No LDA saved it

We need Neo-Neo-Psych

it reached its peak in 2009-2014, basically the span between MPP and pom pom

whats LDA

The only good record here is DtBJ.
Yes, I've heard the album right above it. It's not good.

>it reached its peak in 2009-2014
It reached its peak 1986-1999

You have no clue what youre talking about

>13 year peak
no

Animal Collective and Ariel Pink are fucking garbage.

that shit is neo-neo-psych, is talking about actual neo-psych

what we NEED is some fucking original psychedelic music

Yeah but how

>saves neo-psychedelia

"Neopsych" was Spacemen 3, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips, My Bloody Valentine, Flying Saucer Attack, Bardo Pond, Amorphous Androgynous, Primal Scream, Boredoms, etc

I hear shit like Animal collective and tame impala and ariel pink and its just like...ugh

lol nigga, Here Comes The Indian is pure unfiltered psych.

That doesn't mean it's good.

I fucking hate that band.

this except without the le wrong generation faggotry

What "le wrong generation faggotry"?

You can't tell me with a straight face the bullshit that gets passed off as neopsych is better than those.

Im sorry you feel that way. Similarly, the flaming lips are awful

I feel like psychedelic revival has been alive for a long ass time, like unusually fucking long.
Like since the 90's fucking brain jonestown massacre.
Im not saying i hate it. But i think eventually times going to fucking run out. And there will be a punk revival and we can kill the hippies

Yeah definitely overrated.

Still much better than Animal Collective.

Psychedelic revival started in the 80s with Spacemen 3 and Loop and the paisley underground bands in America

Punk has never gone away, it's just been shitty for a long, long time

t. Wayne Coyne

I don't even like the Flaming Lips that much but if he doesn't like Ariel Pink or Anco then I like him a little more

Little Dark Age is just Painting With but they're sad

if I knew I'd be making it brother. I'd say less focus on pop songwriting and more focus on extended rhythmic jams and drones. I think animal collective's live performances are a good point of reference

LDA and Bobby Jameson are good.

I liked Tame Impala and MGMT as a teenager, but honestly, the sound seen on Oracular Spectacular and early Tame Impala releases lost its charm. I'm glad MGMT moved to a more honest sound with Congratulations, and Tame Impala found new ground with Currents.

i dont know what the top 3 albums are

Melody’s echo chamber

middle is Volcano by Temples

basically a Lonerism 2
but pretty good tho

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets

Foxygen - Hang (actually a fantastic album but in no way psych),
, and
King Gizzard - Gumboot Soup

>It reached its peak 1986-1999
fucking idiot...

>Psychedelic revival started in the 80s with Spacemen 3 and Loop and the paisley underground bands in America
no, it started with this

literally none of those albums are neo psych

most are varying shades of pop

>(some) Fishmans
>The Flaming Lips
>Flying Saucer Attack
>(some) Galaxie 500
>Gorky's Zygotic Mynci
>Hash Jar Tempo
>Robyn Hitchcock
>The Legendary Pink Dots
>Loop
>Mercury Rev
>Monster Magnet
>Roy Montgomery

>Spectrum
>Sun Dial
>Super Furry Animals
>The Tear Garden
>Verve
>Ween
>basically the shoegaze movement
>basically the Madchester movement
what the hell is wrong with you
is basically right, and this is coming from a big Animal Collective fan

King Weed LMAO and The Weed LMAOs killed it

glad to know no one here trash talking AP has heard his early material

that & they don't like pop.

I listen to/have listened to 90% of these, enjoy a good amount of them, but Ariel Pink is better.

listen to some Madonna :)

I partially agree with you, but I think while Underwater Moonlight (along with Julian Cope/Teardrop Explodes and Paisley Underground) was sort of the impetus of neo-psych as a genre, Spacemen 3 were the ones that really began its peak
Underwater Moonlight, Fried, Emergency Third Rail Power Trip, Gravity Talks, etc. are all great records, but I think they were all primarily rooted in 60s revivalism
Spacemen 3 were the first ones to do something truly new with psychedelic rock in a while - blending it with drones and minimalistic repetition to create soundscapes rather than just images
Almost coinciding with what acid techno and ambient dub were doing around the same time, sort of laying the framework for bands like Animal Collective

>but Ariel Pink is better.
No you just have bad taste

I saw him life in 2009 and he was terrible. Does that count?

Yep. You nailed it.

Spacemen 3 were the ones to revitalize it in a way that wasn't done before them

Fpbp

...

is this bait

LDA saved neo-psych, music, and the color yellow

bump

It's just getting good
